Alan Johnson Won't Run For Labour Leader
The former Home Secretary says he will not challenge Ed Miliband, who insists there is no crisis over his leadership.

Alan Johnson says he won't fight for the Labour leadership
Labour MP Alan Johnson has ruled himself out of any bid for the leadership of the Labour Party.
The former Home Secretary used a column in The Guardian to explain why he would not challenge under-fire Ed Miliband.
"I have never stood for the leadership of my party - and for the avoidance of doubt, regardless of the circumstances, I never will," he wrote.
"Ed Miliband is entitled to expect our loyalty.
"I believe that he is the only party leader who can promise real and lasting change, rather than a return to business as usual. He is the only political leader who can stop a retreat from the consensus of decency that has traditionally characterised Britain’s role in the world."
Oh Dear. Not sure Ed is up to the job. In fact I don't think I ever was. Another stint for David C then...
The young 'Pies went out of the FA Youth Cup at the first round away at London Road 2-0.
Due to injury and illness Notts were without four second year scholars so the team had a young and lightweight look to it with four first year scholars in the team and two players brought in from the under-16 team.
The usual team captain, Jordan Richards was strangely replaced by a youngster from the under-16 team - named Jordan Richards!
Colby Bishop took on the role of captain for this game.
Posh took the lead after only five minutes and looked like they might score a few more as they dominated the first half. Since Paul Hart joined Notts have favoured a diamond formation in midfield with Colby at the front point but means he is sitting deeper than when in his more traditional 'centre-forward' role.
The second half saw an improved Notts performance culminating in a 25 yard shot from Jordan Richards which crashed against the top of the post. But Posh weren't to be denied and an even better shot from 30 yards by substitute Da-Silva-Lopes deserved to win the game.
Harry Anderson, the Posh right-back was clearly the Man of the Match with an outstanding display including numerous surging runs and clever close control.
I saw this has been discussed on PoN facebook page but for those of us who don't frequent facebook. What did you think of the booing at the end of Accrington game?
Do you think booing the team off is justified in view of the performance.
Or do you think you should clap and support the team no matter what.
Personally I did neither, I would never boo (except the referee) either during or after a match but neither did I think that the performance warranted by applause. For those who went did you boo or applaud at the end and why? For those who didn't go would you have booed or would you have applauded or neither?

Seeing as this site is getting much more popular, I was wondering if any of you would be interested in a friendly 5-a-side game of football once a fortnight/month. Gives a chance to play football... and, maybe talk football at the pub afterwards ![]()
Although, judging by all your ages, I'd understand if you wasn't up for it - "Reverse Pyschology"

Notts Ladies Jess Clarke Nomination
Notts County Ladies forward Jess Clarke admits it came as a shock to her to discover she had been nominated for the FA Women’s Players’ Player of the Year award. The 25-year-old, who has been called up to the England squad for the friendly with Germany on November 23, finished the season with 15 goals in all competitions and has been shortlisted for the prestigious accolade that will be presented in London on Friday.
Madame Tussauds is the venue for the glittering ceremony and Clarke is proud to be shortlisted for the top award alongside Birmingham’s Karen Carney and Chelsea’s Ji So Yun.
“I put in a lot of hard work at the start of the season and I was scoring goals,†Clarke told Sky Sports News HQ. “I was a threat up front but I never thought I would be nominated for the Players’ Player of the Year award.
Delighted
“I’m absolutely delighted, it’s amazing to be honest. It took me completely by surprise but at the same time it’s nice to be recognised by your fellow players.
“The league’s really competitive at the minute and there are a number of players who have had really solid seasons and to be recognized in that company is a massive compliment.
“It’s not by chance that those players have also been nominated and I think they are both worthy candidates and whoever wins on the night will probably be deserving of the trophy.â€
A serious knee injury to team-mate Ellen White gave Clarke, who has spent much of her career playing out wide, the chance to operate as the focal point of County’s attack last season.
Character
Clarke is confident England striker White will be back to her best soon and will add quality to County’s squad next term.
“Ellen’s a tough character and I know she will come back from her injury very strong,†Clarke said.
“Her injury was disappointing for everyone. We were working a lot with each other during pre-season and working very effectively with one another.
“It will be massive when we get Ellen back. It will really push our squad on and make us stronger.â€

As MAD seems to be going towards a £2 per month subscription for ad-free viewing, we might have an influx of members in the next few weeks. I don't expect many to seriously pay to view MAD, but the other side of the coin is the mods on here need to keep tight control as I would really hate to see the debates we have here descend into intolerance and disrespect like they do on there.

So, it's the first round of the F.A Cup and for once we're the home team!
I have no idea whatsoever about Stanley, I really don't know much about them but I do expect a good game. One which I would be disappointed in seeing us lose, we need a solid performance and our fans to really impact the game. If we play like we can, I see no reason why we couldn't score a couple.
No disrespect to our opposition but any League Two team should be ours for the taking.
That said I am sure we all remember what happened when we met Rotherham at Meadow Lane a few seasons back, well before they gain promotion. I bet you do @BradtheMiller ![]()

I thought this might be an interesting thread but I quite understand if people don't want to join in.
How old are you? I was just curious as to the age range of our members.
I'll start, I was born in 1952 if my maths are right that makes me 62 (I've stopped counting). I started watching Notts in the early 60s.

Should he move to Chelsea, sign with Villa or perhaps track a move to somewhere else?
I personally hope that he doesn't sign for Chelsea, I think he would break into the team if he did. Yet I think it would take some time, whereas he's on the verge with Villa. If he did sign for Chelsea, I honestly see them getting rid of him after a few years no matter how good he performs, they have a tendency to always want some "new star" and the left midfield position as never been a good area for British/Irish people.
I'd stay with Villa, unless a team like Stoke, Hull came in for him.
Thoughts?

What are peoples thoughts on the recent resurgence of AQ under their new Caliphate?
Middle Eastern politics has always been a big interest of mine and the current situation is no surprise.
What is more of a surprise to me is the way the Western media is portraying this as an 'abduct and behead westerners group.'
They have been pushing the hard line Sunni idea for a while now. Shia have been killed in their thousands and nobody blinked an eyelid over here or he US.
Suddenly a few Westerners are abducted and dealt with in the same way and it is major news.
Don't misinterpret me here.
Their actions are vile and wrong. Indiscriminate and targetted killings are not acceptable in any society, but surely the Western Governments need to restrict travel for their citizens to countries like these until the home troops of the Middle East can be trained to deal with the pressure.

I know Nottingham is mainly Forest fans, but are there any areas where you would expect to find more Notts County fans? Moved from Nottingham to London at the age of 2 so never really knew much about the Nottingham derby. I assume it's less tribal in Nottingham than London because the stadiums are very close so less likely to be a north/south divide.
Would be grateful for any info thanks ![]()

It's a hard question to ask, however that doesn't put me off. No doubt the players tried, it just wasn't there and some will no doubt stand out for this reason because they kept at it.
