Notts County - 17 - Rolls Royce - 0

Featured Replies

I expected to thrash them but some of these people are just workers, they play Sunday league football so what's the big thing about scoring 17?

If it was a rugby score I would understand. ????

Good run out, the new winger looks handy and Vaughan did well.

You can't judge the players really based on the standard of opposition but the game was enjoyable to watch.

It was almost like an exhibition match, to be blunt I don't see the point in playing Rolls Royce.

I think non league teams like Carlton Town, Basford United make sense but not these. A group of fans playing against them would probably be the same outcome, just leagues a part.

Friendly or not, 17 goals is impressive and as a fan you would have loved to see how they played.

Positive start.

When people ask what 'American Pie' is about, they're missing the point. The song isn't about the lines themselves - it's about what is between the lines. The song is about what isn't there.

The point of matches like these, which is why they are always the first game/games are to allow for players to get used to each other, formations and to build relationships on the pitch.

Training is one thing, putting that into practice is quite another.

The other massive benefit to these games is that they give something back to the fans & the local community.

If you look at how are fixtures are planned it is quite obvious that they first two are about what I said above, then the real tests come against higher opposition.

I can almost guarantee you that the first halves of both the Leicester & Derby games will see us going at it properly then the subtle formation changes etc will come into effect.

While it was certainly a mismatch, it was ideal as a very gentle start to the season.  It gave most of the squad half a game, and it was a good chance for fans to put a face to some of the new names.  I couldn't help but notice how seriously Kevin Nolan took it, he was frequently out of the dugout shouting instructions to the players.  He seems determined to instil good habits into the players and maintain standards whatever the opposition and score.  We can't draw any conclusions due to the standard of the opposition, but 17 goals without your two main strikers has to be encouraging.

What right do you have to tell me I'm wrong?  You're not my Granddaughter.

Good grief, 17!! Really!!

Rubbish, Nolan out!

Notts needs to get double figures against Basford tonight. ????

Its a good run to get fitness levels up and ready for the bigger friendlies, I remember people saying how well Notts had done when Moniz and his men beat sides heavily then lost to Grimsby was it?

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!
