Jake Cassidy to Return?

Supposedly occurring to "Mike McCarthy" on Twitter and the ThisisNottingham website, Wolves striker Jake Cassidy is still on our managers radar. He wrote "Notts County manager Shaun Derry confirms interest in bringing Jake Cassidy back to Meadow Lane. Says McLaughlin & Laing deals difficult."

It doesn't do anymore than state the obvious really, getting McLaughlin and Laing back would always be difficult.

Forest are going to need to balance their squad and I can see Laing making his way into their side on rotation due to their transfer embargo, whereas Pearce seems to support McLaughlin so they're very unlikely.

Would you take Jake Cassidy back?

I've only had one fan say something remotely towards keeping him, I think the majority here will also sway towards no.

I don't see what Derry see's in Cassidy, there must be something. It can't be because he trains hard, many players do this and scoring in training isn't enough to go on for selecting them in games. I do hope we spend the money more wisely, what do you think @Cobby?

C'mon I'd like to know bud.

I didn't notice he had returned back to Wolves, I certainly hope Derry rethinks this.

He is not useful for us, we could find someone far better.

@hissingdwarf are you sure? I think you could say it and mean it properly.

I think this is more about shaun keeping his foot in the door just incase deals cannot be met, it sounds like Andy Johnson wont be signing but I never believed that one for a minute. Jake would always be welcomed back but I dont think its unfair to ask more from him.

Cassidy can't play in the role we use him for, so why bother?

Personally, I don't think he has sufficient talent, mobility or pace to be any good at this level. He had a flurry at Tranmere but he's done nothing for almost 2 years now. He's 21, he should be a more complete & effective footballer imo.

As a striker, he's hopeless - he doesn't score goals!

I watched Derry's interview on the magpie player, he spoke about how Cassidy did what was asked of him, played upfront 'alone' and that it's a 'difficult' position when you're a 'centre forward'. He also said that 'people' would no doubt of wanted more goals from Jake but he held the ball up well and the job he had done didn't go 'unnoticed' by him (Derry).

He gave us that physicality that we was 'crying' out for.

I'm not trying to be negative, just aiming to point out what our manager thinks but I honestly don't think he saw what we had. He often lost the ball without players around him because his first touch was like plucking it up. Very bad first tough!

He was also easily muscled off the ball.

Yea I agree that the money could be better well spent. Midfield seems like it has taken a good hit from our loans going back and shame about Laing to be honest, I really liked that loan. it seems to me that we get the best out of loans from higher clubs looking to get their youngsters some playing time. Think we need to grab some premier league or scottish premiership league loans. Specifically. I couldnt decide who we should ****** up, but we definitely could use some more energy boosted to the club.

Looks like we just picked up Alefe Santos. @super_ram whats everyone's opinion on this kid?

hopefully he can impress, good luck to him.

cassidy came with a massive amount of excitement and rep, just look at him. fingers crossed he offers us some flare! when did we last have a brazilian in our team?
