This season, the MAGnets topic is returning, but this time, the focus will only be on away games and cup matches where the possibility of playing the same team again this season is unlikely.

This Saturday, Notts will travel to the County Ground to play Swindon Town.

I will start with Colin Calderwood. A defender who began his career with Mansfield, then moved to Swindon Town in 1985. He became a regular Premier League centre-back before moving to our neighbours across the river [Forest]. He came on loan to Notts in the same season, 2001, making five appearances.

Let's stick to naming one at a time for now, please. So, we can see how many members can contribute to this. :)

Here is the match discussion too.

Please feel free to join in and don't forget to share your thoughts on the match.

Stephen Darby played for Swindon Town on loan in 2010 and came to Notts for a season in 2011.

My suggestion is Mark Yates. He played for Notts in 2017, but a decade earlier, he was at Swindon Town in 2004 on loan from Tottenham Hotspur. I thought he was a decent player for us, in a very limited squad. However, I was surprised to see him end up at Eastleigh and later AFC Fylde.

I am nominating a player who has impressed in Greece for Panseeraikos. He also spent a brief time in Turkey and Scotland, I personally didn't think he would play at a very high level. I didn't think much of him, but he would come to haunt Notts when he played for Swindon Town in 2017.

The player in question is Kaiyne Woolery.

He was at Notts in 2015, barely did anything for us. I didn't see much in his ability but to be fair, he did reasonably okay after.

My choice is Brian Killer Kilcline

He played for Notts of course then later in his career he made 17 appearances for Swindon in season 1994/95.

Drissa Traoré played for Notts in 2014-15, before signing for Swindon Town when his time at Meadow Lane ended.

:For now, I would appreciate it if members would continue to name just one player. The reason I'm mentioning this is that we have had five members join in.

My comment in the original post might not have been noticed.

Here are the players so far:

Colin Calderwood ✔️
Stephen Darby ✔️
Mark Yates ✔️
Kaiyne Woolery ✔️
Brian Kilcline ✔️
Drissa Traoré ✔️

Let's keep the one-player limit for now, everyone. 😄

Thank you, @CliftonMagpie, @TheSkipper, @Chris, @Robbie and @allardyces tash. 🖤🤍

I will let each of you know when you are back in play.

Wes Thomas played for both teams. He retired after playing for us, but in 2015, he was a Swindon Town player.

Matty Palmer played for Swindon before he joined us, he didn't get that much game time in his 18-month spell there and was eventually loaned out and then released! 😲 I can imagine someone at Swindon regrets that decision now...

That's now nine correct former players between Notts County and Swindon Town. A perfect start so far! I will keep the answers to one for now, as I want to see if any other members might be able to join in.

Updated List of Players:
Colin Calderwood ✔️
Stephen Darby ✔️
Mark Yates ✔️
Kaiyne Woolery ✔️
Brian Kilcline ✔️
Drissa Traoré ✔️
Wes Thomas ✔️
Alan Sheehan ✔️
Matt Palmer ✔️

If tomorrow things settle down, I will update the topic and mention everyone so that they know they can join in again, but this would be just to add a single player again. Allowing others more of a chance to participate. Thank you for the guesses so far.

I’ll go with Paul Rideout, I believe he came to us from Swindon in the 1990s.

Didn’t we start a fund to sign him permanently or something or was that another player?

Please feel free to finish this by naming as many other MAGnet players between Notts and Swindon Town. I meant to do this yesterday, but real life got in the way.

Kaiyne Woolery ✔️
Brian Kilcline ✔️
Drissa Traoré ✔️

Thank you to everyone who has guessed so far. Please look out for future topics as we take on teams away from home.

Jeremy Balmy is a player who played for both teams at different times. I believe he joined Swindon after leaving us.
