There's quite an interesting insight into his training methods too.

I'm still not getting carried a way, I think a good season is all I am hopeful of and for some stability to reach each corner of Meadow Lane. I wouldn't be overly bothered if we missed out on automatic.

Let's hope Moniz gets wish, as we would all love to regain promotion.

I hope to see us in contention for promotion in some way. Top three would be superb, but I wouldn't press the panic button if we were knocking around the fringes of the top ten at the halfway point. It'll take us a while to work out our best team, and for those players to adjust to the division. I'd be very disappointed to see us in the bottom half though.

Many managers try to temper expectations so that their players aren't under too much pressure, so I was surprised to read this. It's certainly a bold statement to make.

I'm worn out trying to learn the players' names!

I'd hang fire on the optimistic predictions until Moniz can actually win a few games and we see what this new crop are actually made of.

46 games, a hard British winter & a cast of thousands, most of whom have not kicked a ball in anger much over the past 2 years doesn't automatically spell success to me tbh. As usual, I hope for the best but I'm not getting carried away based upon stuffing Arnold& RR - and failing, in relative terms, against the likes of Scunthorpe's Academy & Grimsby! Not sure where all the high hopes originate from.

Anything is better than Hollis, Cassidy, Whitehouse & Hayhurst - granted.

If we are in the top 5-6 come Christmas, then I would say Champions... top 10 would be Play offs... below that and as Riccardo says "we will have failed" and will IMO remain in this league

Every new season my heart says we will be champions of our league plus league,  FA and Johnston cup winners. I don't bet on it though.

My head always says we wont but whilst we are still in the competition, I always think we should do our best to try and win it.

I feel we are one of the big boys in this division so will be looked on as a good scalp to take. To that end we will meet a physical and determined challenge from every team we play. if the lads are not up for it, it could be a long season.

There are other questions that will be answered in time. Will we be able to play fast flowing football on waterlogged pitches. Do we have a plan B? Will Deadman, Attwood and co attempt to set a new high in incompetence and stupidity, as officials try to hog the headlines. There is much that can go wrong. and as we know, it wouldn't be Notts if it didn't.

As yet I have not formed an opinion of "Ricky" or his squad, as I don't feel we have seen his starting line up yet. He seems to have confidence in his team, and in saying we will get promoted, he is only repeating what he must have said to entice them here. If nothing else our recruitment committee should be weeding out any one who has not come here to win.

All the players should be aiming for promotion as a minimum and if they feel pressured by that then they shouldn't have come to ML

imo

Moniz has to get us promoted but whether these players can cope with the harsh reality of League 2 football is another matter. Last season I saw some abysmal decisions made by the officials and it can only get worse in a lower league! Even though we've signed loads of players, I'm not convinced we've got it right. Last season we conceded so many sloppy goals....have we got a solid defence?! All the hype about a Lee Hughes type striker and we've so far failed to sign the A lister prolific star goal scorer (have we reached Z yet?!). We missed so many chances last season because we didn't have a sharp goal scorer!

There's no doubt that Notts really need to be playing League One football, just as I don't question that this squad has some 'real' quality that could step up a little higher than that but I think it will be a transition period, one where we will have to be up for it just as much as the players. It's not going to be easy, even if it seems like it might be but we just need to stay rooted to the possibility that we may not have it our way.

I will stand by Moniz regardless, and I do think he will do well.

Football and results sometimes can be very unpredictable. Now if you've read what I wrote, don't forget our prediction league ;)

i dont think it is positive, i see it as somewhat negative because it applies unneeded pressure on the players. the players will be the people with the most expectations, you look at our squad and its depth. You must think the side could storm the link, so i think saying anything less than promotion at this stage is not needed.

Only time will tell, but i think this season will give us chance to build the team up and focus on playing better to achieve promotion at the right time.

I hope he realizes not only does this put pressure on himself, but it also puts pressure on the squad. I agree with @liampie, lets hope he can withstand the heat.

Get out. Promotion or fail? Then what happens? Heres the scenarios:

We go up to league 1, struggle again like the last few years , fans complainig and teams performance goes down.

Or

We just miss out on promotion, fans arnt happy and neither are trews. They sack moniz because the fans ambitions where to get promotion or fail. When moniz goes so do our team. Think about how many players will leave if moniz go because of loyalty to him! Then what? Start all over again for a 4th year? Let moniz settle in for a season then focus on promotion

I am not worried, we need to see out the changes Ricardo Moniz has introduced and the stability will come. At this stage I feel it is all about consistency!
