A welcome first win of the season for Notts. We've seen some real quality for a couple of the Notts goals, & some good quick play at times. Certainly the best performance of the season. Hopefully it will give the team lots of confidence.

Good win. Shrewsbury might not have won, but it still takes a committed team to beat who they are up against.

I had this feeling we would win. It's just a shame I wasn't there, as it would have been good to see a game with 5 goals, and 4 of them for Notts. I am seeing a lot of criticism still for Kelle Roos, I am not completely sold on him, but I do hope he settles further. It would be nice to see us use this as a confidence boost and push on from here. Shrewsbury might be in a mess, but they are a decent enough team.

Matthew Dennis now has 2 goals, and Alassana Jatta is back. I look forward to the weekend, but before that I await the full match video on the OS.

It was a great win with some good goals, however I thought Shrewsbury were very poor, Bromley will be a different proposition on Saturday.

Bass would have saved their goal easily, Roos was about 10 minutes late diving, I think it’s time to think about changing the goalkeeper and giving Griffith a run, Roos will lose us points this season.

A really important win. Shrewsbury were desperately poor and on that showing I wouldn't be surprised if they did a Carlisle, but you've still got to take your chances and beat what's in front of you, and we did just that.

Lady luck certainly played a part in our first two goals (the first was a goalkeeper error while the second was a harmless ball in that the visitors failed to clear), but on both occasions we were there and ready to pounce.

Special mentions go to Tsuroulla, who has given everyone a lift, and Iorpenda. I still think the latter is sometimes wasteful in possession and spends too much time on the floor for my liking, but he also won the ball constantly and seemed to be everywhere.

Some of our play is still sloppy and better opposition might have punished a few things, but we've got three points, some confidence back and Jatta returns on Saturday too. Phew!

I can’t believe no one has mentioned Jones’s contribution, he had a hand in the first three goals and I thought he looked back to his best putting dangerous crosses in.

As they say, you can only play the team that's in front of you.

Last evening I think everyone was apprehensive regarding playing the Shrews. But have no fear we did what we had to do and allayed all our fears.

I think we are now starting to see results that Martin is striving for, the fitness, players gelling with each other and the football getting close to the Notts County we know and love. Do not be mislead though it was far from perfect but definitely looking better.

I think that Bromley will give a more accurate idea of where we are at this moment in time.

Well done everyone for getting our chins off the floor and cheering voices up a notch. COYP.

We looked sharper, but Shrewsbury Town were very weak. Still, you can only beat the team in front of you. I’m hoping we’ll start to sort things out at the back, especially as we’re getting better going forward. A good, solid win overall.

It was a good response after the Barrow game, and a solid win at Meadow Lane. There’s still plenty we can improve on. Performances from Notts have often been like this, either a strong first half or a better second. Yesterday felt more balanced, with a good spell across most of the match. I think the passing will get sharper with more games and training. I’m not too worried, but we’ll need to raise our level against stronger or better organised teams. No offence to Shrewsbury Town, but they were poor. They had a few decent moments, but their defending was all over the place.

A vital 3 points. Of course it is early but I suspect it will be an incredibly tight promotion race so every point gained is priceless.

I thought we were well in control at 2 nil and then a soft goal whichwas a body blow. Only a fantastic save kept us ahead at half time. The response in the 2nd half was exceptional. It is hugely encouraging. I'm delighted for MP.

Beautiful chaos I think is how I would describe the match, it wasn’t the complete performance by any means but I thought there were a lot more positives than negatives.

From off we were pro-active and I liked that Norburn was pushed ahead of Palmer so we didn’t have them tripping over each other like they did against Salford. We were a little over the place at times, Jodi was desperate to play wide, he did everything to avoid playing as the number 10 by always drifting to the flank. And I still think we ask a lot of the wingbacks as it’s easy for them to get overrun especially when teams play a wide player and a full-back.

The front 4 out of possession when Shrewsbury had the ball deep was better, Dennis and Jones almost operating as a front-pair being backed up by Norburn and Iorpenda, it did force them to go wide but when we timed the press wrong it did leave us exposed in the middle.

Again some of the passing wasn’t great, some of it was just the obvious poor passing but more often it was down to the wrong choice or players not quite on each other’s wave-lengths but this is one of the things that should improve with time. The early goal second half settled us down, especially as Shrewsbury were looking brighter in the last period of the first half. Great move and finish though, both second half goals were crackers.

I liked that we were able to make subs and we didn’t get weaker but also it allowed us to keep pressing. That is going to be key for us this season. It’s a minor and sometimes overlooked thing but just the effort and ability to outwork the opposition, we had that and if we do that most matches more often than not we'll come away with three points.

The back line really stood up to the task and deserves recognition. Rod McDonald was dependable throughout, Jacob Bedeau stuck to the basics and kept things tidy, while Sonny Aljofree not only found the net but put in a strong shift defensively. Kelle Roos pulled off a crucial save at 2–1 that arguably kept the momentum from swinging, moments like that are just as vital as goals. The overall shape worked well, especially with Matt Palmer shielding the defence, which helped us disrupt Shrewsbury’s rhythm.

It was also encouraging to see Kellan Gordon and Tyrese Hall come on and make a difference late in the game. Their energy and involvement showed we’ve got depth and flexibility when matches start to stretch. Having players who can influence things from the bench is a real asset, and it bodes well for the tougher fixtures ahead.

I was at the match yesterday. I meant to leave a comment sooner, but I wanted to take a bit of time to think it over properly. I thought Notts looked the stronger side overall. You've clearly got bits to work on, but it feels more like small tweaks than anything major. Compared to Shrewsbury, the gap is quite clear. We look like we need a full overhaul, and right now, League One feels a bit out of reach with the squad we've got.

Jodi Jones is a cracking player. His movement was sharp, and he’s always good to watch. You can tell he’s got that bit of class about him.

Nick Tsaroulla stood out as well. He looked like he slotted into your setup nicely. I remember him from his time at Crawley, always thought he had something about him. I was looking forward to the game, but I had a feeling we’d struggle at the back. Sadly, that’s exactly what happened.

I haven't seen Shrewsbury Town play this season, although I have been in discussion with @shrewswill and @friendlyshrew who has mentioned that they haven't been performing their best. Defensively, I am told they are "dire" and struggle to defend in key moments. I don't know if they have watched any of our games, but it could be entertaining for all the wrong reasons.

Best of luck to Notts for the rest of the season. I’ve always enjoyed my visits to Meadow Lane and spending time in Nottingham. There’s a lot to admire about what you’re building here with the site too, it’s a proper good effort.

I enjoyed the short cameo from Tyrese Hall last night - I think he's going to be an enjoyable player to watch this season.

It was good to see his involvement in the 4th goal for example.

But it's the playing style that caught my eye. Maybe not many on here watch the NBA but he reminded me of Darius Garland the Cleveland point guard, the way he moves and plays. I've always enjoyed watching Garland plays and I think it'll be the same with Hall.

A football comp is not so easy for me? Any ideas? Phil Foden a bit?
