Potential players

With all the released players and if, as I expect, Enzio, Kristian Dennis and/or Kane Hemmings follow them out the door, we have quite a lot of transfer business to do.

Yesterday the NEP published seven potential new players for us. It's mostly a list of football geriatrics on the way down, but one name stood out: Matty Kosylo, a 26-year-old goalscoring winger at Halifax rumoured to be attracting interest from Yeovil. He's a good age, proven at this level and is looking to make a step up in his career. That's the key for us now - we need players on the way up, not knackered old workhorses looking for a swansong.

In my view we need to be doing our shopping at the smaller National League clubs - with all due respect to them, surely we have more to offer to players who want to step up their careers. A bit like the signing of Neal Bishop from Barnet - he'd spent most of his career in non-league up to that point. We could do with another Bish now!

Thoughts? What kind of players should we be looking for? Any names?

@ARLukomski is the best person for this.

I'll do some research into the released lists of players from League One/Two and the National League.

A field where dreams become reality.

I would be looking at the better players that have been released by league two teams, i cant see any higher and i would hope the club avoids signing another batch of young faces from bigger clubs that wont get game time.

Joe Lynch who has been released from Crewe Alexandra has always impressed me, only issue is he's 19 years old and plays as an attacking midfielder. This is an area where Notts could do with more experience.

Stuart Beavon although old could be the target man that the club wants, he could do a season.

Also Jack Grimmer would be a good signing in my eyes, he's a sensible player that covers a wide area of the pitch. Rakish Bingham was wanted when he played for Mansfield, he could do a job in the National League. He would offer a lot of pace and the directness we have lost in recent years.

Former magpie Tahvon Campbell has pace to burn and did well against Notts. Gary Liddle would be welcomed back in a heartbeat! Francois Zoko [35 now]  could get the best out of Enzio Boldewijn if he remains.

If younger was an option, I think Argyle released Paul Anderson who is only 30.

Striker wise, Dean Bowditch, Jose Baxter [has issues], Marc Richards [36 but knows how to score], Matthew Foy [21 is promising].

Defensive no nonsense midfielder Marcus Bean worth a look IMO.

James Wallace, Tyrone Barnett, Olly Lancashire, JJ Hooper and Max Smallcombe are tidy players.

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!

A younger Marc Richards would be a good signing, first season in the Vanarama National League he could offer something for a season. Not many players would get the better of him but the club would need a younger striker.

"Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value."

Jose Baxter needs to find a club that can revive his career before its too late, he's a very good striker but its the demons that prevents it from showing.

Marcus Bean would be an awesome signing.

@DangerousSausage I don’t rate the NEP for their opinions, it’s generic and bland. Anyone could say x player should sign, it takes talent and time to make it worthwhile reading.

When people ask what 'American Pie' is about, they're missing the point. The song isn't about the lines themselves - it's about what is between the lines. The song is about what isn't there.
