Notts County defender Nick Tsaroulla has quickly adapted to life at Meadow Lane, demonstrating both his skill on the pitch and a genuine passion for the club and its fanbase. The 25-year-old joined Notts over the summer and has since made 14 appearances, totalling 713 minutes. In a recent interview, he spoke openly about his journey, settling in, and his experiences playing in a different position. “It feels like home now,” Tsaroulla shared. “Obviously settling, I was super excited and just tried to continue that. I really found my joy and a little bit of form now. So I'm just trying to sort of roll with it and carry on enjoying it here.” Tsaroulla’s position at Notts has evolved since his arrival, with him frequently playing on the right side of the pitch - an adjustment that has highlighted his versatility. “To be fair, I spoke with the gaffer before and I’m comfortable playing either side. I feel like with the right, I've kind of really taken it in my stride now,” he explained, acknowledging that this switch offers him more attacking options. “It gives me, I don’t want to say too much to the opposition, but kind of gives me even more of an ability to cut in. I know I can use my right foot, having scored quite a few goals with my right foot in my previous season. So I know I can go down the line, cross it.” This adaptability has been advantageous for both Tsaroulla and the team, especially as his counterpart, Kellan Gordon, also switched sides. The two former Crawley players bring a shared understanding to their roles. “We're both comfortable playing either side, and it gives the opposition something else to think about,” he added. “It messes around with the opposition and makes it hard for them to defend us.” With fellow winger Jodi Jones sidelined due to injury, Tsaroulla acknowledges the void left by Jones but remains confident in his unique abilities. “Nah, not at all,” he said when asked if he felt pressured to replicate Jones’ performance. “Everyone knows how good he is, but I'm my own player. I feel like I offer different qualities to Jodi. Obviously, there are similarities where we both can dribble and beat people, but he's Jodi Jones, I'm Nick Tsaroulla, and I feel like I’ll bring a different side to the game that he does.” Known for his instinctual dribbling and ability to beat opponents, Tsaroulla has already impressed Notts fans with his exciting style. His recent match against Barrow was a prime example. Reflecting on his near-goal, he explained, “It’s instinctual for me. I've been doing it since I was young, you know, a little gift of mine. It's just something that I try and go out there, be free, just enjoy myself, and that kind of comes out naturally. It was unfortunate it didn’t go in, but hopefully soon.” Playing at Meadow Lane has been a dream come true for Tsaroulla, who savours each match. “It’s unbelievable,” he said, describing his experience. “I said to my mum and dad that I can never take a home game here for granted. Every time I go out there, you proper take every moment in because you don’t know how long you're gonna have this for, and it’s a special opportunity. So yeah, every time I step out there, I really soak it all in, take it in, and just try and go and enjoy myself.” With the FA Cup approaching, Tsaroulla reflected on his past success in the competition, including his memorable goal for Crawley in a 3-0 win over Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds. “The FA Cup’s a really special competition for me, so every time it comes around, it kind of brings back that special moment in my life,” he revealed. That goal, he said, remains “the best moment in my footballing life.” Now, however, his focus is fully on Notts County. Tsaroulla has a personal connection to the club, one that began even before his signing. Reflecting on an FA Cup clash last year, he shared, “I remember coming away from that game and going, I said to my parents, if there’s a club that I want to play for, it’s this one. You could feel it. Despite us losing, I really enjoyed that game, it was a proper footballing game.” Having achieved his dream, Tsaroulla is grateful to be on the Meadow Lane side of the pitch, with the Notts fans cheering him on. With his skill, passion, and dedication to making the most of each game, he’s set to be a vital player as Notts County continues their campaign. Love Nick’s confidence! He’s bringing a fresh energy and causing trouble for defenders every game. Excited to watch him grow with us.5 points

He just needed the minutes and a chance to settle in. When we signed him, I would have put him in my starting eleven, especially after Aaron Nemane left. He has done well so far, but if he's more comfortable on the right, we should play him there while Jodi Jones is out. We can put Kellan Gordon on the left and mix things up if needed, but I hope Michael Tsaroulla keeps improving.5 points

This is why I love Notts players, they really connect with the fans. Nick’s passion for Meadow Lane is what football’s all about.4 points

Nick has been a great signing for Notts. He's so good going forward, but he's also solid in defence too. Something that was lacking from our wingbacks last season. I believe that he will only get better as the season progresses. We might see him feature as a vital goal scorer, because he does get into good positions up front, as he demonstrated against Barrow.3 points

Very interesting lineup for sure. McGoldrick will have an even bigger role in possession now as Crowley misses out. This is the game where Brown gets his first Notts goal. COYP!2 points

Team News Crowley misses out with a minor groin issue. A bench full of defenders, but young Cisse on the bench2 points

It's been an excellent team performance by Notts today, & it was hard to pick a shortlist, but here is my nine this week. Bass, Bedeau, Brown, Platt, Abbott, McGoldrick,Jatta, Tsaroulla.Palmer1 point

Given the injuries, this was a great 3 points. Notts dominated but Harrogate were dogged. They are a difficult side to beat.1 point

I believed George Abbott ran a very organised defence and gave us confidence with his ability to disrupt the play. I thought today was one of his best performances.1 point

Thanks @Robbie we got here safely and enjoyed a night of eating a lovely curry made by Mrs. T and drinking some nice beer from Magpie brewery, our son brought a keg with him. I’m not sure how I can vote for tomorrows man of the match when I won’t have seen the game or listened to it.1 point

@Chris I like the facility where you can see the number of out & in interactions of members I can see who the mod, Administrator's & Supporters are at the top, but I can't see the members names. The icons on the bottom are still very faint too.1 point

Yep, following on from @Dripsey3's info, Harrogate have only won 1 game away this season at that was a 1-0 win at Colchester (who aren't very good), they've drawn 3 and lost 2. And they've had a pretty easy set of away games up until now too as the only decent away team they've played is Crewe (3-0 loss), the rest were teams in the bottom 8 of the table! Can't go into it thinking it's an easy game, even though on paper it is, because that's when things tend to go horribly wrong. We are pretty good at batting off these mid to lower league teams though so I'd be disappointed it we didn't win because even with or mini-injury crisis we are still have enough quality to get a good result. I'm hoping to see us more on point and fluent in attack like in our earlier home games this season.1 point

Yep, looks very flash. For me, on desktop, when you click the three dots (for more options) in the top right hand of a comment it opens, but it’s behind the comment box itself, so you can’t actually see it. Edit - Although now I've just signed in it works, maybe that's all the problem was!1 point

I don't mind the new style and have spotted a few bells and whistles I hadn't before. And most importantly, it seems to work! However, not everything is quite as visible as it should be - certain users' names (particularly the mods) are hard to read because of a lack of contrast.1 point

Personally, I like it and believe it will be great once the bugs are fixed and feedback is taken into account.1 point

He has been great. I like that he has the confidence that he will score. You need that kind of belief in a striker, and I think he has performed well when starting alongside Jatta.1 point

David McGoldrick has saved us many points this season. His moments of brilliance have led to numerous wins and draws, and the penalties he has converted have kept us at the right end of the League Two table. I believe he is proving to be more important this season than last, as he is showing some great form.1 point

Harrogate is a place I'd like to visit. Anyway back to the football..... Harrogate have scored 11 goals in 15 games. They have conceded 18. This is a game Notts should be winning but I think it will be tighter than expected. Port Vale had to battle hard to beat them last Tuesday, that was at Harrogate though. We have to win these games at home. That's the harsh reality of it. I think we will. 1-0 win.1 point

The important games are coming thick and fast for Notts at the moment. The game on Saturday against Harrogate will be another tough one for Notts to navigate. Key areas will be our defence, midfield & upfront once again. The injury situation is unclear & Maynard didn't really mention it in his press conference. If the players who recently picked up knocks against Wimbledon are now available, this would be my team for Saturday's match. Bass Macari, Platt, Bedeau Gordon,Abbott,Palmer,Tsaroulla, Austin, Crowley, Jatta Subs. McDonald, Slocombe, Martin,Brown, Robertson McGoldrick, Reynolds Just one striker tomorrow to begin with. I've put Didzy on the bench but if he's not needed I'd rest him. Notts need to be up for it from the start. We can't afford to keep conceding early goals My Score. 2:0 Notts.1 point

I still believe we shouldn't rely on him too much, but when he scores and takes penalties so calmly, it's hard to imagine anyone else handling those important moments when we need a boost. It's great that David McGoldrick is setting a good example, but his performance is vital, and we also need to manage his playing time carefully.1 point
-
Didzy has been the star this season for me. His work rate is absolutely incredible, & he has become a mainstay of the team this season He's not just influential upfront, he tracks back & helps in defence too. I think the way Didzy is playing is the perfect example of how Notts are playing as a team this season under Maynard. The team is playing with character, grit, with a will to win & that is exactly what Didzy is doing & he's leading by example.1 point

I’ve been really impressed by how McGoldrick is handling this season. He’s playing with the energy of a much younger man but with the wisdom that only comes from years of experience. The way he described knowing he’d score the penalty, even after playing 95 minutes, just shows how much belief he has in himself. It’s great to have a player like him in the squad, especially one who cares as much about the team’s success as his own. His comments on clean sheets show his maturity, he understands that we need to be solid at the back to win matches, which is crucial. McGoldrick is the kind of leader we need if we want to keep pushing for promotion.1 point

At this particular time. I don't care how Notts get a result. I just want a positive result by any means available. It doesn't have to be pretty or cultured or attractive. I just want Notts to be mean at the back, strong & physical in midfield & take their chances up front when they become available. We have to remember we had seven players unavailable for the Barrow match, including our best player & several important squad members, who would have started the match if they'd been fit. Notts just have grind out results if necessary & the pretty football can go on the back burner for now, & get to the end of the year in touch with the leaders. Stop the opposition scoring & you only have to score one to win. That's what Notts should be aiming for at this time.. Aim to win at home, try to be undefeated away & get the odd win. That's a good recipe for success1 point

Reading the Comments of other PON Members in this Section. Aren't You All Fed Up Of Continuingly Repeating Yourselves? None of Us are Professional Coaches But We All Can See Where the Magpies are Going Wrong and We continue to Ask Why The Hell Can't Stuart Maynard? The Answer to That maybe look at the Magpies Current League Position, despite the Fact in some Games this Season Where Notts have Ridden Their Luck, the Dice seem to have Fallen in the Magpies Favour. They shouldn't have gotten a Point at either Chesterfield or last night at Barrow, but somehow they Did and as long as Notts Keep getting these points or Sneaking a Win, expect more of the Same Playing Wise. It seemed that Maynard had begun to Mix things up at the Start of the Season and it paid off Handsomely, but for some Strange reason the Notts Head Coach seems to be Going Back To His Old Bad Habits, so what is it going to take him to Switch Back? Have Notts Got To End Up Getting a Right Good Old Fashion Thumping or losing Matches on a Regular basis? When the Fans start getting on Maynard's Back Again? Regarding the Harrogate Match, I Think Another Boring Draw or Perhaps Notts Might Just Scrape a Win.1 point

We play too defensively half the time. We need to try to push further up the field and make use of our creative players to create more chances. I hope we opt for a more settled back three. I would also like to see Jatta and David McGoldrick start in the lineup.1 point

Based on yesterday's performance, I believe we need to focus on putting the ball into areas where we can take shots. Instead of trying to walk the ball into the net, I found Notts to be quite unimpressive, and I think Harrogate will aim to defend tightly and block our attempts. At this point, it’s clear how much Jodi Jones is thinking about how to adapt to the opposition, yet no one seems to be doing the same. We can isolate Jatta and expect him to take chances, but yesterday he rarely had more than two players near him. No one tried to create space, draw a defender away, or open up opportunities for others. This is something we really need to start doing.1 point
