Mrs. T. has sent an email to the Notts County Mailing list. I won't copy and paste it as it is against their rules and I respect that but the gist of it is to say that a frenzy has been whipped up over people who haven't even applied for the job and about offers that haven't been made and rejections that haven't happened, she says the shortlists only exist in the minds of the media and the club are being judged on these things.

Β

She goes on to say that her mum who but a few weeks ago was fit and well is in a hospice with cancer and by the sounds of it the outlook is bleak and that people need to take stock and give her and the family a bit of support.

Β

I have to say I feel really sorry for her and the family who are having to deal with this awful family tradegy and run a football club and find a new manager at the same time.

Β

There are certainly more important things in this life than the next Notts County manager, my heart goes out to Mrs. T and her family.

This is not easy to do, it might appear so but even in the earliest days - 3+ candidates always stood out. We decided that this month would see if we could attract votes from the community, I have to be honest I was nervous about not getting enough votes or it failing. I'm delighted with how it was received, it shown me a glimpse of what this place can be and what I aim for it to be.

Next month I hope you all will join me in nominating the candidates - We will then vote for the the popular 6 (as we did this month).

You can name up to 3 members - Then myself and cheeky will create a poll for you to vote. Whoever get's mentioned the most will be in the voting stage.

Please take a moment to congratulate PTID1862 - He's been a big boost to our community, as each and everyone who gets involved does but I felt there's been a great amount of care/quality with PTID and he almost received this without voting (as this was recent idea I wanted to try next month).

Thank you to each and every memeber! - especially you PTID! Congrats and please keep up your great attitude around here.

You Pies!

The other night I was curious with regards to how many players we had out of contract, this basically came about after I read a Nottingham Post online article. Gary Liddle stated he focusing his 'playing' and Notts's futures more important than his own, I have to admit I felt this was another Alan Judge situation.

At the end of the year the following players will be out of contract;

Alan Sheehan
Gary Liddle
Manny Smith
Joss Labadie* (Was supposedly offered a contract - No news since)
Yoann Arquin* (Appears to have a rolling 1 year deal)
Enoch Showunmi* (Reportedly set to expire)
Bartosz BiaΓ…β€škowski
Dean Leacock
Jamal Campbell-Ryce
Andre Boucaud* (Signed one-and-a-half-year contract back of last season)

I'm quite old fashioned, I think this alarming and perhaps a contributing factor to their performances. I am not making excuses but this is the majority of our senior players, so might be longer and others might not even be listed. However a contract offers stability to a player who's deserving one and I would hope we are not avoiding offering to keep costs down.

Thoughts?

Hi @Malcsmith

Β

You are assured of a warm welcome from our friendly gang.

Hi Padrinouk

Welcome to our friendly community, look forward to chatting.

Okay, so I was once asked what PoN started out as in terms of design. Sadly it was believed that we had lost all screenshots, however recently we have had to call upon our camcorder. Looking on the SD card, we've found some pictures that @super_pie took with the camcorder when he was only around 2 have survived.

I really don't class the site being 'opened' however, before last Christmas it was a case of me developing and testing the waters.

I've attached the images below, I couldn't resist the brackets of the title of this thread. I'm actually very pleased that the earlier days have survived and it shows how far the sites come.

It brings back some pretty exciting memories for me, as I spent far to long developing the site - Just required a jump and putting things together.

This week's fixtures:

Β

Huddersfield Town v Burnley

Watford v Yeovil Town

Peterborough United v Wolves

Walsall v Port Vale

Dagenham & Redbridge v Wycombe Wanderers

Northampton Town v Accrington Stanley

It's all been go today at Notts they have signed two highly rated youngsters from Charlton on loan.

Β

Both are under 21's internationals.

Β

Andy Haworth has gone out on loan to Tamworth.

Notts have signed Callum Ball 6' 3" striker on loan from Derby.

Β

Perhaps @super_ram can give us the low down on him when he gets his internet back up and running.

...then you'll be sad to learn of the passing of my father, George "Tony" Priestley who died after a long and brave battle against cancerΒ on the morning of the 22nd, (Friday).

Β

Loving the club in full, he was involved in the committee, starting gate, meadow club, as well as a staunch main stander right up until the Warnock era, when family and business commitments overtook him!Β  Others may know him as Tony the Fagman, having involvement in the licensed trade all over the midlands.

Β

I was only a youngster in those very different days, but do remember the aftermatch bar; and enjoying the company of all the greats from our team - what an era!Β Β  He was at the gala performance of Steak Diana Ross last year and know he certainly enjoyed seeing and socialising with all the faces after all of this time.

Β

I recognise that times, the club - and indeed football - is very different nowadays.Β  Some or none on here may know him and this is not a post to be morbid nor sad, merely to let people know of his passing.Β  I write out of respect for him as he was well known at the club in "that" era, and I also wanted to inform anyone that knew / knew of him.

Β

Full details will be in the evening post in due course.

Β

Thank you for reading.

:)

HAPPY (belated) BIRTHDAY @PTID1862

Β

We missed your birthday yesterday but I hope you had a great day, it's a pity Notts couldn't have given you a win on your birthday weekend.

Β

So what did you get up to? Anything nice that you can share?

Β

:birthday:

Ok, so this evenings 19.45 kick off sees the Magpies away at the massive Bradford City.

Β

The league table suggests a home win is the most likely outcome, with Bradford currently occupying 6th spot and looking to pull away from the chasing pack. On the flip side Notts are languishing at the bottom of the pile 7 points off 20th spot.

Β

Can Notts get anything from the game? well recent performances have vastly improved and it is going to happen somewhere, so why not?

Β

Significant results I can remember between the two:

Β

Play off Misery - losing out to the massive at the old Wembley Stadium.

That opening day 5 - 0 hammering.

Β

I personally cannot see anything other than a miserable trip back down the M1 empty handed, but, just but, its a funny old game...

Β

PTID's prediction: Bradford 3 Notts 1

Β

I've been wrong plenty of times before.... COYP

Radio Nottingham are reporting that Notts are being linked to a 19 year old Canadian winger currently with QPR.

Didn't catch his name, Mike something I think.

Where do I begin? I really don't know.

So, 17th take on 24th in League One. No disregard to the Shrews but this is a game that would annoy me to lose, they're a beatable side and even in our current situation we should be able to take the game to them. I don't see them being an 'easy' touch, more a side lacking the quality they've usually been used to surviving with in this league.

That said, if our players don't turn up they have more than enough players able to punish us.

1-0 win for Notts.

Thoughts?

Welcome to the community @pie_in_shanghai, hope you like what you see. :waving:

The media have been doing my head in with regards to this game, I really don't care if they slaughter us. I prefer to think positive and tradition says it'll be an eventful game. I hope Roy, see's this more as an exhibition game and continues trying some of our youngsters. I know he named the squad well before the game, I am sure the Germans are comfortable within their own thoughts.

Just go out and try, thoughts?

Ps, My prediction 3-1 Germany.

Where do we go from here?

Losing week in week out, unable to buy a point at the moment, defeat against bad sides and good sides.

All of this with improved performances. I think we've established what is wrong. We have a weak spine, bar Bart.Β

So the question is, what is to be done from here? As far as I'm concerned, we have 2 options,Β

1. Try and get rid of any dead wood we can in January and bring in some players to try and secure a position outside the relegation zone.

Pros:

- We stay in League One

- We get rid of underperforming players
- We get better players in

Cons:

- We could end up going down anyway
- Cost
- Players available might not be good enough

2. Keep what we have, try and do what we can, and if worse comes to worse, re-group and re-build for next season in L2.

Pros:
Β

- Less spend
- Youngsters get a chance
- Derry gets experience
- We can get rid of dead-wood at the end of the season

Cons:
Β

- We are back in L2, it took a financial fiasco (Munto) to get us out last time
- This season is depressing, crowds will inevitably fall.
- Some of the dead wood might want to hang on to their wages in L2.

Thoughts?

Β

Back to normal with the two fixtures from each league this week.

Β

This week's fixtures:
Ipswich Town v Leicester City

Leeds United v Middlesbrough

Milton Keynes Dons v Bradford City

Wolves v Brentford

Cheltenham Town v Newport County

Oxford United v Morecambe

Β

Good luck everyone :)

Β

Rumour on twitter that Notts are about to sign George Moncur from West Ham, a ball playing hard tackling central midfielder.

Β

Sounds good.
