The Notts county goalkeeper situation as it stand.

So with the straight red card on Saturday against Northampton being shownΒ goalkeeper Ryan Schofield it means he will serve a three match ban as it stands.

Notts have not at this minute In time appealed against the card and more than likely won’t do.Β

So with that said it’s over to former number one Ross Fitzsimons to return to the number one shirt for at least three game.Β

With that said I know a number of people have some concerns about Ross being back especially based on his statistics this season.Β

But based on hisΒ performances on Saturday when he came on I have some hope he will play wellΒ In the games he will get between the sticks.Β

Saturday he looked a lot sharper and more confident making some quality saves and looked for me a different player.Β

I know the next three games are key and if it goes wrong things can happen we all know what could happen but that has to be put to the back of our minds.Β

I know now with the suspension for Ryan means Ross starts but what about a substitute goalkeeper I know it’s not a must but it is a bit of security knowing you have back up goalkeeper to come on if any thing happens.Β

I'm more concerned now about if Ross Fitzsimons becomes injured or getting suspended himself, two of the teams Notts has to face could play 'dirty' if they wanted and I just worry about this. However, Ross deserves praise for this past Saturday - he did well.

I think in the earlier part of the season he could have done better.

Pretty sure we've only lost Schofield for one game. It was a professional foul wasn't it? It can't have beenΒ for dissent or a violent tackle...

"If a player is sent off for a professional foul (egΒ holding an opponent back when they're through on goal) or a second bookable offence they will be handed a one-match ban".

Still it's aΒ great opportunity for Ross, I thought he got some unfair stick earlier in the season. I still think he's decent if given the chance and he'll have aΒ better and more organised team in-front of him now.
