Couldn't believe Charlie's 2nd goal....to hit the ball 1st time from DMs pass was brilliant....most players would have taken a touch.....most players would have put the ball into the stand....Charlie didn't....a brilliant strike...5 points

First and foremost, it was a fantastic team performance. However, my vote had to go to Charlie Whitaker. Highlighting individual standouts after the event wouldn't be fair to the team, so I'll simply commend Whitaker for elevating his game to a whole new level.4 points
-
The back 3 were all solid, Bedeau in particular got forward really well. Abbott was everywhere like usual, Tsaroulla had one his best games and McGoldrick always looked dangerous and a threat on the ball. I think it's hard to argue against Whitaker though, two superb goals and his all-round game was really solid too.4 points
-
One can tell a complete team performance by the number of different players nominated. Abbott showed us today why he will be a big miss when he leaves, but going with the flow, Whitaker strikes showed the extra piece of class4 points

Purely based on the commentary and reports I have read (of which I have read multiple), I have voted for Charlie Whitaker, who is looking like a very important young player to retain.4 points

Notts have eight cup finals to the end of the season & it starts away to Newport County. Other teams around Notts keep losing. I can't remember a league being as poor as this one has been this season. Just when you think a team is going to put a run together they unexpectedly lose. Bradford & Colchester have been the only teams to have put a decent run together during February & March. Despite the Notts poor form, they are still in with a shouting chance of getting automatic promotion. Unfortunately, help from other teams isn't going to last & Notts need to start winning starting on Saturday. Somehow, I feel more confident with Notts being away rather than them being at home.4 points

A vital win today for Notts away to Newport County today. A great team performance from the lads today. I have chosen the starting 11 for you to choose your OON Man of the Match from. Those players are:- Slocombe, Bedeau, Platt Whitaker, McGoldrick, Palmer, Tsaroulla, Macari, Jatta, Abbott, Jarvis. Please choose your player & let us know why you chose him.3 points

A vital win for Notts today and a great team performance too. My top four players today are Matty Platt, Nick Tsaroulla, Charlie Whitaker, & David McGoldrick. The Notts defence was solid today & Matty was the luck of the defenders for me today. David McGoldrick was as influential as ever, & Nick Tsaroulla had an excellent game too. I think that Charlie Whitaker had his best game for Notts today. He looked as though he wanted to make the number 10 role his own, & his two goals was the icing on the cake. So Charlie gets my nod as Man of the match.3 points

Just to let everyone know, @Hi Humans ツ is my eldest daughter, Ellie. Her predictions, I believe, are a joke for @super_ram. I don't know how seriously she's taking this competition, but she doesn't mean any harm.3 points

Sam hasn't had much first team football this season until Alex Bass was injured & many of the Notts fans were saying that losing Bass for probably the rest of the season was a big blow to Notts's promotion ambition.. However, Sam has come into the side & he has two clean sheets to his name in the three matches he has played since Bass's injury. I am confident that Sam will be a good replacement for Bass during the run in till the end of the season. Do other Pride of Nottingham members agree or disagree with me?3 points

Newport County are a difficult team to play at home; their ground just makes it feel more comfortable for them, and it's not an easy place to play 'pretty football'. Newport also fit the mould of being a team that is happy to bully, waste time, frustrate, and just do anything within their power to stop teams playing. They are fully capable of mixing how they play, so I would hope that between Matt Palmer and George Abbott we can control the midfield battle. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if we struggled to get shots on target but retained the usual higher amount of possession. We need to be direct and dangerous, but steady at the back. If Notts can make good movement, maybe it will prove different, but I just feel this is one of those games where Newport will either sit for the draw or shock us on the counter-attack.3 points
-
He's more of an old style goalkeeper rather than a ball playing one, and he doesn't seem so comfortable with the ball at his feet. But that part of his game has improved massively in the last couple of years and I can't imagine too many better number two keepers in L2. He seems a fantastic professional, brilliant to have a round the place to help the other keepers and focussed and ready to step up when needed, as he's proved. His big failing is penalties, so if we have to go through the play offs, we'd better win in normal time!3 points

The results: Crawley Town 1-0 Bristol Rovers Wrexham 1-0 Stockport County Bradford City 4-1 Colchester United Carlisle United 2-1 Bromley Chesterfield 0-0 Harrogate Town Oldham Athletic 2-0 Halifax Town Solihull Moors 0-3 Yeovil Town Wealdstone 1-0 Woking --- Most of you managed to beat me, so well done. Congrats to this round's glorious winners @Dan and @super_ram! --- There's little change in our table overall, but @super_ram is now within striking distance of @ARLukomski at the top... --- That's it for now, but on Saturday we will have another round, so keep your eyes peeled for the next fixtures tomorrow. Thanks for playing!3 points

He's a good choice as far as backup goalkeepers in League Two go. He struggled last season due to a calamitous defence and the constant rotation with Stone; with a steadier defence in front of him, he'll do a steady enough job. That said, he still has his "moments" and I'd be glad to see Bass back again.3 points
-
It depends on wage demands for me. I think he's looking better each game as he adapts to League football. There are very few George Abbott's or Ryan Yates' who step in as if they've been doing it for years and most young players take time to adapt. I'd be very happy to keep him and hope we can get an agreement. With the likes of him and Jarvis, it allows us to get in some experience for balance.3 points
-
I probably won't have the time to watch the game live, but I will try to keep an eye on the score. @super_ram: fingers crossed the stand for your new TV will be set up in time for the game, as I know you will be watching. I expect updates from everyone who manages to watch the game.3 points

it really depends on how we start and how the opposition does themselves, but it is a must win game. i think notts has to be careful and its important to avoid playing like we did against salford. teams you feel notts should do better against often sees us struggle. i can see the game being similar to the morecambe game where its largely uneventful and even at the end of the game. i would hope its not a draw but i can see it, newport are never a simple team at their ground.2 points

An effective manager for lower-league teams. I feel Shrewsbury have made a sensible appointment to replace Gareth Ainsworth. I can understand why Gillingham wanted him; it hasn't worked out with Shrewsbury this season, but at Gillingham it should be smoother to transition into what their potential is.2 points

I think we are more relaxed away from home. It is a must win game for us given recent home form2 points

Cal Roberts is a great player; it's a shame his injuries have impacted his career so much, but it's great to see him doing well. Scunthorpe have had a lot of problems in recent years; how they splashed the cash when they didn't really have it impacted the club. I hope with Robert's form, things are picking up for them and that he can help them gain promotion back to the EFL in the near future. It would be nice to see him playing at that level, but it's more important to just see him enjoying football.2 points

I don't think it's constructive to pick at a keeper who's covering; the club clearly have faith, and I don't think all of the blame Sam Slocombe gets is fair. Notts treated Aidan Stone awfully; some fans did, and somehow Slocombe has proved he can be called upon when he's needed. Two players like Alex Bass would be a luxury, but I agree with the sentiment that he's good enough to be back-up. I also echo that we should ensure that we play to his strengths. When you put your focus on tactics over ability, it will always lead to weaknesses. Strengths must be factored in before you come up with a strategy and game plan. Under Luke Williams, Notts insisted that he had to play the ball out from the back, using his feet, and the problem more than anything is the players in front of him not making space. Bass becomes very vocal and annoyed when this happens; it's also part of why we concede because nobody is focusing on going forward. Modern football sees good players who are approaching the end of their playing days disregarded and treated poorly. Slocombe is perfectly fine as a League Two keeper, and looks much better with our defensive improvements, but we need to stop this backward passing when teams are wise to the movement. It's just asking for mistakes, and whilst Slocombe might have plenty of time, we need to remember he's not comfortable in this scenerio. You'd never insist a right-footed winger should use their left foot. Nor would you tell a striker to spend most of his time defending, at the cost of attacking. As I say, it's all about strengths, making space and working as a team.2 points

I agree, there are smaller countries that struggle to put together a national team and still find approval. I can't say I know why they aren't already recognised as an international football team, but they should be.2 points

No reason why they shouldn't be allowed to have an international football team playing on the World stage They do have a domestic football tournament which is a prerequisite to having an international team. Football in Greenland - Wikipedia EN.M.WIKIPEDIA.ORG2 points

i dont think a lot of the stick sam slocombe gets is fair, i can understand why people might think hes past his best or prone to mistakes but much of this is caused by us not playing to his strengths. expecting him to be comfortable to pass the ball with his feet, when this has never been a strong point is just a flaw in the tactics and i have been much happier to see that slocombe does not have to play it out like this. the mistake he made in the last game came from him being passed the ball, blame should be on both him and the defender, i think it was lewis macari and even though slocombe had time with a wandering striker its not the best idea when limited options are on. as backup and to fill in, hes completely fine. he should be encouraged not constantly dismissed or called out for his lack of ability because hes has been a good servant and some fans just dont like him for whatever reason but it does become a player easily blamed.2 points
-
Great to see he's back on form and having a good season. However, for me it's tinged with a little sadness that he's playing at that level - he looked an unbelievable player at times in the NL and I'd have loved to see how he'd get on in League Two or higher.2 points
-
This is a very strange one. Shrewsbury are bottom of League 1 & look as though they will be back in League 2 next season. Very strange for a Club to appoint a Head Coach who was about to see his present club on the way to being relegated. Gillingham must be seeing something in him that most of the rest of football lovers don't. It has been confirmed in the last hour that he has become Gillingham first Team Manager. I wish him luck with his new position. Very clever move from Ainsworth, jumping ship before being forced to walk the plank.2 points

I'm pleased that Cal Roberts is doing well for Scunthorpe after all the injury problems that he has had in the recent past. It looks like Scunthorpe are set for promotion from the National League North & Cal is playing a big part in their resurgence. It will be nice the see Scunthorpe back in the National League & hopefully they may be challenging for Football League status next season, so long as they achieve promotion. Lots of Notts fans like myself we're sorry to see Cal leave Notts but as our owners always say, everyone has their price & Cal was no exception. It didn't work out for him at Aberdeen but he is thriving at a lower level with Scunthorpe. I may be wrong, but I do feel he would struggle with the physicality of playing for a League 2 club like Notts.2 points

I can't imagine money will be a problem as he loves the club and our owners play fair. We won't be looking to underpay him and he won't be looking to squeeze every penny out of us. His influence right throughout the club is massive so absolutely offer him another deal.2 points
-
Or maybe we damaged his confidence by putting him into such a leaky defence? I watched Aston Villa U21 v Norwich U21 earlier this season - excellent game, good pace and great technique as you'd expect. Both Mahovo and Warner played, and our by looked by far the better.2 points

It was a reasonable performance from England tonight against a Latvian side that were content to get 10 men behind the ball and make it difficult for England. Latvia only managed one shot on goal in the whole match such was England's dominance. In the first half England's build up play was ok, but time after time the final ball wasn't good. It took a fantastic free kick from around 25 yards out from James to break the deadlock, that went over the wall & into the top right hand corner of the goal after 35 minutes. In the second half England's passing was much slicker & they managed to get behind the Latvian defence for Kane to tap in from a cross after 70 minutes, his 71st goal for England. Five minutes later Eze cut inside on the left & his shot was deflected into the net off a Latvian defender. This was a goal on his debut for England. So a comfortable win in the end for England & 3 points to begin their World Cup qualifying campaign. Tuchel will be pleased with the win but I'm sure he'll want that final ball to be much better.2 points

The role I see in David McGoldrick is a player that performs by example, and when in form is difficult to see replaced in the starting XI even at the age of 37. I can understand the comments about the reliance we have on him, but this is a sign of the quality he brings and the lack of cover for what he brings to the team. I am not suggesting we need to sign someone similar, as having difficult options is always helpful, but I am thinking about the skills players only gain from experience and having played at a much higher level. I would offer him another year, and I would hope he considered it. At this point, I don't begrudge him being one of our highest (if not the highest) earners. I think he has worked for it, and proven his worth. Though, I think moving forward we might need to offer a little less, knowing that his role could change at any point. None of us can say if he can keep going; he will know his body. I can admit I have been skeptical and a little cynical of McGoldrick at times, but there's no doubt he's been a major part in the club moving forward. If I were the club, I would see if he's interested in helping with the academy players and passing his wealth of knowledge to them in a playing/coaching role.2 points

I know members and subscribers understand, but I had to take another step back just to get to grips with the downside to my health. I will be making every effort to crack on, and whilst I know nobody has asked for any explanations, I do feel bad about being inconsistent. I would like to thank all who subscribe and donate because it takes a huge amount of pressure off funding the site. Speaking openly, the amount in costs can be concerning with the cost of living, and everyone trying to get by with such silly prices for electricity, gas, and food. I do not take for granted the amazing support, not one bit.2 points

For me, fighters like George Foreman, Muhammad Ali, and Mike Tyson are what's missing from modern-day boxing. People like Tyson Fury would never have been able to manage any of those three, and that's what is missed. Due to the standard these days, it's rare for me to get excited about boxing in general, but I can certainly appreciate those fighters before. When I am in the mood, I do enjoy watching boxing documentaries and past fights on YouTube. It really shows the decline in the sport, where these days it's all about hyping the fight and the money, instead of a good fight itself. George Foreman will always be remembered for the great boxer he was and for his ability to sell grills faster than Hulk Hogan. My thoughts are with the Foreman family and his friends. Rest in peace, George Foreman.2 points
