So, is Carrol suspended or not?

This will make a huge difference because if he is, although I think Pilks can do a job. I would be concerned about pop shots from distance, then again wasn't it against Preston last season he proved his worth? I'm sure he will cope but I am fearful this will be the end of the road for Wembley.

A lot depends on how we respond and set ourselves up.

I have to be honest, I thought we would lose this before Swindon. Then I felt 1-2 to them, so keep to that and hope for the best.

Thoughts?

Not sure about Carroll. Gutted - can't go tomorrow, it's the C'mas curry night out for my C Parc crowd. I'll be in the Bombay at Mapperley, hoping for a win!

Think we'll have all on tbh. The away wins in this Cup have been great but it is hard to see us getting a win at home, we can't get a shot on target let alone a goal. My instinct is that we'll struggle but I can never predict a defeat. Notts to win it 2 - 1.

Come on you Piiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeees.

I'm guessing we will be fielding a full strength side, with the possibility that Roy may be missing. I'm not sure how PNE are going to approach the game, full strength side? who knows. Joe Garner is a huge loss for them. They have brought Jermaine Beckford in but I'm not convinced he will be up to the task for a while.

I reckon this will be close and could well go to penalties. I have a feeling PNE will advance.

Notts Want to go to wembley too much and PNE will want to focus on the Autos/Champions

We'll have a good comeback win, We've done quite well against PNE, and i don't see that being any different.

Notts 2 - 0 PNE

I think it might go to penalties and Notts will just win on pens.

I think they will win, we have to face it. We wont always win :P

Probably pens, we will most likely miss two.

Carroll can play, deadline passed for his yellow cards. I could see this going to a draw at full time to be honest and who knows what will happen with penos

Notts to score just before half time and a very tense second half.

Spoke to a few magpies earlier as I was heading into town, all say we'll lose because were at home. A lad in Argos didn't even know we was playing???

'Are we home or away?'

Home....

'Oh we'll lose'.

When I replied, I think it will be hard but I expect us to bounce back.

He asked who we was playing! Lol

Come On You Pies!!

Well what can I say. Cold and miserable. and that's just the players!

Not great, but at least there looked to be some fighting spirit in the second half.

SD really needs to have a word with himself and sort out this rubbish formation. 1 up front does not work at home. End of.

Forgot to add wet to the list. Not a classic night of football. I suppose you could say it was a traditional Tuesday night game at the Lane. No atmosphere, no passion, wet, windy and freezing and we get beaten. Again.

I'm pleased to see it ended how I saw the score, not a bad result. No idea on performance but I wished I could have made it.

We'll bounce back!

I was hoping to see more opinions :)

Ok, well out of necessity I had to suffer BBC Radio Lancashire:

Colin, Deano and the coverage from Radio red is absolutely marvellous, compared to the complete and utter shambles I had last night, the commentary kept chopping and changing from Yeovil v Accrington to Notts V Preston without any warning, and I don't mean to report on important stuff either, it was for the whole match constantly.

From what I did pick up, we started very brightly and Preston were a little slow to get into the game. The goal came from a mistake by Roy Carroll, although they said he was moaning about being impeded.

Alan Smith was lucky to stay on the pitch.

Simon Grayson and Shaun Derry spent the last 20 minutes laughing their heads off at the idiot in the middle. The referee by all accounts and his assistants, were dire.

All in all, they seemed to think that it was a fair result as we showed some fight, but apparently we are the most cynical team in this division.

I made the late decision not to attend this match, I had a gut feeling that it would be a miserable night for us so I ran myself a hot bath and listened to Uncle Colin on the radio.

On balance I think I made the right decision. From what I heard we started really well, faded and then came back stronger in the second half, we were unlucky to have a shot cleared off the line and then hit the bar but apart from that there was very little cutting edge.

In his after match thoughts Dean Yates who's opinion I respect said that one up front wasn't working at home and SD should change it.

I think the biggest thing from last night is not the result, but the obvious fact that SD has got to change the formation. Table position is irrelevant at the moment due t poo last season's failures. Entertainment needs to be addressed. We just need to give ourselves a fighting chance. Midfielders play in midfield. Front men up front.

WINGERS ON THE WINGS please SD.

I have never been to Wembley. I was hoping Notts would make there this season. I can't wait any longer so I will attend a final there in 2015. I might go to the FA Trophy final. Although the JPT final could be an option.

So, did someone invade the pitch?

Simon Grayson and Shaun Derry spent the last 20 minutes laughing their heads off at the idiot in the middle. The referee by all accounts and his assistants, were dire.

Many comments on FB surround how poor we were but losing 1-0 to a good side is never bad.

It just was not our night yesterday, at times we looked pretty good but it was a connected display. Very disjointed from front to back, we need to drop the lone striker. We are not a premiership team! It does not work unless you have quality there and we dont have that.

Murray and Thompson for me should start.

Cant say I am bothered, it gives full preperation and focus to league games.

I hope we can maintain a good position but i do think we will start to free fall, our performance have not been very good recently and if we play good sides they will soon start having fun. I was surprised Preston had not scored a couple more!

losing games is not good, especially when you have a tough run but hopefully they can respond against rochdale.

it would be nice to beat them.

Jones and Derry both think we need to be clinical upfront?

Its starting to sound like every other season. I am not bothered, i felt we played much better in the second half but it was a poor goal that we lost to.

Poor result considering we just needed a finisher last night.

We played some good stuff, its just not the complete article but I entrust Derry, remember hes one of our own!
