if they have loses of over £20m, it does not look good for them. i hate seeing fans suffer due to stupid decisions by owners.

Administration, fan buyout on the card?

I hope Southend sort their problems out, it sounds terrible.

I haven't read much about their troubles, but I do always feel bad for the fans when a club is going through times like this. As we all know, it's no joy, and turbulent times are the hardest. Southend will hopefully be fine.

🤷🏻‍♂️Its not good and I hope its sorted, but my focus is on Notts.

Does anyone know how Southend have gotten themselves into this situation? I do not know much about how they've been doing in recent years.

Not 100% sure @upthepies , it seems to be a combination of things. An absentee chairman who has overseen a promotion or two, but who has now presided over two straight relegations so it's all gone sour. I'm guessing that he's financed the club by "loaning" money to it, so the 20m figure is what he's put in. I think the Trews did something similar. It doesn't mean he will ever see it back. Call me selfish, but I'd prefer them to struggle on for another season or two. We don't need yet another promotion rival with money to burn!

A 4-0 home spanking against Chesterfield later, they've now sacked their manager too. But worry not, Stan Collymore has ridden in like a knight in shining armour to save the day:

"I will go and watch games, I will get two exceptional recruitment specialists to get you players in budget, I will get you a manager or managers in front of you that can play attacking, open, front-foot football, that have integrity.

"If I can deliver Southend United what I promise tomorrow, Monday, Friday and then in two or three or six months' time and the club are in a healthy position, then we'll sit down and talk about a longer-term involvement."

If what Collymore says pays off, good on him for helping a former club out.

@DangerousSausage It's not going to change anytime soon, not at least without hard work. Finding new owners will be difficult I'd imagine.

I just hope Southend doesn't become another Bury, all the big clubs allowed to operate with massive debts and its the smaller clubs [their fans] that suffer when things like this goes wrong.
