  1. hello, welcome to the pon site and community @Andystarscream.
  2. it was a very good performance by curtis edwards, he seemed to be all over the place when we needed him and for all the running he did. you would not believe he was 30, its great to have someone with his passing ability and work rate in the team. he fits in so well and just offers something different. very clever on the ball!
  3. great pictures, @Chris. its great to see your photos and the faces of pon.
  4. i think the subscriptions and donations are very worth while causes, i have several prints and i keep telling myself i should get a few more for my home. i think is is a great idea! i do need to support the sites upkeep.
  5. i thought notts made the game look very routine, from the moment the game kicked off you could see how the training had impacted how we played. such good quick football at times, where we would be patient when needed. i know we can only beat what is put in front of us but how poor were grimsby defensively? @Chris was spot on about their keeper. grimsby did look good going forward but not enough to make it look like there was anything more than just chances. i am not disappointed we conceded, not when we play like that and i did not see much wrong with our goals. i might be wrong, but grimsby fans calling the referee, i dont think he made any difference to the game. i dont know why our fans are praising them for the noise they made, they was silent for most of the game. it was a good amount for a thursday night and i respect that, but they could have been more involved. just like the grimsby town defence i suppose. as for the notts players, i dont want to single out any individuals because it was a great team performance.

  7. most enjoyable 90 minutes watching notts i have seen, i dont remember the last time we played with such control and authority over a team. grimsby looked okay when attacking, defensively a shambles and their keeper looked awful. so pleased that we earned our first 3 points of the season, i hope more good performances are to come. its good to see stuart maynard enjoying a solid win too.
  8. i thought this was new for a minute. i was asking myself why we needed another defender. im not that bothered that we missed out or did not sign him, i am happy with the defenders notts have brought in and think with time they will settle.
  9. surely they could just have a place to report and ban these numbers from calling? its partly why i only answer the phone to numbers that are not withheld. its annoying how nobody seems to be trying to cut these types of scams out.
  10. its key that we dont over play him or use him in a way where he tires, because he cant do it alone but can be such a big part of our squad. not just because of experience but the way he reads games, how he gets people playing around him and whilst i have commented on his performances last season which i thought he lacked consistency. this so far he has done very well with the minutes given to him. 600 games is not something to be taken lightly.
  11. i am looking forward to the game, it will be a nice early game under the flood lights and a chance to see the pitch under them. i do think we need the points but i am not worried provided we dont lose. i mean it would not be the worst thing but right now we could do with a boost. a win would do that, it would give the squad confidence and more importantly encourage stuart maynard.
  12. i do think david mcgoldrick role is more as a rotational player and helping to see out or making an impact off the bench. i think at his stage in his career, he is doing well and has started much better than he ended last years campaign. we need him at his best and i think overplaying him is not the solution, so i am happy to see that he will wait to influence the games. his experience is useful but it should guarantee him a start even if he earns the most.
  13. the fans had been displeased with his role as the manager, the way the team crumbled to stockport county must have been the last straw. there is a vlog on youtube that shows how the games effect dwindled the crowd from really positive to virtually empty.
  14. its great to have someone like jodi jones in our team and he does deserve this, i think its incredible that he has come back so strongly from his injuries. hes a player our younger fans can look upto, and with players like him at the club it will also attract supporters. i am glad he won the award.
  15. i dont think it has anything to do with forest as to why notts are establishing connections with local companies, its something the club used to do and i think joe palmer sees the sense in making the connection because the eyes that notts has on it since winning promotion from the national league. i think much of the surge in our fan base comes down to the way our owners invision the club. the fan zone has been a brilliant idea, which is helped by the travelling fans who come to watch their team take on forest. i do also think that fans wanting to watch local football might see the club as being an alternative to forest. so there are some benefits. its a good article, but it gives forest a bit to much credit in my eyes. rather than notts itself.
  16. @KB1862 my comment is aimed at sky who are over sensualising the save, its not mind blowing.
  17. you have to be stupid not to slow down when running that fast, sliding in like that. dion did rash challenges whilst he was here, fouls that looked silly afterwards. i dont believe he did mean to break or injure the gateshead player but he did make a silly decision to fly in. i think if he meant to do it or not is irrelevant, the fact he ran at such pace where you have little control and a lot of momentum is very reckless behaviour.
  18. i am pleased to see two fans answering, it gives a bit of contrast between what grimsby fans are thinking. its a very good opposition view for that reason. i think both fans come across well, but i think we will keep jodi jones.
  19. what was jatta doing? the first goal was very well worked, i dont really make faults for that kind of goal. yet i think its jatta who could have got a header. for me if a player is front of the ball, then there is no reason not to react to defending a situation. cedwyn scott did get beat, but thats what happens and wrestling with a player in a penalty box when you have been out moved like that would be silly. for me, i think both could have done better, but its harsh to single out just scott when jatta with his size could have easily made it his ball. fleetwood were very good, a good team that worked well with each other and focused on getting chances. they were happy to sit back, which is a shame notts did not make the most of the first half. i hope we play with a more cutting edge against grimsby.
  20. i am a bit nervous, because we can hold the ball and move it well but if teams work harder to score goals it looks like it would be us coming back into games. i would hope we could be a bit more creative, maybe go through the middle and times. if space presents itself for a shot from distance, consider having a go? so far, we have had players wait to shoot, where doing so from distance is only going to be blocked or deflected. notts needs to be a bit braver and creative especially in the first half.
  21. hes had a good career, its a shame to see him retire but he knows his body. i thought he always put effort in when we had him, i actually thought he did well in his position.
  22. good luck to them, i will be keeping tabs on the score here.
  23. dion kelly evans was always pretty wreckless with his challenges even here, its partly why fans seemed to go on about him. he was decent, and worked hard for us but nothing all that special. i think the challenge is sickening, i dont see why he decided to go in for it. i dont think he did it on purpose, but his speed was dangerous and the decision to try to tackle was poor.
  24. except crowley was involved with winning the ball back, moving it around and working in a way that gave notts a edge. jodi was poor defending and only got into the game more when we needed goals. dont get me wrong, hes a great player and its fun to watch him but at times his decisions lost the ball. i would say without jones, we would have been unlikely to get back into it. for me it was easily noticeable that dan crowley had the better performance.
  25. it was straight at the keeper, it looked a weak shot too. not sure how its a great save. its good keeping, making himself low and big, but if vardy had tried to hit a corner and that forced a save then it would have deserved the praise its getting. looks pretty standard to me, good move by leicester city but most good keepers should have reacted the same way.
