Brussells sprouts

Featured Replies

I love brussells sprouts, so does grandson George, which is quite unusual for a child.

I also like Brussell tops which are sometimes sold at the greengrocers, they are like cabbage but taste a lot nicer in my opinion.

I don't think Brussells sprouts can be classed the same as tripe or black pudding, I wouldn't go anywhere near either of them, I'm not keen on any offal at all, sprouts are vegetables and good for you, black pudding is dried blood and tripe is stomach lining YUCK!

I wouldn't even feed tripe to my dog, let alone put in anywhere near my mouth @PTID1862.

Isn't it weird though the change that supermarkets have brought around in our eating habits, lots & lots of dishes that were the staple food of generations past have now gone by the way side, one though that I will never ever stop eating is liver & onions in gravy, now that's a dish to have on a cold day in winter

Curries and pizza have become very popular  but as far as I recall only became widely available from the 60's

Many, many years ago ,on holiday in Blackpool with my cousin and some mates,we went for our first breakfast in our hotel. We were each presented with a lovely plate with egg, bacon, sausage, fried bead, tomatoes, baked beans and BLACK PUDDING.We all tucked in and my cousin mentioned that the 'black stuff' was nice and asked what it was,as he'd never seen it before. When we told him how it was made  he  was completely put off and refused to eat  it  any more.I haven't had any for years and don't think I could eat it now.

I like sprouts ( nobby greens) they're ok, the womenfolk don't like feeding me it tho cos of the after effects.

About half an hour after eating them I get seriously flatulent, any ladies present just hate it, but guys and kids love it especially if I set fire to it ( it burns off the bad smell honest ). You can't beat a flatulent fuelled fire after dinner.

I don't like brussell sprouts and no-one in my household does either. I do know some people that do like them though. I don't remember ever liking them.

Dripping on Toast, a slight sprinkle of salt and a mug of gravy, YUMMY, just what you need on  a winter's eve

My dad used to have dripping sandwiches in his snap box every single day.

When I was a lad I remember my mam taking me with her when she visited an old lady, we had tea there and she did some bread and "butter" to go with it but not having very good sight she made a mistake and put lard on instead, my mam put it in her handbag rather than offend her, the trouble is the old lady saw the empty plate and made some more. :rollonfloorlaughing:
