If I went back in time the advice I would give my 21 year old self is, “don’t change a thing, you’ve met a beautiful young lady and in a years time you will marry her and have two fantastic kids, treasure your mum and dad they won’t be here forever, spend as much time as you can with family, things happen that can take away what you take for granted, enjoy every moment as if it was your last”. ”Oh and don’t expect too much of Notts County, there’ll be good times and bad but they will survive”.4 points

my only focus is to support pon and members by giving my thoughts, sometimes things natural go a bit slower and if I started a discussion which did not get many responses i would simply try to encourage it. failing that, i would try to highlight it in the content you might have missed. tony and i have been doing this for a few months, few people react but it does not make it less important.4 points

A Question for our More Mature PON Members. I will Admit this Question was asked on another Platform I'm a part of and, I Think it will be Interesting to ask here as it got a Excellent Response on that Platform. And apologies to our Younger Members for me leaving them out , this One Time. My Question is this. If You had a Time Machine which meant you could Go Back In Time. What piece of advice would you give your 21 year Old Self? As usual with this type of Question, I'll start the Ball Rolling. You shouldn't have Married this One. She's a Wrong Un'.2 points

As I read through the many different Topics or Threads, or what ever you care to call it, I wonder as a Writer how do you Class your Success on the Pride Of Nottingham Web Site? By that I Mean, do you look at the Amount of Views your Topic gets? Or Maybe the Replies? What do you Base the Success of your Piece on ? Personally I set myself a Moderate Target of a Hundred Views and Three or over Replies to any of my Topics has a Success. Do You Set Yourself A Target? Or Aren't you bothered that Much? Are you just Happy to see your thoughts up on the Screen of your Lap Top or Phone? I Believe that My Best Viewed Post was one regarding the Departure of Jim O'Brien from the Lane, which the last time I Looked (many weeks ago) had over 1,200 Views (small Potatoes compared to some other Topics) But it bought me some satisfaction. Most Replies was my Article about Loan Players Good or Bad? Which received 20 replies. That was My First ever Contribution to PON. Then there's the Topics I've written months Ago and Somebody Views one of them and it comes back to My Attention and I get a Certain Kick out of that, even though there are times I'd Completely Forgotten I'd written it!! And once your Topic has gone from Page One of the PON Site do you keep tabs on it or Do you think, Well that's Finished time to write something else, I Must Confess occasionally I do look for my Older Ramblings, I think the Furthest I've Gone Back is around Page 8, but this is Very Rare, once it's gone from the First page I usually Forget about it. I get My Inspiration from things I read on the Internet then add My Own Thoughts and Write a Piece About it on Here, or I Add my Opinion on the Main News coming Out of the Lane. Such has the Arrival of a New Coach or the Opening of the Nest (I still think, that's a Lousy Name) Fan Zone or the Departure of a Popular Player. One Criticism if I May, Some Topics or Threads I Think stay on the First Page for far to Long. I include my own Piece Has Everything Gone Pear Shape At Manchester City? Which was last Replied to on the 10th of October, I would think some people who see it still sitting there may think. Same Old Same Old and Click off again, if it appears there's Nothing New to Read or Comment On. So once a Topic as been on the Front Page as it were and Not been viewed or commented on, for a certain length of Time, it should be dropped and placed on the Second Page. But for the Most part I enjoy PON and Interacting with fellow Magpie Fans on Everything Notts, Football and other related Topics.2 points

A topic could be seen by 100–1000 guests over time, with 2–60 members having seen the topic. Only to have one reply, I wouldn't say it failed because sometimes all it takes is a few people to respond to encourage others into sharing their views. There are a few members who try to engage with every post possible, and in a meaningful way. I don't have any focus these days on success, I see things as a way to learn, and I personally just want members to enjoy themselves. That for me is the happiest aspect, as I don't care about the amount of reactions I get to comments (it's nice), but honestly, I would rather see members named within the leaderboard or hitting good amounts of reactions. I think it's more about quality, and togetherness. Don't take my comment about reactions the wrong way; it's just not something I focus on. My success here can only be deemed on effort, leadership and quality. It's something I need to step up, but I know people understand - which is a massive worry off my shoulder.2 points

Cal has been named National League North Player of the Month. Could Notts make a cheeky bid for him in January as a Striker/ Attacking Midfielder? Could be a smart move.2 points
-
Unfortunately, his move to Aberdean was his shot of playing at a higher level, and whilst I think he still has the chance to have some time in League Two. It's narrowing down, to which I believe it might just be better and more enjoyable for him to be a part of salvaging Scunthorpe United woes. He's a great player, very exciting to watch and when in form - he's hard to play against. It's great to see him re-find this form, plus earning praise but an element of it comes with being settled. If Scunthorpe can maintain their current form and push to make a return to League Two, then his injury concerns might not cause his career further issues. They know the concerns, will most likely have a familiar feeling to how we did when he was here and view him as irreplaceable. So, it is good to see him doing so well.2 points

The Following Question has been Raised and I'd like to Know, Which Is It ? To My Fellow PON Members. Over the past Few weeks the Magpies Match Reports on the B.B.C. Website have changed. The Boys in the Black & White Stripes Used to be Called Notts County. However in Match Reports they are Now Simply Referred to as Notts. And it seems that some Magpies Fans are Up in Arms about it. Asking why our Team are Now just Written as Notts and Not Notts County? So Where Do You Stand On The Issue? Dose It Bother You If You're Called A Notts Fan? Do You Call Yourself A Notts Fan? Or should the Magpies be called by their Full Title Notts County? And You Are A Notts County Fan?2 points
-
I refer to our fans, on social media as "Notts fans". Mostly, because it saves characters, and it can read better. I sometimes include Notts County further in the message(s), so I really don't see the fuss. We are Notts, County, Magpies, The Magpies, The Black & White Army, NCFC, Pies etc. Preference is one thing, but it's on par with political correctness and wokeness to take harms over something so trivial. This is when it comes to beyond moaning, and taking to using pitchforks or having a meltdown over it. The world has so many problems, but how we refer to ourselves as fans isn't one - provided it falls within meaning.2 points

Something super useful in regard to PON, would be to solely focus on my efforts and ignore what people say. I wish I had made my own judgement at times, but those are things you learn with wisdom and not everyone who suddenly befriends you has the best interest. I would also encourage myself to start the site sooner, with the same focus as I have now in terms of content.2 points

Now, I know why @super_ram is attached to a certain seat and always seems to reset every time he first sits down in it. I think Elon Musk says one thing, and does another. I don't really like his character, or how he goes about things. I wouldn't trust any robot built by him, I am not sure if I would trust any but at the price - I don't think we need to worry all that much.2 points

Speaking of Robots. Have you seen the latest Female Companion Robots coming out of Japan? Jeez they look so Life like and can hold a Conversation with people in Multiple Languages. They are Designed to express different Facial Emotions such as Sympathy when a Human tells them a Sad Story or News and are there to offer Comfort and Understanding. And the cost of these Robotic Dolls (as there called) ? They start at $2,000. The Day of the Terminator Cyborg Moves Ever Closer.2 points

Dear Oh Dear @Robbie I Don't Bolivia. That is So Corny, but it made me Chuckle, because it's so Bad it's Good. I Think @Chris is going to have to add another Emoji to PON, one that says I Don't Believe You Said That, or perhaps Dear Oh Dear.2 points

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. When you are older and wiser (some might disagree with that one) I think that most would say that they should or could have done things differently. I wish I had stayed on at school. I just wanted to leave school & get a job, which I did. I wish I had taken my Motor Cycle test, but I took my driving test & bought a car & sold my motor bike. In those days you could ride a 250cc Bike on a provisional. My Honda CB 250 twin was a pleasure to ride. Cost me £265 with a £230 bank loan over 2 years. In hindsight though I'm pleased I learned to drive because it's so much better being in the dry than getting soaked to the skin in the wet on a bike.2 points

i hope he can get back to playing in the national league itself, a lower league two team might take interest in him. yet at the current level, he should be shinning and i am pleased he is.2 points

I use the dashboard for the vast majority of the time. I also use the unread area too. I check out & read posts from the past that are relevant to today. If a post is interesting & well written, even if I don't agree with parts of it, I will still like it. If I particularly like a post I will love it. I try to contribute to the site by reading as much as I can especially from members who may not get the everyday response as those who are on here every day. The site has a good system as far as I'm concerned that rewards members that interact with others. The more that one interacts, the more they are rewarded. Ie, reputation points, & achievement points. The site is all about encouraging interaction & that's a good thing because more interaction will help the site grow even more. My advice to @Wheelbarrow repair man & newbies is to read the posts from different members, because there are lots of good posts on PON & respond with a like or a reply. It's not just about the new posts and the first couple of pages of the dashboard. It's about lots of hidden gems that are just waiting to be discovered again. Check out some of the back articles posted by PON, & the blogs. Some very interesting stuff there too.2 points

@Wheelbarrow repair man If you read an unread topic it disappears from the list but if someone else posts in that topic it becomes unread again so you won’t miss anything. Featuring and unfeaturing can only be done by a moderator.2 points

@Fan of Big Tone I always go onto the Dashboard I never thought about the Unread Posts, I thought that was something Different. So once I've read something it disappears from my Screen , if I read it from Unread Posts? If that's the case I'll stick with the Dashboard as I Like to Check up on New Comments and Views which may come along, as I've had a couple of Topics read and Commented on quite a few weeks after I wrote them. How Do you un feature something? I'd like to know because if any Topic of mine which Bombs, I can get rid of it so it wont be taking up space on the Site.2 points

I admit to feeling a bit despondent when I post a topic and no one replies, it’s a bit deflating but in general I’m not bothered how many people view it or put a reaction on. I do like to see the forum busy with lots of folk posting because it makes it more interesting. @Wheelbarrow repair man I’m not sure what you mean when you refer to the first page? It depends how you view the forum, do you go to the dashboard or unread posts? I generally tend to favour the unread posts which once I’ve read one it disappears off the list. If you view via the dashboard then you’ll see your topic about Man City is featured which means it’s stops on the dashboard so people see it and might find it interesting. It has been there a while so I’ll unfeature it now.2 points

I usually refer to my team as Notts when talking to other Notts fans or people from Nottingham but if I was talking to e.g. a Manchester United fan and he asked who I supported I’d say Notts County.2 points
-
I think once you've said Notts County in the headline it's fine and I also just refer to us as Notts. And with Nottingham Forest being know as Forest, if someone says Notts it's pretty obvious who you are referring to. It's a big club feeling to be able to go by one word though, like if someone mentions "United" straight away you think Manchester, not Sutton. I guess if you were to say "County" at the minute with no reference most would probably think Derby, a few would think Stockport and us. If we can get to the stage where people think of us as "County" I'd take that as a compliment!2 points
-
I definitely agree the National League North is below his level, I’d actually like to know why he dropped back into it with Scunthorpe though, were there no National League clubs in for him? I don’t think he’d work as a striker, an attacking midfielder would probably suit his game more. That said, League 2 opposition is a world away from the part-timers in the NLN. He missed a large chunk of last season too through injury I think he needs a whole season, minor knocks aside, injury free otherwise it’s a bit of a risk for me.2 points
-
Great to see he's playing and scoring again after so many injuries! The NLN is far below his level. Unfortunately, his injury record will limit his opportunities to play higher - when you sign a player, you want him to play.2 points

Interesting question. I myself have used the shortened name when posting about Notts myself. In fact I use the abbreviated name most of the time I suppose it's ok to use the shortened name but bear in mind that the full name is Notts County. At matches, I've heard supporters shout CMON Notts, I've done it myself too. So I personally don't have a problem with reports refering to Notts County as Notts, so long as it's made clear the article is about Notts County. I've read reports where they refer to Notts as just County. That's the BBC too.2 points

Doncaster are title contenders but this game is 50/50 I reckon. A win for Notts would be a statement victory. I'd take a point. 3K Notts fans is amazing.1 point

We can, but I think we are still 3 to 4 players short. Definitely need another winger/wing back, that is a given. Would like another striker with pace, and/or another attacking midfielder. Finally, I’d like to see another keeper brought in as backup to Bass. Goals have dried up a fair bit since JJ became injured, so really grateful that the defence is really starting to gel.1 point

A few key things need to happen for the answer to be a yes. 1) Pick up wins against promotion rivals. Our record is mixed. We've lost to Gills and Vale, but beat Wimbledon. We've drew to Chezzy if you want to count them. We've got Donny, Walsall, MK and maybe Crewe in that. 2) Signing a striker and a winger (to play wing-back) who both have pace. The one thing we lack in our side is pace. Whilst some will say we've replaced Macca already with Jatta, to me they are different players. We need them runs in behind to stretch teams who sit deep. If we had Macca and Jatta together this season, we'd be laughing. 3) A strong mentality. This is something I've wanted for so long in a Notts team and Luke Williams brought it. That promotion team were mentality monsters. A similar thing is going to be needed this season. I love how we've started doing a huddle before ever game. 4) More consistent performances. Whilst we have only lost 2 out of 14, I still think Notts can play a lot better than they have been. The Grimsby, Bromley and Harrogate performances are the standard. Stu and the players will know we can play better. Hit them consistent performances and autos is a real possibility1 point

Is this a human in a suit? I think not. The artificial intelligence is moving at an alarming rate1 point

This is more than likely Fake. Elon as done stuff like this before and it turned out to be someone in a Robot Suit, this maybe the same. The only time to worry I would say is when Robots become Androids like Data in Star Trek The Next Generation. Yes I Know it's an Actor, but if Robots Do Ever become that Intelligent and Self Aware then the Human Race May Have Problems, They'll have to be a Kill Switch or a Short Life Span (like in Blade Runner) incorporated into each Robot/Android.1 point
