With only 5 games remaining and 5 points clear of the premiership relegation zone, Chris Hughton has been sacked and replaced by Adams, a youth team coach.
Surely this is either inspired or purely stupid. I think stupid, but in this situation I suppose the pull of money was weighing heavily on the boards minds. we'll never know what would have happened, just what Adams does or doesn't do.
Hi,
I'm the pre-match reporter for the Port Vale Fans Forum One Vale Fan.
Part of my role is to contact fans of our forthcoming opponents to ask them a few questions and gain their views on the upcoming fixture between our sides in order to produce a report which we release on the site a couple of days prior to the game.
I wondered if you have a few minutes and would be prepared to share a few views if you would kindly offer your feelings on the game by answering the following few questions;
1. Tell us a bit about yourself & history as a fan?
2. How are your team doing (current form and in relation to the expectation of fans at the start of the season)?
3. Who should we watch out for (one or more danger player/s)?
4. What are your thoughts on your manager?
5. What are your thoughts on your board & off field club activities?
6. Any views on Port Vale & specific players?
7. Any views & memories of players / managers that have been involved with both teams (Luke Rodgers, Lee Ashcroft, Brett Angell)?
8. A score prediction (and potential scorers for both sides)?
Please also feel free to include any other information you feel worthy and I will knock it into a report as per the example below regarding contribution from Plymouth fans from our game with them;
http://www.onevalefan.co.uk/site/opposing-views-plymouth/
To enable me to produce this in good time I need a reply by Tuesday 8th April and the report should appear on the website a day or two before our fixture.
Please also let me know if you would like me to include your name on the article.
Many thanks for your potential support in this matter.
Best Regards,
REP

I've sorted out the days off, shuffled the work rotas etc so that I can pull in at least 2 of the last 5 games.
I'm getting over on Friday (supposedly to fit my Mums new PC for her but surreptitiously to get to Meadow lane on the Saturday for the Port Vale match) My wife and kids are coming , no surprise there, but what was the surprise was our Adam asked if he could come to the match with me!!
Then all being well I can get up to Oldham for the last match !!

seeming as there is a current thread on MAD comparing the two sites, i thought I'd let people offer their opinions here as to which they really prefer and why.
http://boards.footymad.net/forum.php?tno=402&fid=17&sty=2&act=1&mid=2111348488
TBH though I think if we spend all day comparing two totally different sites then the reason for the sites in the first place is being lost!
I know I prefer here to MAD due to the fact that people are ...well...normal (well most of you anyway!)

There was a chemical leak, supporters overcame with symptoms and 3 were unconscious. 3 tenders and a chemical leak wagon, ambulance's, Police car.
I'll come clean, we had a training night, and that was the scenario we had to deal with. Lasted about 2 and a half hours.
It was a good exercise for all parties involved.

An invitation and/or a warning!
Thomas and I should be on tonight, we were at the recording this afternoon. Nothing profound to stay up for though. However, I recommend going if you get the chance to be in the audience.

Strange how you find things out.....I was,as usual; paying one of my intermitent visits to The Mad site, when I noticed a comment about PoN and the old farts who frequent it.........as an old fart [born 1930] I thought 'Why not have a look?'
I liked what I saw and here I am......doesn't mean I will give up Mad,but perhaps not visiting quite as often.
I came to Nottingham in 1967 {For about 6 months...I thought ....while sorting myself out after a broken marriage.......I must have liked the place....I'm still here.}
My first football match here was Forest/Liverpool........I was taken there by a lad from the'pool.......one of my ex work friends......I found to my digust a sea of RED shirts .....[i grew up within the ROAR of the Man.City crowd in my ears on match days and a natural hatred of red football shirts.]....I still follow the pale Blues progress.......my son is a Rabid City fan and lives quite close totheir new ground.
I hope to live long enough to see The 'Pies in the Championship.......but things will have to change radically and rapidly at the 'Lane' if I am to fulfil my ambition.
"COME ON U 'PIES>>>>>>>GET YOUR FINGERS OUT.".......Please !.....I'm running out of time.

In honour of our newest member I think we should adopt the Cronulla Sharks as our Australian counterparts. Spent a little time reading up on them this morning and they have an interesting history.

Go Sharks. they seem to be good, but not quite at the top of the tree just yet. They also need to put a few things behind them asap such as the recent doping scandal!

Hey all,
I'd never heard of your team or side until last month. Australia is a bloody long way away, you know, and well let's face it, we've only been taking notice of the cricket lately here in the colonies.
Then last month a bloke called Damian Irvine took up a job with your - now OUR - club. He saved my footy club over here. Keen to follow the happenings of the Magpies now he's on board.

Barcelona transfer ban: Fifa issues 14-month sanction
Spanish champions Barcelona have been given a 14-month transfer ban by Fifa for breaking rules on signing international players under 18.
The Catalan club cannot buy or sell players until the summer of 2015 after the world governing body imposed a transfer ban for the next two windows.
They have also been fined 450,000 Swiss Francs (£305,000).
"This is a shattering piece of news for a club that had already endured a very difficult season off the pitch following allegations of tax evasion around the signing of Neymar.
"That saga led to the resignation of controversial club president Sandro Rosell in January. Now his replacement, Josep Maria Bartomeu, can expect overwhelming pressure from fans to call new presidential elections as soon as possible.
"The impact upon the team is also hugely significant. With veteran captain Carles Puyol and goalkeeper Victor Valdes leaving at the end of the season, the club had already announced their intention to splash out on top-class replacements. Now that seems impossible, which means the squad will be severely weakened next season.
"It is also yet another massive blow to Barca's previously much-respected global brand, which has taken a huge battering in the last few months and will be further tarnished by this latest development."
The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has been sanctioned by Fifa for the same breaches.
Barcelona are hoping to sign a new goalkeeper at the end of the season, with the long-serving Victor Valdes leaving the Nou Camp at the end of his contract.
The four-time European champions have been linked with Borussia Monchengladbach keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, while they agreed a deal to sign17-year-old Croatia midfielder Alen Halilovic last week.
The RFEF has been given a fine of 500,000 Swiss Francs (£340,000) and told to "regularise its regulatory framework and existing system concerning the international transfer of minors in football" within a year.
Fifa rules state that international transfers are only permitted for players over the age of 18 - unless the player in question meets one of three qualifying criteria.
Under-18s can move to a club in a different country if their parents move there for non-footballing reasons, if they are from another nation within the European Union or European Economic Area and aged between 16 and 18, or if they live within 100km of the club.
A Fifa investigation - centred on several players aged under 18 who were registered and played for the club between 2009 and 2013 - found that Barcelona and the RFEF were guilty of a "serious" infringement of the rules in relation to 10 players.
Fifa told BBC Sport the identity of these players was confidential.
Its disciplinary committee said it sought to protect the best interests of young players, even if an international transfer might be beneficial to their football careers.
"On the basis of this analysis, the committee concluded that 'the interest in protecting the appropriate and healthy development of a minor as a whole must prevail over purely sporting interests'," said a Fifa statement.
It is the latest off-the-field issue to trouble Barcelona this season.
Earlier this year, the Catalan club wereaccused by the Spanish authorities of tax evasion relating to the £50m purchase of Brazil forward Neymar. A criminal investigation is under way, despite Barca making a "voluntary contribution" of more than £11m in taxes.
The club's president Sandro Rosell resignedafter he was accused of misappropriating funds in the deal.
Rosell and his successor Josep Maria Bartomeu insist the 22-time Spanish champions have not acted illegally.
