I am curious what people think, if Notts needs to sign one or more to cover? We are yet to see what Ollie Tipton brings to the team, and Richard Brindley has done superbly in the middle of the three CB's.

However, we may need cover in this area and with Geraldo Bajrami's injury, I could see Tipton playing in the DM/CB role when needed.

Despite the feeling of needing a CB who is tall and can play the ball out. I have a feeling we won't bring anyone in, and I am fine with that. As we can review the situation in January. Thoughts?

luke williams has said that we do, but its probably something the board are handling. i cant see them bringing just anyone in, they will want someone that offers something different and at this stage that could be difficult to find.

i really hope we do look for someone, but i have faith in what we have.

Bajrami's injury is a hurdle, no doubt. But, this hurdle may become a stepping stone for another player. We must look at our internal resources before making a hasty transfer decision. Sometimes, solutions exist within our current framework.

I am hopeful that Notts will indeed sign another defender. We need to be cautious about the potential consequences if we encounter injuries in this position. While the young defender could provide backup, I don't believe he's fully prepared to take on more than just a covering role. Although I wish we could gradually integrate him, I can foresee him becoming a target for some of our less thoughtful fans. This could seriously damage his confidence.

Bajrami's injury undoubtedly creates a gap, but Brindley has done well showcasing his adaptability and strength. In times of adversity like these, our existing team could harness their unfettered resilience to turn the tide.

Nevertheless, the thought of an additional specialist centre-back is appealing for maintaining a balanced defence. The caveat being, rushing for a signing might not be the best course of action. Thus, availing what we presently have and reevaluating in the winter seems a more pragmatic approach. I trust the recruitment policy and board to make the correct call.

I’d actually be surprised if we didn’t sign anyone. But because we’ve added Tipton (and given Brinds promising start at CB) I think we’re more likely to sign a defensive midfielder, probably someone who can fill-in in defence if needed. I say this because I think that’s what Bajrami’s role would’ve been this season. He played most of pre-season in midfield and there again vs Lincoln. To me that suggests it was more likely he’d play in midfield this season.

Problem is though trying to find a hybrid player, and a good one, like Bajrami isn't easy.

While Bajrami's absence might cause some jitters, it's important to remember that every cloud has a silver lining. Tipton may very well seize this moment to prove his worth. Although another addition to the team wouldn't hurt, it's crucial to find the right fit, rather than merely filling in the number.

I would like another quicker natural centre-back to come in. I know we have options, but I think it would be a significant improvement. Whether or not I think it’s likely to happen is a different thing. I think Luke Williams may ask the board to hold off.

I'm puzzled as to what the Tipton loan is about, he doesn't make the squad.

As for Baj, it's a bad injury to have because he covered that defensive midfield option and a ball playing centre back.

It’s an interesting thought, what with John Bostock and Jim O’Brien. I wonder if Luke Williams plans to bring in Tobi Adebayo-Rowling to cover. Personally, I would say that the squad has cover, and if there are no worries about the centre-backs, then Ollie Tipton should be given time before we bring in someone else. Williams has said that he can play both positions, so we might not need to rush out. The transfer deadline closing may present a problem, but I would imagine an emergency loan may be an option.

While a tall centre-back could be beneficial, we do have sufficient depth in our squad. I don’t foresee Luke Williams bringing in any new players. Ollie Tipton might see more action in defence, but he also has the capability to provide support in the roles of Jim O’Brien and John Bostock.
