  1. Frank Lampard came off the bench to score winner for England against Brazil

<!--url{0}-->England claimed their first win over Brazil in nearly a quarter of a century as they won 2-1 at Wembley.

On a memorable night, which saw Ashley Cole claimed his 100th cap for his country, England went ahead on 27-minutes through Wayne Rooney.

But this came just moments after Brazil has spurned the chance to take the lead from the penalty spot when Joe Hart brilliantly kept out Ronaldinho's attempt.

Just after the break and substitute Fred flashed home an excellent equaliser and not long after he struck the woodwork as the visitors looked to go ahead.

But it was England who claimed their first win over Brazil in 23-years, and it was another replacement - this time Frank Lampard, who side-footed home clinically from the edge of the box to give Roy Hodgson's side victory.

England looked dangerous early on with Jack Wilshere impressing on his return to the international stage, but he was adjudged to have handled a Ronaldinho cross - which gave the Atletico Miniero man a chance to open the scoring.

However, on his 100th appearance for his country - he saw his shot parried but Hart and the Man City keeper beat him to the rebound and Neymar was unable to convert from close-range.

It was no surprise, though, that the Arsenal player played a major part in the build-up to England's opening goal after 26 minutes from Rooney.

His pass picked out the surge forward of Gunners team-mate Theo Walcott, whose low drive was blocked by QPR keeper Julio Cesar. However, Rooney seized on the rebound and coolly tucked away his 33rd goal for his country with a low drive straight down the middle of the goal.

England attacked with plenty of pace and Walcott made a powerful charge towards the Brazilian box, only to fire over the bar.

But they had a let-off after 37 minutes when the highly-rated Neymar slid in at the far post and shot over from close range after Oscar had outpaced Chelsea team-mate Cole before crossing.

Leighton Baines and Lampard replaced Cole and Cleverley respectively at the start of the second period, whilst Brazil made a hat-trick of substitutions with Fred, Arouca and Lucas replacing Fabiano, Ramires and Ronaldinho.

Gerrard forced Cesar to parry his dipping drive two minutes into the second half but a mistake by Gary Cahill saw Fred equalise 60 seconds later.

The Chelsea defender was caught in possession bringing the ball out from defence and in an instant Fred drilled a fierce shot past Hart from the edge of the box.

The goalscorer almost struck again when his shot rattled the bar after Hart's clearance had bounced off Cahill.

But Cahill almost made amends for his error when he got on the end of a Gerrard corner and saw his header tipped over the bar by Cesar. The keeper then fingertipped away Walcott's ball into the danger area but Gerrard could not keep his follow-up shot down.

England were not to be denied the win over Brazil which they last gained back in 1990 as Lampard restored their lead on the hour. Walcott's centre was only partially cleared and Wilshere turned the ball back to Lampard, whose curling shot hit the inside of a post and crossed the line for his 27th England goal.

I missed this but my mum did call me to tell me that it was on. We ended up going out for a long time today, needed to get some refresh air and a change of scenery. It's good to see that we can win big teams and surely Frank Lampard will now get a contract at Chelski? It hurts to say it but he deserves it. Some of their players show a major lack of ambition sometimes and aren't impacting games like him. A two year contract would be a good call!
  2. Hello everyone

I'm Will and I'm a Shrewsbury Town season ticket holder

I look forward to chatting with some knowledgable County fans

  3. Chris keeps mum on Magpies job

<!--url{0}-->Chris Kiwomya played down his chances of being handed the Notts County job on a permanent basis after a 1-1 draw at Walsall.

Walsall striker Will Grigg converted a 29th-minute penalty after County goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski had fouled Jamie Paterson, but half-time substitute Yoann Arquin fired home a second-half equaliser for the visitors.

Kiwomya, pleased his side had responded after a disappointing first-half display, said: "At half-time I was disappointed even though it was a difficult pitch to play on. I didn't think we really penetrated.

"I emphasised that at half-time and in the second half we were so much better and there was a lot more urgency to our game, with people willing to run and go for the second ball."

Alan Judge spurned two golden scoring chances and Kiwomya said: "He's a top player, but he'll be disappointed that he hasn't hit the target because it changes he whole momentum of the game and I think we would have gone on to win quite easily."

Asked whether he hoped to become the full-time manager, Kiwomya replied: "I will just do the best I can.

"The players responded to me at half-time and if we had had 90 minutes of that I would have been happy. I thought in the second half we looked the team that wanted to win.

"The players were courageous and gave me everything in the second half."
  4. The following are the winners of the raffle Minor Prize:

The Pride of Nottingham (Unofficial NCFC Fan Site) team would like to thank them.

  5. Arquin halts Saddlers' charge

<!--url{0}-->Yoann Arquin earned his side a point from a 1-1 draw at Walsall whose run of five straight home wins was halted by Notts County.

Arquin was on the spot to stab the ball home in the 65th minute when the home defence had failed to clear a cross from the lively Jamal Campbell-Ryce.

It was no more than the Magpies deserved from a much-improved second-half performance and with better finishing they might have won.

Walsall began well on a heavy pitch and in the sixth minute top-scorer Will Grigg forced his way through, but saw his low shot cleared off the goalline by Alan Judge.

Grigg did collect his 11th goal of the season, however, after 29 minutes when County goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski flattened Jamie Paterson in a corner of the box and there was a delay while a flare thrown onto the pitch from the visitors' end was cleared.

Grigg kept his compsure to coolly send the goalkeeper the wrong way and give the Saddlers the lead they deserved.

But managerless County created more chances in the second half and were worth at least a point.
  6. Looking forward to todays game against Walsall.

Caretaker manager Chris Kiwomya is eagar to get his first win under his belt today as the team are improving as the matches progress, so it looks promising. Walsall are on good form so will also play well but Chris Kiwomya believes we can still get through this game with 3 points. Walsall will want to keep their form and progress up the table, but we also want to get back on track to get into the play-offs.

Neal Bishop is back in the game today so the fans will be happier again and the players moral could also be higher.

  7. Oldham force replay with Everton

    Oldham force replay with Everton
Oldham caretaker manager Tony Philliskirk hailed his side's spirit after they earned a money-spinning FA Cup fifth round replay against Everton.

Towering striker Matt Smith was the Latics' hero once again as his header in the fourth minute of stoppage time earned the League One strugglers another crack at their Premier League opponents following the 2-2 draw at Boundary Park.

Having knocked out Liverpool in the previous round, Oldham again had Merseyside opposition reeling when Jordan Obita gave them a 13th-minute lead. Victor Anichebe restored parity midway through the first half before Everton edged ahead when Phil Jagielka heading home Kevin Mirallas' corner.

But Smith, playing his first game from the bench since suffering a shoulder injury during his two-goal display against Liverpool, once again used his physicality to good effect and had the final word to set up another clash at Goodison Park.

And Philliskirk admitted that the financial reward of a replay was a bonus, saying: "From the club's perspective this (the Everton result) is massive.

"Everyone was jumping about around me and I was just smiling to myself.

"I'm under no illusions about what it means to the club financially and at the end of the day that's the most important thing.

"Simon (Corney, chairman), I'm sure that he won't like me saying this, has struggled through over the last few years and he keeps the club afloat. He works ever so hard with the board.

"It's troubled times for everybody, there's no money about. The team haven't done that well this year and attendances have fallen.

"All in all, hopefully it generates a feel-good factor, it'll encourage people to come back but, more than anything, it's what that means to the club - another game, at Goodison, possibly on TV again.

"I was talking to everyone this week and said the dream result was a draw. You'd have to ask the board of directors - I turned round and they were jumping up and down more than anybody else."

Credit to Oldham, they've done very well to get this far and to end up drawing after scoring a late equalizer. I think they'll fancy their chances! great run for them :)
  8. Eden Hazard has apologised to ballboy after Capital One Cup semi-final

<!--url{0}-->Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard has apologised to the ballboy who was the centre of attention after the Capital One Cup semi-final, second leg in Swansea finished goalless.

With time running out, Hazard was sent off after kicking out at the prostrate youth who was lying on top of the ball at the side of the pitch at the Liberty Stadium.

South Wales police questioned the boy and his father after the game but will not take the matter any further.

Hazard told Chelsea TV: "The boy put his whole body onto the ball and I was just trying to kick the ball and I think I kicked the ball and not the boy. I apologise.

"The ballboy came in the changing room and we had a quick chat and I apologised and the boy apologised as well, and it is over. Sorry."

Chelsea boss Rafa Benitez added: "The ballboy knows he was wasting time. We are disappointed to lose the player but we cannot change things. They both recognise there was a mistake.

"The boy was apologising for time wasting. Hazard was frustrated and tried to get the ball. He was kicking the ball and getting the ball.

"We can analyse it for half an hour but we know that both are wrong."

A Swansea spokesman said: "The police have interviewed the boy and his father and there are no charges going to be pressed, as far as they are concerned that is the matter closed.

"The ballboy has been into the Chelsea dressing room after the game and shaken hands with Eden Hazard. The likes of John Terry and Frank Lampard were exemplary in their behaviour in welcoming him into the dressing room.

"Chelsea asked if he could come in and our kit lady took him in and they shook hands, he is fine.

"As far as we are concerned the matter is closed. He has been a ballboy here for six years with no incidents here at the stadium."
  9. I'm sat in my living room watching Oldham 3 - 1 up over Liverpool. How would Notts fans feel had Mansfield made this round instead of Liverpool, it would of been quite something for Oldham having featured themselves against 3 teams within your neck of the woods. Liverpool have just scored, iffy call if you ask me. Smith is down but a deflected shot goal goes in. Still chance for them to come back into the game. What a cracking round!!

  10. Just finished watching Celtic v  Juventus while listening to Hull v Rams on the radio.I enjoyed the match on tv.I thought Juve were deserved winners after getting the early first goal although things may have turned out differently had Celtic managed to score before Juve got their second.Overall I felt Juventus still had more 'left in the tank' and were playing well within themselves but had they not scored so early or if Celtic had equalised early it could have affected the way both teams played and possibly the result.

  11. Rushcliffe Rovers new owners have now sacked FD John Pelling, Ops Man. Brandon Furse, Media Man. Fraser Hinds
    and Academy Dir Nick Marshall.

Between then they have 58yrs combined service to club.

What the hell is going on over there? I didn't think you could just sack people like that in this day and age, don't they need grounds to get rid of them, don't they have to go through procedures, verbal warnings, written warnings, etc. etc.,

I would imagine that the morale in the the club is at absolutely rock bottom at the moment.

  12. I noticed yesterday after watching some videos on youtube that AMC released a trailer for the upcoming season. It looks very interesting and I loved the first season, so I really hope that they don't ruin things by being crazy but I would also like to see them adapt away from the comic book a little. Nothing wrong with staying true to the roots, main idea of the show but I think they could spice things up a little more. I know certain parts of the last season was different to what happened in the comics but it mostly the same which for me being someone who's a huge fan of the comic book, I felt like nothing much happened away from it. Amazing job bringing the characters to life + all the make up, story telling and placing the core emotion of fear (a lot like a big budget movie) but lacking in ideas away from the storyboard that was the comic.

Anyway here's the trailer for those who would like to see it.

    I can't wait!!! Roll on TWD :D

Jake with our captain Neal Bishop. (someone was very happy about this)

    Somebody was actually excited here!

I swear I didn't put Jake up to using the having the PoN banner (but works nicely for us) and he wanted to have it upside down for some reason. I blame Jurgen or was it Anthony who started this Notts trend?
  14. Bishop will have served his ban for the next match I presume, so would you put him straight back in the team? They haven't actually set the world on fire while he has been absent so I for one would put him back in and drop McMahon.

Mind you Bish is one of my favourites, I'm going to have a signed photograph on my wall soon, courtesy of this great site. :D

  15. I heard that we had a practice match with Peterborough and lost 5-0 :(

Anyone got any details, any gossip on trialists etc?

  16. Here are the latest odds on our permanent manager, who would you like out of this list and who would you definitely not want.

I would like: Steve Cotterill, second choice Phil Brown

I would definitely not like: Steve Evans

Steve Cotterill did a brilliant job before and I believe he could do so again.

When Rotherham played Notts recently I sat behind the dugout and I thought that Steve Evans and his assistant were the most obnoxious individuals I have ever seen in our away dugout. So no thank you to him.

Anyway pick your choice from below:

    Chris Kiwomya 4/6
    Steve Evans 11/4
    Gary McAllister  8/1
    Gary Johnson 12/1
    Gary Megson 16/1
    Nigel Worthington 16/1
    Derek Mcinnes 20/1
    Simon Grayson 20/1
    Steve Cotterill 20/1
    Gary Mills 20/1
    Peter Reid 20/1
    Peter Taylor 20/1
    Nick Barmby 20/1
    Alan Knill 20/1
    John Coleman 22/1
    Phil Brown 22/1
    Micky Mellon 25/1
    Paolo Di Canio 25/1
    George Burley 25/1
    Craig Short 28/1
    Lee Clark 28/1
    Chris Wilder 28/1
    Dennis Wise 33/1
    Andy Scott 33/1
    Kevin Blackwell 33/1
    Owen Coyle 33/1
    Bryan Robson 33/1
    Gary Waddock 33/1
    Alan Irvine 33/1
    Paul Ince 40/1
    Paul Dickov 40/1
    Alex Rae 40/1
    Mark Yates 40/1

  17. What's the truth with the reports. If Notts are up to date with all payments why the need for a court order.Something funny(not laughing)here.

  18. Curle, who took over at Meadow Lane in February of last year, was informed of the decision by Chairman Ray Trew on Sunday afternoon, in the wake of Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Hartlepool United.

Notts have won just two of their last 11 games in all competitions, a run that has seen them drop to 10th in the npower League 1 table, five points off the play-off places and Mr Trew felt that a change had to be made, with Curle and first team coaches Colin Lee and Colin West relieved of their duties.

“This obviously is not a decision that we have taken lightly and certainly not one that I have taken any pleasure in reaching, I have a tremendous amount of respect for Keith Curle both as a man and a manager,†explained the Notts Chairman.

“Since Keith first came in, just under a year ago, we, as a Board, have backed him to bring in the players that he believed could move Notts County on to the next level and felt that he assembled a squad capable of challenging for promotion this season.

“However, recent displays have unfortunately not lived up to expectations and our poor disciplinary record this season has only further hampered our progress,†he added.

“Attendances at Meadow Lane have dropped in recent weeks and this has made this a business decision as much as a footballing one, because fans are obviously key to the club and their support is essential.

“I would like to thank Keith, as well as Colin Lee and Colin West for all of their hard work and effort over the past year, there have been plenty of highs to enjoy in that period but there comes a time when we, as a Board, have to consider what we feel is best for the future of the club.â€

Any new name for the manager?
  19. Well a lot has happened while I have been away, Curle sacked, over the river McLeish walked, Notts in the High Court, we've lost a game and drawn a game and signed a new striker. I also noticed that I didn't get enough votes to win the main prize booo!!! All that canvassing and kissing babies was to no avail. Ha Ha.

    Now where to start.

Disappointed that Curle was sacked, I thought we were going in the right direction and felt a bit sorry for him. I don't want to criticise Ray but I do think he has jumped the gun, what happened to the stability he was talking about creating!

I'm not surprised agent McLeish walked, what a shambles they are in over the river.

The new striker sounds half decent, at least he scored, lets hope he carries on doing the business.

Anyway off to peruse the rest of the forum, see you around.

  20. Notts County: Alan Judge 'sick' of manager sackings

<!--url{0}--> Notts County midfielder Alan Judge says he is fed up with the constant turnover of managers at the club following Keith Curle's sacking earlier this month.

"I am just sick of it now," Judge told BBC Radio Nottingham. "I have only been here two and a half seasons and that is my sixth manager.

"I don't know what is happening to the stability they want to have. They have to stick with it.

"Eventually they have to stick with the manager. They cannot keep doing it."

Curle was in charge for less than a year and left Meadow Lane with the Magpies 10th in League One and five points from a play-off position.

First-team coaches Colin Lee and Colin West also left the club and Chris Kiwomya is now in caretaker charge.

Chairman Ray Trew said a combination of poor performances and falling attendances were behind the decision to change manager.

But captain Neal Bishop told BBC Radio Nottingham he backed Judge in the call for stability.

"In three and a half years I have seen off 10 managers," Bishop said.

"We were in an indifferent run of form but overall we felt we were on the right track. The players are all disappointed.

"We could see we had had the right man in charge. Some people had said the manager was too close to the players but that's a load of rubbish; he was hard but fair.

"I have seen Judgey's comments and I fully support him. But we are professionals and we have to get on with on it."

Judge, who is out of contract in the summer and seems likely to leave, said the club is crying out for stability.

"I know some of the fans weren't happy," Judge said.

"It's maybe 20 or 30 fans who have complained and they have got their wish and got the manager sacked and that shouldn't be happening.

"I don't think they understood the great work he was doing behind the scenes here and how he put the staff together and things like that.

"He was doing great work and, as Colin Lee said, we were three quarters of the way through. We just needed a couple of new strikers. I think we jumped the gun."

Lee told BBC Radio Nottingham the sacking came as a huge surprise as the management team were convinced they were doing a good job.

He said: "We were trying to implement a style of play which I think we have achieved and when you look at the stats, in 49 league games we have only lost 11 games and that stat stands up to anything.

"We felt we were three quarters of a way through a job. I think we were two or three players away from being a really good team.

"We tried to cover those positions. It was blatantly obvious to everyone that the strikeforce was not good enough and we knew that.

"We knew what we wanted but they were the final pieces of the jigsaw and unfortunately we won't get the opportunity to put them in. That's the disappointing thing.

"Not being able to complete the job is a big disappointment. It's such a shame that we cannot see it through."

I wonder how much truth there is in the article, the blame lies on everybody not just the board.

  21. Happy birthday to Harry(Harry's Mummy/William 1984),3 today. You were a very excited little boy opening your presents this morning.

  22. You have signed a very a talented young lad from us on loan.

He's got good control, he can plays on the wings which he has for our youth/reserve team. He'll out run most players with his pace, so fingers crossed he'll be a good addition to your squad. I can't find anywhere confirming this yet :)

  23. What on earth is happening with the club!

I have been a fan since my husband introduced me to NCFC nearly 8 years ago, and it has been one hell of a roller coaster   There have seemed to be more downs than ups too, I must add.  Then I just read the official club statement about our chairman being in court tomorrow regarding the winding up petition. Personally I must have forgotten about this, as I would have thought this would have been commented on during December when this was issued. But it seems Notts have ALL the bad luck.

Whether it is with managers, munto, players on and off the pitch antics, issues with staff at the ground on match days (a personal issue we had many times regarding my little boy and whether or not he was allowed in) ... I do love Notts but I am finding that this love is really being strained of late. I hope all goes well with Mr Trew etc, as this club really needs something positive off the pitch too.

The bickering between fans, people at the club etc lately has been awful. I personally have not been able to afford to go the matches for a few years now. This isn't because I don't wish too, but purely a financial issue, and for people to then claim that myself (and other fan's who cannot get to matches) do not have as much right to comment on the club is despicable  Fortunately this does not happen on this site as we all support each other.  However I have been seeing this on other sites, as well as comments made in the press!

Anyway, sorry for the rant but this has really been bugging me lately

  24. Five years ago this week, the Premier League put forward plans to create a new round of fixtures to be played overseas. The idea was discarded fairly quickly, amid national and international condemnation, but since then there have been several developments in European football which have seen the Italian and Spanish Supercups exported overseas. This article looks at whether the English game could follow in their footsteps. Please have a look and comment!
