  1. I am hoping for another home win for Notts, but maintaining our undefeated run is the most important thing. Accrington are familiar with League Two, but I doubt they know much about us. If they were to watch footage of our games, it would be difficult for them to devise a game plan to stop us from growing in confidence at home. Playing away would be more challenging because they will be accustomed to their pitch and Notts tends to start slowly, but at Meadow Lane we are surely the favourites.
  2. It is important to appreciate the contributions of Luke Williams. He has made a significant difference to the team, and the coaching staff are crucial to the success of the club. It is refreshing to see him speaking openly and honestly, which is characteristic of his style.
  3. Yes, it is certainly possible that Notts could enjoy back-to-back promotions and achieve what Luton Town has accomplished. This is also true for other strong League Two teams such as MK Dons. While I would be thrilled to see Notts playing in the Championship, I am not in any particular hurry. I would prefer to enjoy seasons where we have a realistic chance of promotion, rather than being a team that struggles to survive in a higher league. In my opinion, League One would be a good middle ground. After spending a few seasons there, we should be able to establish a strong squad that can move forward.
  4. The game began promisingly, with effective passing that opened up the play. Tranmere appeared decent in their attack, demonstrating ample speed and causing an early worry when Jennings shot over. However, defensively, we remained composed and collected. The performance was commendable. John Bostock was consistently excellent throughout the match; his quality was evident in his daring passes that others wouldnโ€™t even attempt, thereby increasing our threat by repeatedly putting Jodi Jones through. Matt Palmer also performed well, with Richard Brindley providing solid defence. The second half was outstanding, even with us being down to 10 men. I donโ€™t believe Tranmere deserved anything from the match; Notts dominated from beginning to end, although they did provide us with a challenge.
  5. I believed that the commencement of the match was pivotal. From the moment the game began, we demonstrated our desire for possession and applied pressure. John Bostockโ€™s performance was exceptional, his astute passing and ability to decelerate the game significantly enhanced our forward momentum. All players performed admirably, but several could have been named Man of the Match. For now, my choice would still be Bostock, although others such as Richard Brindley and Aaron Nemane were equally impressive.
  6. Richard Brindley is perfectly capable, I do believe he offers a lot going forward and protects the ball better than Aden Baldwin and Kyle Cameron, but Brindley has the pace to outpace the opposition. He fits into the centre-back role very well, itโ€™s where I think we need to let him settle in. Keeping him in form will help him adapt further into the role.
  7. Notts indeed need to continue building on this form. Last season, the winning streaks and unbeaten runs were a significant part of what made Notts so challenging to play against. We are finding our footing, but I believe we should perform well at home. Ensuring that Aidan Stone is protected and keeping them at bay is something Iโ€™m keen to see, without any of these careless passes that get intercepted. My prediction would be 2-0. I believe Macaulay Langstaff and Kyle Cameron will be the ones to score.
  8. A positive outcome could indeed serve as a catalyst for our season. I anticipate that Tranmere will concentrate on launching attacks down the flanks and creating havoc from set pieces. We must maintain a strong defensive line and stay vigilant, as I believe they wonโ€™t squander any decent opportunities. The onus is on Aidan Stone to make some exceptional saves, or our defenders to block, tackle, and battle to propel us forward.
  9. Itโ€™s rather amusing that Phil Parkinson has resorted to complaints now that Wrexham isnโ€™t performing as well, and how Ben Foster has chosen to retire simply because heโ€™s conceded a few goals. Things arenโ€™t looking too bright for them, but I believe if you sign a one-year contract and then retire after conceding five goals, you canโ€™t be all that serious about football.
  10. Iโ€™m hoping to see signs of improvement from Notts at home, whilst creating opportunities that could potentially lead to a goal. I donโ€™t believe Tranmere Roversโ€™ position has much bearing on where they stand; they have a strong squad and if they sense an opportunity to take the lead, Iโ€™m confident theyโ€™ll seize it. Defensively, my hope is that we can keep them at bay. Conceding two goals wouldnโ€™t be ideal, so if I were Luke Williams, I would emphasise the need for strength when in possession at the back. Opportunities should present themselves, being at home is an advantage for us. Iโ€™m unsure of the size of the crowd theyโ€™ll bring, but I would assume they have a substantial following.
  11. I appreciate Macaulay Langstaff's approach of not setting a specific goal for himself. If he does so privately, that's a different matter, but he's well within his rights to keep it confidential. At times, establishing targets can place unnecessary pressure on players who might not require it. As he suggests, a lack of goals or opportunities would indicate an issue, whereas scoring or creating chances will ultimately come to fruition with time.
  12. Things are progressing nicely now. It's always intriguing to hear Luke Williams' perspective, and I believe we're fortunate to have a substantial number of players in our squad. Each player brings something unique to the table. Additionally, as others have pointed out, Jim O'Brien's error is a collective matter that goes beyond just him. I imagine Jim himself isn't pleased with it, but given our familiarity with his capacity to respond, I am more inclined to align with Williams' viewpoint.
  13. I reckon the sky's the limit for Macca now; he's free from the pressure to constantly score. Similar to Lee Hughes [a bit early for me], I'm aware that many of his goals came in pairs or hat-tricks, and I see no reason why the same couldn't be said for Langstaff. He doesn't need to score in every match; it's simply gratifying when he does.
  14. Yes, I believe you've hit the nail on the head. Well said, @Chris. I concur with your points. Notts County appears to be adapting to life in League Two. Saturday could hold immense importance!
  15. Luke Williams has been making adjustments and has implemented numerous positive changes. I did wonder why Aaron Nemane wasn't in the starting lineup, but regardless, I believe it was a form of precaution and strategic advantage. With our ample squad depth, we can afford to make such alterations and preserve players for more significant matches. Nemane will now have additional time to rest before the Tranmere Rovers game. The entire squad has a week off, although it varies slightly for those who have played extensive minutes and are in recovery.
  16. I thoroughly enjoyed watching your vlog, @ARLukomski. I always do! It's one of the things that makes me nostalgic for the matches I can't attend, even when Notts County might not be performing at their best. In this instance, they were excellent, and the crowd noise was incredible.
  17. Excellent pictures of the fans at Donny, @Chris. It's good to have the Faces of PON back for the new season!
  18. Macaulay Langstaff's inclusion on the score sheet was well-deserved. He displayed a spirited performance and pursued numerous balls that previous strikers might have neglected. His determination to secure his inaugural goal was palpable, which makes his brace even more satisfying. I had even hoped for a third goal from him! The team's overall performance was outstanding, particularly during the second half. Regardless of the opinions voiced by Doncaster fans, our victory was well-earned, and our performance highlighted their shortcomings.
  19. John Bostock is aware that his primary focus is on his individual performance and Notts County. While it's pleasant to hear his reflections about a former club we are set to face, these thoughts hold little relevance to the current situation. After all, it's unlikely that he would speak ill of them or behave poorly. It's essentially a minor narrative, but his responses have certainly prevented it from fading into insignificance.
  20. The match seemed rather comfortable overall. While it's commonly said that there are no easy games in football, once we found the net, Doncaster couldn't have made it much simpler for us. They struck me as one of the weakest teams I've witnessed in a long while. I believe they would face significant challenges even in the National League. Although they made Notts work for the goals they scored, their performance was exceptionally lackluster. Contrary to the opinions of some of their fans, they didn't make us appear good; it was the moment Langstaff scored that we truly came to life. In the second half, we dominated them entirely and a 5-0 victory wouldn't have been unexpected. While the referee's decisions were bothersome, I've chosen to accept them. I'm relieved that the players also shared this perspective, as it could have posed difficulties otherwise. We must exercise caution regarding the number of cards we accumulate. Perhaps this is also a reason why Aaron Nemane wasn't included in the starting lineup? It's plausible that Williams wants to prevent suspensions from occurring.
  21. As soon as we manage to stabilize the squad and string together several matches with a consistent line-up, I anticipate greater consistency. While I don't perceive it as the core problem, I do regard it as a crucial aspect of the solution. It's essential to bear in mind that cultivating a resilient mindset and a cohesive unit of eleven players, all in good form, is instrumental in achieving victory. I view the Doncaster match as an excellent opportunity for us to excel on the road. While I anticipate them putting up a fight, I have faith in our quality.
  22. Dedicated effort typically yields positive results. Our squad is respectable, and occasionally, one must commence from an unforeseen point, ultimately reaping the rewards through persistence. Luke Williams' assessment is accurate; he comprehends the squad's status. While the loss to Sutton was unforeseen and understandably disheartening, persistently overlooking the strides we are making is unnecessary.
  23. Highlighting John Bostock's sentiment, "And having their unwavering support, both at home and away every week, holds immense significance." This underlines the remarkable dedication of attending fans; their continued backing is crucial, and eventually, positive outcomes will follow suit. The previous season carried an almost surreal quality, verging on the magical, a sentiment I, as a devoted Notts fan, had never previously encountered. While I may not have firsthand recollections of our previous promotion, we are faced with an enduring struggle to attain similar heights. Let's rally behind the team, journey to Doncaster, and return with our deserved recompense. With any luck, that will encompass three points and yet another unblemished defensive record.
  24. Given our current position, an away victory would be highly beneficial for Notts, particularly one that instils confidence in the players. Our record stands at two games with clean sheets and undefeated, a streak I trust we can uphold. Looking ahead, I anticipate Notts will create numerous opportunities on goal. It is imperative that we capitalize on chances from beyond the penalty area on occasion, along with delivering crosses and seeking to breach the defensive line.
  25. Nearly took the lead with David McGoldrick, extended his foot but couldn't quite make contact. Aaron Nemane is causing issues on the flanks.
