Desperate PR

I have never known the lengths our club has gone to to try and tell the fans that Ballbag the clown is the next big thing.

It smacks of desperation, the desperation of knowing they have well & truly got it wrong

I think he handled the conference well. As I said in another thread, all he has done is have a pop at a job with no chance and struck lucky. The failure is that of the board to recognise the need for experience to guide the club.

He may turn out to be a shrewd appointment, but you ask 100 fans and 99 will say that's a massive gamble again and does the board never learn.

The rumours about him are the most worrying thing on his shoulder. Negative reactions from a lot of players he's played with doesn't sit well with me and I hope he has matured enough to realise that stuff like running and running then standing on one leg after kicking a ball at someone's face hard enough to break their nose isn't going to win over the negative reaction he has received due to the boards decision.

You never know a few wins and we might see something different. Until we do I'll rely on Uncle Colin to keep me up to date and give a few Saturday's to the wife.

Christ I hope he starts winning quick!!!

@magpiejue said Freedman called up MatchTalk?

I really don't know, he seemed keen to please and impress people. I can't say I would overly enjoy listening to him, however he's far better than Richard Dryden. Not sure if I would prefer listening to him more than Ricardo either (and I struggled with him).

That said, I am prepared to give him a chance.

A field where dreams become reality.

Yes, my mum told me he'd called in. Didn't listen myself, think the walk yesterday had caught up with me. I was asleep Lol

I heard that but I don't think he called in I think it was a recorded interview, Freedman had a lot of good things to say about him (well he would) and when asked if there was a chance of getting players coming from across the Trent he was very guarded and said that wasn't necessarily going to happen and sometimes it was better for players to go further afield but he didn't rule it out.

The deed is done now we may not agree with the appointment but we've got no choice so for my part I will support him as I do all managers, I'm not confident though.

The club's PR/propaganda has this guy as the new Mourinho! Unfortunately they haven't specified if it is the Mourinho who wins trophies or the Mourinho that alienates the players, staff and just about everyone else he comes into contact with.....

Could be both!

Lets just give him time and see where he takes us!

There will be one of two endings to this tale, he will do well and end up being poached by another club or he wont.

i hate to say it but i agree! bad message to send out, along with comparing him to a club legend.

I know I call him ballbag the clown and Dougies sex slave and apart from him thinking that two wins and all of a sudden we will call him the messia, I don't have anything against the lad, as you put it he struck lucky, really lucky. I don't have anything against The chairman, board etc it is just so exasperating that we have yet again gone for the complete opposite of what we needed and the lengths they are now going to pr wise to try and convince people that they are right.

Yet again just when the timing is right to appoint a manager that would unite the club and fans they appoint an unknown entity that has recently been sacked for being a down right tw4t

What I struggle with is that if he is not the next Brendan Rogers then the league below us is the Conference, and the end of our status as the World's Oldest Football League Club. Watford had the relative luxury of being in the championship when they appointed Rogers.

By the way if you go to Notts and pay on the day by all means wait to see if Fullarton's team produce football worth seeing but I hope every Season ticket holder gets down the Lane for the Wimbledon match, Its Notts that we support not the manager, and the team I think need to hear the crowd 100% on their side.

Hi Northants, I'm new on here and have been looking through most of the threads and came across this post.

I wanted to ask about the last part of your post about being 'sacked for being a down right tw4t' .....Where did this come from?

There is no such thing as bad PR, it all does something.

When people ask what 'American Pie' is about, they're missing the point. The song isn't about the lines themselves - it's about what is between the lines. The song is about what isn't there.

Don McLean

Time will tell, we don't know how he will do no matter what he said.. as they are words not actions. We don't want to lose the status either.
