  1. So, I have wanted to try to attend more games. (I've done this) I wanted to take the step a little further and from the kindness shown by 2piesonmyshirt driving myself + Jake all the way to Hartlepool and back, it made me taste what the 'away day' is like. I really wanted to feel like I did that day, to sum up so easily doesn't justify it but it was simply amazing.

Kim kindly offered to allow me and Jake to tag along to the game against Swindon.

Both myself and him were excited, we later found out WeymouthPie would be attending and it became so much more important. (met and finally said hello to some very nice people) I love how bright and engaging Jake responded to the trip, however the whole day will be one of them we both will remember. As you can tell I feel very sentimental, as a father who wants the best for his children (as most do) I get so much joy from seeing him happy.

Performances might leave fans asking questions but this was very kind by all involved, I am very PROUD. (hard not to be)

  2. Joe mentioned this to me, i thought we should discuss it. nice to read the statement but leaves me with a few questions.

    what do you think?

  3. Local newspapers in Sheffield are reporting that Sheffield United have parted company with Danny Wilson following last night's 2-0 loss at home to Crawley Town. That defeat left United six points adrift of second placed Bournemouth although they still have two games in hand, so automatic promotion is still achievable but I think it's fair to say they're nowhere near the side they were last season. Could be said that when Ched Evans went to jail, their ruthlessness went.

Think the timing is ludicrous though. If they were going to do it, do it at the end of the season. I really dont see what difference sacking him at this time of the season will make.

Wonder who they'll get as a replacement. Neil Warnock to return to his boyhood club? Appleton?

  4. Martin Allen's Gillingham have gained promotion from League 2 and will be playing Notts next season, it will be great to see him back at the Lane and I'm sure he'll get a good reception.

I'm really pleased for him after he was (in my opinion) unfairly ousted from his position at Notts.

  5. Will be making the hour or so journey to Dean Court for my final Notts game of the season tommorow. Have to say, realistically I'm expecting us to lose and not really cuase Bournemouth too many problems, but hoping to have a laugh, have a bit of a sing-song and generally just have an enjoyable day out. Determined to make the most of my last Notts game of the season :)

Then again you never know in football do you? Remember Notts County v Bury last season? Bury had nothing to play for, Notts had everything to gain but Bury came and turned us over 4-2. The tables are turned tommorow and we'll be playing the role of Bury if you like. Who knows?

I just hope we go for it. We're not going to get relegated but we're not going to win anything so what's the harm in just going for it? Not only is there no point in us going there for a point, but it's not entertaining and we'll probably get a beating if we do it. Against Brentford we proved we could cause one of the promotion challengers problems for the last 20 minutes and had chances to take a draw.

Anyone else coming down? Come say hello if you see me :)

  7. I asked on FB which got so many responses, I hadn't expected it but made my day when I noticed that people kept adding the people they thought/like most. Why consider adding yours?

Jimmy (no doubt) but if I went by people I've seen/met. Michale Johnson, Lee Hughes.

So many players prior I wished I had witness them grace the field, although any list I did make does have the potential to go on. (which I do enough)

Who would your top 3 be?

  8. I know a lot of you were at the match on Saturday and Tony is enjoying a pint somewhere. So what have I been doing, well nothing much.Basically the weather put paid to any plans and I've just been pottering about trying to keep warm.I must say, though, I don't miss getting up at 5am to go to work.I was hoping to get in the garden and tidy up the winter debris before the end of March.Looking at the forecast there doesn't seem much chance of that.Anyone done anything interesting?

  9. Labadie returns to County

<!--url{0}-->Notts County have recalled midfielder Joss Labadie from his loan spell at League Two side Torquay.

Labadie, who joined the Magpies on a free transfer last summer after leaving Tranmere, moved to Plainmoor at the start of March but has been brought back from the League Two club after just under a month in Devon.

As part of the deal that took the 22-year-old midfielder to Torquay, the Magpies included a clause allowing them to recall the player at 24 hours' notice - an option that the club have now taken up.

Labadie scored four goals in seven appearances during his short spell with the Gulls.

He will now be available for Notts County's trip to Bournemouth on Saturday, with fellow midfielder Alan Judge due to start a two-match suspension.
  10. I spoke to a couple of friends at yesterdays Fan Forum, I didn't have a pen or my mobile with me so I could not double check the site address as I have mine bookmarked. Can we invite people to the site? It came up in conversation after a couple of comments were made. I'm surprised that neither had heard of the site before I mentioned it. Also Joe, I will ask family members back in Nottingham to help spread the word.

  11. Doncaster move closer to automatic promotion, as do Bournemouth after what sounds like a somewhat controversial refereeing display against Notts..Yeovil move to 3rd after beating the Shrews, though I think Shrews should be OK. Although Walsall could only manage a draw at home against Sheffield Utd it does leave them handily placed on equal points with Tranmere..Swindon ,having games in hand are even better placed at 6th and they will also be disappointed that Walsall didn't win.

Elsewhere,Gillingham will be at Meadow Lane next season after securing promotion and Mansfield's 4 away at Barrow has done their hopes of a return to the Football League no harm.

In the Championship Blackburn slip into the relegation area  and my lot missed another penalty(that's 3 misses in the last games) losing at home to Ipswich right at the death.

  13. Today Joe's daughter,my grand daughter,Ellie is 5.Have a good day,Ellie.

She sat on my knee v Bury singing 'the wheelbarrow song'

  14. I'm trying very hard to incorporate a little more time into the social streams, it's a good way with connecting with people and I enjoy every aspect but times very limiting at times. (I'm sure members relate)

Here's a game I've posted on our FB page and Twitter account. (slightly changing the image)

Can any of our members name who this is, as we play 'Guess Who?'.

  15. I don't like saying this but I was speechless, I mean, I found myself sitting on a table eagerly listening to what was being said but this place has opened my eye's even wider than before. I honestly feel although some valid/good questions did get asked, many sadly failed to reach a point. I've given myself a tough task about writing about it (though I am struggling here).

The video link didn't work, massive failure and a disappointment to the evening for myself.

It made me wonder if any practice sessions actually happened, but we move on of course. Yet Mr Trew's opinions would have been a highlight, I liked Chris and he put himself across very well.

I expected it to be far worse, fireworks infact but then again I should have expected that 'comments' wouldn't have been raised. I feel the board should be wondering what they've missed out on because for me it wasn't all that constructive. I don't know anything new that I didn't know prior to attending.

God ,I hope fans realize how vital it is for us to get back to supporting the club we know and love. I worry, I shouldn't but I do.

    Your thoughts?

  16. Congratulations to the youth team in beating Shrewsbury 2-1 today, to reach the Midland Youth Cup final. You Young Pies!

  17. I've just been looking at the members on this forum and I am the 5th top poster, WHOO HOO, look out liampie, super ram, cheeky-K8 and Notts-Joe, I coming up on the rails. :D

I think I have the third most "likes" for my posts too so I must be doing something right.

I'm not a fan of Ricky, this is pretty funny though. Thoughts? What would you pass onto the future generations?

  19. It looks like Pilkington will remain in goal, yet I would not be surprised to see Bart instead. Just read the O/S, not a fan of their site without sounding negative.

Chris Kiwomya: "It’s another hard game against another side in the top six or seven and we have to get the recovery in and go out and play some attacking football." (Magpie Player)

Gary Johnson: "You've got to be wary of the team that's got nothing to gain or nothing to lose. You've definitely got to be up for it, because if you go a goal up they sometimes think it doesn't matter and if you go a goal down they'll be like Barcelona and we've got to be ready for that." (Glovers Player

I had hope to read the match preview here, although I will make do with the official one. I see Yeovil being a real threat, they know how to put a team out within a budget and have some handy players. I see this one being a draw at the best, I will hope that we can win but without any real upfront threat I just don't see it.

  20. On a three year deal.

Is that when the fixed price season ticket expires?

  21. Once again the results have not been what members wanted.Notts losing and hopes of a playoff place all but gone now.Other teams drawing and prolonging the agony. The upset of the day was probably Coventry beating table toppers Donny. This result will make Doncaster all the more determined when they play Swindon on Monday And Coventry will be boosted  for their visit to Walsall.Shrews have a difficult match against Crawley.A few members will have an eye on Notts result  with Yeovil being your opposition.

The Rams are away at the old enemy Leeds managed by Neil Warnock.Leeds conceded 3  after having a player sent off and Rams scored 3 against lowly Bristol City.

Things may be a bit clearer after these games.Good luck all.

  22. Npower Football League Spotlight Q&A - Jamal Campbell Ryce

<!--url{0}-->The 2012/13 campaign is about to enter the final straight, with promotion pushes and relegation battles now in full swing.

Here at Sky Sports, we continue to take you to the very heart of the Football League, with our Spotlight features intended to give you a greater insight into the clubs and players that keep us on the edge of our seats.

We are hoping to bring you the views and thoughts of a representative from each of the 72 teams over the course of the season, with those involved asked to give their take on the division they compete in, the club that pays their wages and those we should all be keeping an eye on.

Notts County's Jamal Campbell-Ryce is next in the hot-seat, with the Magpies winger taking time out to discuss an improvement in front of goal, managerial changes and his hopes for the future with Chris Burton.

How are you reflecting on the season so far, for the club and for yourself?

From the team's perspective, we are obviously a little bit disappointed with where we are in the league because, with the football we play, we feel we should be a lot higher. I think it just boils down to the fact that we haven't scored enough goals. That reflects not just on the strikers, but the whole team. On a personal level, I have been really happy with my performances on the whole this year. I feel I have been quite consistent and have added a few goals as well, which has been good.

You're the club's top scorer at the moment, have you made an extra effort to get yourself into the right positions in the final third?

Yeah. I have always been told a lot in my career that with the type of player I am that I should be scoring more goals. The people that have told me that are probably right. It has happened that I have managed to score a few more goals this year. But from a team perspective we feel we should be a lot higher, so that's a little bit disappointing.

It's been difficult, though, hasn't it for everyone? You were signed by Keith Curle, then he leaves and it is never easy when a change like that happens mid-season.

I think you have hit the nail on the head. I'm Keith Curle's player, I spoke to him a lot over the summer and we built up quite a relationship. I know it's part and parcel of football that managers come and go, but it was hugely disappointing. It felt like he was building something great here, but I know he'll get into another job and I wish him all the best. It was disappointing and hurtful.

You have got a new manager in now, is that being viewed as a fresh start and a clean slate for everyone?

We have got Chris Kiwomya in. He took the helm for a couple of games and I think he has got it until the end of the season now. He's trying, in his first managerial job, to take the team forward and do well for himself and for the team. Hopefully he can do that.

Are the play-offs still regarded as a realistic target, with nine points currently separating you from the top six?

Yeah, 100 per cent. Until it's mathematically impossible for us, we will always be striving for that. But to get there you have to win games and we have drawn quite a few of our last few games. We really need to turn those performances into wins and start putting some real pressure on the teams in front of us.

It's been an odd one hasn't it because you enjoyed a really good pre-season and then started really well, only to then see things start to unravel?

Frustrating I think the word is. Anybody that has come to watch us play will say that we are definitely up there in the top two or three teams that play the best football in the league. I say that quite easily. We create chance after chance but it's not just the strikers, it's all over the park that we are missing chances and we need to do better and start converting them.

It's a very competitive division isn't it? What have you made of the league as a whole and what it takes to be successful?

I think you need to learn how to scrap first. You need to win the battle first before you think about the footballing side. We have gone into games and sometimes been a bit naive, just trying to football teams to death and that doesn't work because teams will just sit back and let you play in front of them. I definitely feel that you have to work hard and earn the right to play first.

For you, you spent five years playing in the Championship at Barnsley and Bristol City - I take it that is a level you would like to return to sooner rather than later?

100 per cent. I have got aspirations to play as high as possible for as long as possible. Coming to Notts County, coming down a league, was quite disappointing but I am lucky enough to have come a club that are a big football club. Obviously it would be great to help Notts County get to the Championship, but I have still got massive aspirations and feel that I could do a very good job in the Championship.

Having moved last summer, are you looking for a period of stability?

It would be nice but, at the end of the day, you never know what is around the corner. You never know who is looking. You say you do want stability, but if an opportunity comes and you move again, then you go where it is going to help your career and help you to move forward in life. You never know what is around the corner, so get your head down and work hard for yourself and the team.

Finally, are you setting yourself any targets for the remainder of the campaign?

I would like to get to double figures for the season. The play-offs is also one of the aims for the team. It would be nice to do that and get to double figures.
  23. Martin O'Neill sacked as Sunderland manager after Manchester United defeat

<!--url{0}-->Martin O'Neill has parted company with Sunderland after only 16 months as manager.

The Black Cats lost 1-0 to leaders Manchester United in Saturday's lunchtime kick-off that left them without a win in eight games.

It was also a result that left them perilously one point above the drop zone with seven games remaining in the Premier League.

A statement on the club website read: "Sunderland AFC has announced that it has parted company with manager Martin O'Neill this evening.

"The club would like to place on record its thanks to Martin and wishes him well for the future. An announcement will be made in the coming days regarding a successor."

The former Wycombe, Leicester, Celtic and Aston Villa boss was appointed on 3 December 2011 in a three-year deal as replacement for Steve Bruce and guided the team to top-flight safety with seven victories in his first 10 games to finish in 13th spot.

Facing the might of Manchester United on Saturday was not the type of game to boost confidence for a team stuttering at the wrong end of the table with the contest settled by an own goal by defender Titus Bramble.

After the match at the Stadium of Light, O'Neill, whose record over 66 games at Sunderland was 21 wins and 25 defeats, had tried to paint a positive picture on their hopes to avoid the dreaded drop.

The 61-year-old Northern Irishman told Sky Sports: "Confidence is a major thing in the game and we are striving for it, but I thought the players can take a great deal of confidence from that second-half performance.

"We have to go and put it right, and we intend to do so. There is a determination in that dressing room to get the points. Nothing is too easy in this game, but we are up for the challenge."
    Genuine optimism

O'Neill had never made any secret of his boyhood affection for the club and the chance to manage them fulfilled a long-held dream.

His start was just what owner and chairman Ellis Short was looking for as a run of seven victories in his first 10 league games eased the club out of relegation trouble and sent spirits soaring.

The Black Cats ran out of steam towards the end of the campaign, but with their top-flight status secured and the promise of a summer rebuilding programme, attention turned to the new campaign with genuine optimism.

That only increased when Short provided O'Neill with a total of £22million with which to buy Scotland international striker Steven Fletcher and England winger Adam Johnson, and the American put his hand in his pocket once again in January to add Danny Graham and Alfred N'Diaye to the squad.

However, only Fletcher, who was this week ruled out for the remainder of the season with ankle ligament damage, has hit the ground running with his 11 goals a major contribution to the 31 points they have claimed to date.

Johnson in particular has failed to recreate the form he showed in his early days at Middlesbrough and then in spells after his move to Manchester City, while Graham is yet to find the back of the net in seven appearances.

Short has been unhappy with results for several weeks, but writing in his programme notes for Saturday's game, he called for a united front.

He said: "Of course, there is nobody that is happy with our current position and the way our season is going. The reality is that we have a fight on our hands with eight games remaining.

"We know that we are capable of playing better than we have been doing and we know that we need to begin doing so now.

"I can assure you that every person at the club is doing everything they can to ensure that the season ends on a positive note and when the season is over, we can take stock of what happened.

"Right now, however, there is only one thing that every one of us should be focused on, and that is doing our part whatever that is in helping this team to get the points we need.

"I'm very aware that our supporters, who have backed us week in, week out in such huge numbers, aren't happy and fully understand why.

"But right now, it is important for us all to be on the same side and get behind the team. Not being together will not help us to get results, so let's stand shoulder to shoulder and give the team our full support."

Speechless, I really am. I think Sunderland have made a huge mistake and can only blame themselves, he hasn't done that bad with them and deserved time to rebuild. He could have very well turned things around, if not this season they would have a very good manager to start again. Very easy for them!
