Notts v Stevenage... positives

So a draw may seem not good enough but for the first time this season I see some hope.. the additions to the defence for me helped massively and the other areas finally today started paying off. At times the defence was under siege but they handeled it well I know we conceived 3 goals but we didn’t loose. Stead Husin and enzio with Hemmings I think played well.

What do you think guys and girls?

  • Defence looked better
  • Notts lead the game three times
  • Shown character
  • Played very well at times
  • Proved beyond any reason or logic that Fitzsimons needs replacing (very much a positive)
  • Scoring 3 goals
  • Enzio Boldewijn, Jon Stead and Lewis Alessandra playing VERY well
  • The fight
  • The reaction by SOME of the players to show respect for our support

Much more positives about today, it's just a shame that Fitzsimons has gone so bad. Confidence or whatever, he's not good to remain in goal and he may just be an okay backup.

We have to start somewhere @Magic magpie and it is a start. The football we played today did fill me with confidence under this new era. However the defence is still shaky. I think the key with that is we need a back 4 that play week in and week out together we can't keep swapping the team around at the back, even if that means the likes of Ben Hall and Pierce Bird have to be introduced later on into the campaign.

Positives for me were:

- 3 goals scored

- Stead and Hemmings is the striker partnership

- Desire and Determination

- Alessandra is in form.

- Enzio is in form

- Midfield held their own a few times

- Back 4 has a good balance of everything. Height, pace, experience, muscle. A bit of everything.

Yesterday was a really good result I thought, not only was the game entertaining we also scored the three goals we seem to need to get any points…We could/should have won the game when Allesandra put Stead through to give us a two goal cushion.

Am amazed that ten of the eleven players still have the confidence to play the way they did, admittedly 3 are recent additions. Allesandra and Enzio both had the measure of the opposing defenders. The back four didn’t seem like they had never played a game together even though we conceded three goals, so a nod of approval for yesterday’s debutants who were solid.

I will be controversial and say I don’t think Husin is the right man for the middle of the park with our other current lineup, I think he has some very nice touches/passes and he has improved with his challenging, is composed on the ball but it just doesn’t seem to be enough for me. He lacks awareness when we are out of possession. With Allesandra/Enzio/Thomas and Hawkridge our wingers/wide players offer enough going forward for this division that we don’t need a playmaking centre midfielder.

Am hopeful for the season still.

plenty more positives, i felt notts was the better team for the majority of the game.

there is not much else i can add that has not been said.

Plenty of positives going forward as an attacking unit look good , very dangerous, just think the new defence needs a little time to get to know each other then should be fine , still think a new keeper would help or a massive injection of confidence for Fitz , but a building block for sure yesterday , COYP

Chris has touched based on all the points and more.

I think the attitude to keep playing yesterday was a positive, none of the outfield players dropped their heads and they kept focused.

Notts looked creative and settled once the opening nerves settled.

There are a lot more points the club can take from the game against Stevenage which is good.

Posted
  • First time in awhile Notts looked good enough to win
  • The goals was well taken
  • Lewis Alessandra avoiding a red card is a positve
  • The way the team defended most of the time
  • The team work and creativity was better

Overall it was promising and encouraging, just need to figure out how to prevent the leak in goal.

Otherwise I would be repeating myself.

That's okay, sometimes it's just good to see if people agree with opinions.

There's no harm in saying this or repeating what's been said, if you feel that it is your view then share it.

Stevenage had scored 1goal in their previous 4games...... A1:0win against Macclesfield..... To put it bluntly...... Htf did they score 3against us....... Still no defence obviously......

People are forgetting the positive effect its had on the fans, most are not moaning despite the draw and being pegged back to lever terms three times.

Exactly buddy which is why we needed to be possitive and now it’s started

Yeah true, I suppose we all do have similar things to say from to time.
