According to a few sources, we have enquired about Chesterfield striker Kristian Dennis. An actual goalscorer.

But unfortunately so have Wycombe Wanderers. A much more attractive club with a better type of football that will suit his play style more. It surely has to be a money war in terms of his salary and how bad both clubs want him.

Meadow Lane is more local than Wycombe to a player who lives in Chesterfield (or there about), plus a nicer stadium all round. It's always difficult pitching ourselves, yet we do have some advantages. Let's see if it's true first!

A field where dreams become reality.

I’ve not seen much of him but I believe he scored over 21 in a team that was relegated, if that’s the case (and please correct me if not) then he would be a good signing if we can pull it off.

I would hope for a better striker, he's 28 and his record isn't the best.

He may have got 21 goals but we need someone we can build a team around, not someone who will end up leaving after a few seasons.

He could do a job in League Two but I am unsure if he would be the right target for League One.

I would like to see signings come that would narrow the chance of relegation once we do go up, 28 is no spring chicken but it does depend on the type of deal. Kevin Nolan will most likely be keeping tabs on several players.

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!

Good signing for me.

I think he could bolster our options up front and he still has a few seasons where he could be a main player for a club. He's 28, Forte's 30? That would be a good mix of experience. We would just need someone younger who has pace and can be more of a threat on the ball.

his record seems okay with his last three clubs, i dont know much about him. his he a busy striker? someone who is quick and can provide neat finishes? @ARLukomski

From what i hear he's not Mo Eisa but not Jon Stead. In the middle. I mean he scored 19 for a team who finished bottom. In a better team he could flourish. Apparently Chesterfield fans felt that his performances at the end of the season, he looked like he had, had enough of being there and who can blame him?

In all honesty, i would like him or Gilchrist from Southport. Gilchrist is 23 and can have a good few years with us as our main striker. Only 5'10. Proven goalscorer in non league. As shown several players have made the step up from non league to league two well. Dennis, Doidge, Akinola, Bogle, Matty Taylor, Eisa.

Age isn’t the issue for me. Let’s face it, at the moment we can’t afford players from the top 2 leagues ( other than the odd loanee) so if the 5 year plan comes off he won’t be here then anyway. I would prefer looking at good League 1 standard to take us to the brink of the Championship then see how the finances stack up then.
