Is it really 52 years since I sat with my mates in a TV lounge in a Blackpool boarding house (along with about a dozen Scots lads) and watched England beat Germany 4 - 2 in the world cup final of 1966.How time flies!

If you think about how old Three Lions, it's not that surprising. it's 20 years old.

I remember it but to me time hasn’t flown, it seems like a lifetime ago and well I suppose it was a lifetime ago, a lot of things have changed since 1966, some for the better some for the worse.

Yes, this is depressing to think the World Cup hasn't come home for 52 years.

It will happen if England focuses on itself rather than trying to emulate what other nations are doing.

Off course grass roots and facilities need to always be improving, yet we as a nation have to install a positive way of viewing the England team. Get them believing they can win, pick the right players and blood the youngsters.

Let's not become Germany or Italy, allow the quality to speak for itself.

It's hard to believe England won the World Cup 52 years ago, its gone very fast.

Come on England, get to the final soon!

I have not believed England are capable of winning the World Cup until this past tournament, it should have been ours! 1966 is well before my time but what a great achievement back then.

I hope we can win it soon.
