Daily chat thread - Friday 7th August

Good morning it’s Friday at last, I remember when I used to long for Fridays, the start of the weekend, now it’s just another day since retirement, mind you having said that I do like Fridays now as we always have a home made curry. Except today we aren’t because we have a big day tomorrow and we don’t want to smell of curry. More of that tomorrow.

Grandson George went to scouts for the first time last night and really enjoyed it, apparently they boiled water on a fire and played dodge ball, next week they are throwing axes! Sounds like a health and safety nightmare. :panic: I think scouts will be good for him, he’s a bit of a loner and doesn’t mix with other kids very well, hopefully scouts will bring him out a bit.

Right, as soon as all the kids are safely in school I’m off for a run, I pass two schools and it can get a bit busy so I wait till they’re all inside.

Have a good day whatever you are up to.

Relating to another thread...online shopping...I’ve got to go shopping today because the wife didn’t want to do online shopping as she couldn’t browse the shelves properly. A week later and the cupboards now empty I get lumbered with going to do the shopping myself when I could have done it from my computer a week ago!

Also building another outdoor shed today to put the childminding stuff in.

And then helping a florist ( not them over the river, an actual florist!) set her forward business projections for her start up company! The gambit of businesses that I see makes me laugh sometimes. Two days ago it was a voluntary group looking to secure grant funding for homeless outreach work, yesterday was someone wanting to setup a kitchen fitting business and today selling flowers. The world keeps turning!

in between all of that taking time out to post on social media, laughing at the idiot that was Tony Blair, crying in the medi that the Labour Party is lost to him. Point of reference Tone...With affiliated members we now have over 850000 members. The largest socialist party in Europe by a mile! #JC4PM

just going through pon to see what needs updating to help @Chris.

at the moment i have not found much but its nice to help and keep the site all updated.

in a bit im going to head into the city for a bit just to get out but this depends on the weather being nice.

I'm getting annoyed and frustrated with things today.

Very frustrated.

My laptop is still experiencing issues, I've not used it much since the battery stopped holding its charge but I re-installed Windows 10 yesterday because it would hang and I wanted to remove bloated-ware from it but it just hangs. I can't say how frustrating and annoying this whole experience has been, but hopefully taking it back will resolve all the issues.

Between this I have sent reminders for the Prediction League.

I have cleaned my hand and finger which was involved in my accident. I'm pleased that it's actually okay, cut up pretty badly but the damage could have been much worse. I feel lucky I noticed considering I don't recall how it actually happened. One day I might share a few pictures, it will silence those knobs on Twitter who thinks I'm exaggerating or should have lost my finger. Let's hope they never experience any sort of issues with life ah?

Now I will continue trying to catch up.

Nooooo, don't show me any pictures of your finger, I'm likely to faint, I'm very squeamish.

I'm sharing your frustration @Chris, my iphone might be on its last legs, or at least the battery is, it was 100% this morning a few hours later it needed charging again. :censored:

The blooming iphones are so expensive but I love them, not sure I want to splash out on another, I've not had this one long.

I am just having a free day.

I feel like Notts when I say it but this past week has been busy with all the running around I have had to do because of Uni.

It sounds like the battery may just have gone.

I wouldn't overly worry about something like needing to re-charge it, there are people who can replace the better without costing you the earth. I know a few people who specialise in iPhone repairs. Is the device running slower at all or hot?

Usually these are two signs that the battery is the issue.

I've not noticed it running slower or hot to be honest. I'm wondering if it maybe when I have a run which is sometimes every other day, I use an app which tracks my run and links to my fitbit I guess that could use a bit of battery. I'll keep an eye on it and if it gets a problem I'll see if I can get a new battery.

It's ok when I'm at home I can just plug it in but it becomes more of a problem if we are away in the van camping or out walking.

Piethagoram's day  today....visiting

https://www.ltmuseum.co.uk/whats-on/hidden-london/clapham-south

A great history tour of London though the war, the aftermath and then the Windrush generation. Highly recommended.

That looks really interesting @Piethagoram, I love anything like that, our parents (in my case) and grandparents went through some terrible times and it is good to see exhibitions like this to remind ourselves how awful it must have been and how lucky we are today.

I have been looking for work.

Nothing in particular, but ideally I will get an interview for a retail or hands on job. I don't like doing temporary work due to past experiences of doing unpaid work and recruitment companies aren't very trustworthy in my experience.

Temping is like getting good at something, only for them to say at the end that they don't have enough positions to offer you anything. Only to start the whole thing again, I don't usually mention anything relating to work on here but something needs to change. Otherwise I have been on PON and browsing the internet.

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!

Just a usual day today,.. though @super_pie called in for a couple of hours on his way home from school. Then I escorted him and his mate back home.where Ellie did her best to ignore me and Ava thought I was a trampoline..While I was there  @Chris  showed me some PoN related statistics etc.Oh and  @Fan of Big Tone he also showed me his finger as it is now and pictures of when he first had the accident.I'll leave it at that don't want you fainting.

I have made my way up to Canada, delivery was made ahead of the required schedule which is pleasing.

I spent some free time exploring Ontario.

Canada is a nice relaxing nation, I have enjoyed my visits. I am on my way to Utah now, so if I get some time I will make some sporting events if I can. I hope all of the PON members are keeping well.

When people ask what 'American Pie' is about, they're missing the point. The song isn't about the lines themselves - it's about what is between the lines. The song is about what isn't there.
