Seeing as this site is getting much more popular, I was wondering if any of you would be interested in a friendlyย 5-a-side game of football once a fortnight/month. Gives a chance to play football... and, maybe talk football at theย pub afterwards ![]()

Notts Ladies Jess Clarke Nomination
Notts County Ladies forward Jess Clarke admits it came as a shock to her to discover she had been nominated for the FA Womenรขโฌโขs Playersรขโฌโข Player of the Year award. The 25-year-old, who has been called up to the England squad for the friendly with Germany on November 23, finished the season with 15 goals in all competitions and has been shortlisted for the prestigious accolade that will be presented in London on Friday.
Madame Tussauds is the venue for the glittering ceremony and Clarke is proud to be shortlisted for the top award alongside Birminghamรขโฌโขs Karen Carney and Chelseaรขโฌโขs Ji So Yun.
รขโฌลI put in a lot of hard work at the start of the season and I was scoring goals,รขโฌย Clarke told Sky Sports News HQ. รขโฌลI was a threat up front but I never thought I would be nominated for the Playersรขโฌโข Player of the Year award.
Delighted
รขโฌลIรขโฌโขm absolutely delighted, itรขโฌโขs amazing to be honest. It took me completely by surprise but at the same time itรขโฌโขs nice to be recognised by your fellow players.
รขโฌลThe leagueรขโฌโขs really competitive at the minute and there are a number of players who have had really solid seasons and to be recognized in that company is a massive compliment.
รขโฌลItรขโฌโขs not by chance that those players have also been nominated and I think they are both worthy candidates and whoever wins on the night will probably be deserving of the trophy.รขโฌย
A serious knee injury to team-mate Ellen White gave Clarke, who has spent much of her career playing out wide, the chance to operate as the focal point of Countyรขโฌโขs attack last season.
Character
Clarke is confident England striker White will be back to her best soon and will add quality to Countyรขโฌโขs squad next term.
รขโฌลEllenรขโฌโขs a tough character and I know she will come back from her injury very strong,รขโฌย Clarke said.
รขโฌลHer injury was disappointing for everyone. We were working a lot with each other during pre-season and working very effectively with one another.
รขโฌลIt will be massive when we get Ellen back. It will really push our squad on and make us stronger.รขโฌย

Hi @the don 1957 and welcome to our friendly community. It's great to see you on here

I think I can guess who your favourite player is and how old you are so we know two things about you, why not fill in the gaps and let us know a bit more.

As MAD seems to be going towards a รยฃ2 per month subscription for ad-free viewing, we might have an influx of members in the next few weeks. I don't expect many to seriously pay to view MAD, but the other side of the coin is the mods on here need to keep tight control as I would really hate to see the debates we have here descend into intolerance and disrespect like they do on there.

So, it's the first round of the F.A Cup and for once we're the home team!
I have no idea whatsoever about Stanley, I really don't know much about them but I do expect a good game. One which I would be disappointed in seeing us lose, we need a solid performance and our fans to really impact the game. If we play like we can, I see no reason why we couldn't score a couple.
No disrespect to our opposition but any League Two team should be ours for the taking.
That said I am sure we all remember what happened when we met Rotherham at Meadow Lane a few seasons back, well before they gain promotion. I bet you do @BradtheMiller ![]()

I thought this might be an interesting thread but I quite understand if people don't want to join in.
ย
How old are you? I was just curious as to the age range of our members.
ย
I'll start, I was born in 1952 if my maths are right that makes me 62 (I've stopped counting). I started watching Notts in the early 60s.

Should he move to Chelsea, sign with Villa or perhaps track a move to somewhere else?
I personally hope that he doesn't sign for Chelsea, I think he would break into the team if he did. Yet I think it would take some time, whereas he's on the verge with Villa. If he did sign for Chelsea, I honestly see them getting rid of him after a few years no matter how good he performs, they have a tendency to always want some "new star" and the left midfield position as never been a good area for British/Irish people.
I'd stay with Villa, unless a team like Stoke, Hull came in for him.
Thoughts?

What are peoples thoughts on the recent resurgence of AQ under their new Caliphate?
Middle Eastern politics has always been a big interest of mine and the current situation is no surprise.
What is more of a surprise to me is the way the Western media is portraying this as an 'abduct and behead westerners group.'ย
They have been pushing the hard line Sunni idea for a while now. Shia have been killed in their thousands and nobody blinked an eyelid over here or he US.
Suddenly a few Westerners are abducted and dealt with in the same way and it is major news.
ย
Don't misinterpret me here.
Their actions are vile and wrong. Indiscriminate and targetted killings are not acceptable in any society, but surely the Western Governments need to restrict travel for their citizens to countries like these until the home troops of the Middle East can be trained to deal with the pressure.

I know Nottingham is mainly Forest fans, but are there any areas where you would expect to find more Notts County fans? Moved from Nottingham to London at the age of 2 so never really knew much about the Nottingham derby. I assume it's less tribal in Nottingham than London because the stadiums are very close so less likely to be a north/south divide.

Would be grateful for any info thanks ![]()

It's a hard question to ask, however that doesn't put me off. No doubt the players tried, it just wasn't there and some will no doubt stand out for this reason because they kept at it.

What does everyone want?
ย
Obviously most people will want a home tie. Apologies to the rest of you, but fromย a purely selfish point of view I'd love a southern away tie against someone like Plymouth, Exeter, Bristol Rovers, or Eastleigh. One of the london clubs would be good for me too. I just can't be bothered to wait until January to see us ![]()

The youth team wonย on Saturday morning, beating Bradford City 3-2 in dreadful rainy and windy conditions.
ย
Aย close game was always in prospect with Bradford sitting in third place in the league with Notts in sixth.
ย
Notts took the lead after only fifteen minutes with a fantastic shot from the edge of the area by Ben Browne which crashed against the underside of the bar before going into the net giving the visiting 'keeper no chance.
ย
Notts were ahead for only five minutes when a loose ball in the Notts penalty area was hammered home by a Bradford forward to make the score 1-1.
ย
After 40 minutes Notts got themselves back in the lead when a new player from Wolves whose name I don't know yet, was brought down in the area and the penalty was cooly fired home by Colby Bishop for a 2-1 lead.
ย
Right on half time an error in the Notts defence allowed Bradford in for the equaliser again.
ย
The second half was evenly contested but both defences were tighter and it wasn't until about fifteen minutes from the end when a quality free kick by Kyle Symons was headed home powerfully by centre-back Rhys Myers which ensured Notts collected all three points.
ย
A good display by the young 'Pies in atrocious conditions.

So who's celebrating Guy Fawkes night tonight? Are you having your own display or going to an organised one?
We are going to our grandson George's school on Friday for their display.
Our cat will spend the next few nights behind the settee no doubt, he hates this time of year. I often wonder how it affects wildlife too.

Tonight's 2-0 win in Cyprus makes it 18 games without defeat in league, cup and Europa league since the start of the season, beating 17 at the start of 70-71.
I'm getting carried away, I was even disappointed with a draw against FC Bayern a couple of weeks ago. The triple is still on!
