  1. you can see all the effort going in, yes its not the start we wanted or predicted but it could be worse. tomorrow with our support, we could make the game strangely feel like another home game. 2.5k of our fans could really make a positive sound and i have been impressed at each away game myself. fans are clearly putting in effort to. we need to put a positive step forward by firstly putting in a good performance with chances on goal, with the amount of our fans in attendance we need to make them feel excited. yet finally we need to kick start the season. doncaster despite it most likely being a tough game, could be a great chance to pick up 3 points.
  2. i know sometimes we will start of shaky even with a decent squad, i think much of the disappoint with the start comes from the expectations of us going strong again after our promotion last season but we need to continue with the amazing support we have seen in games. john bostock is right about what he says, we can still finish strong, lets be patient and try to give our all so that we might be able to encourage notts to achieve our hopes.
  3. i do think we are starting to find out feet, the focus on high possession is a good thing because when the focus levels increase and the players fully settle into the season. we should be able to create more clear cut chances. i think we have a good chance to get a good result tomorrow, we just have to make sure that any errors dont punish us.
  4. i think we could win either 0-1 or 0-2 depending on how many chances we create. i hope the games open but in a way where notts can hold onto the ball more than doncaster, i dont think there is any room for mistakes which cant be redeemed. i am very much looking forward to making this game.
  5. i love this @magpiejue and @Chris. the rich history of julies family supporting the club, it does run a lot in families and it makes reading stories like this. i feel over the years, julie has been a great support and she is one of the people i look up to from notts. i dont think we have ever met in person but i feel i know her well. her mother has been coming to notts games for aslong as i can remember, the fact she still goes is amazing.
  6. i meant more based on the chances we had, if we had played badly.
  7. i think its a good chance to get 3 more points on the table, doncaster are struggling right now and its the right point to play them. their first two games they played quite poorly, i was not impressed with what i saw but in their last match they did show a lot more character. well i will be driving down with @TheSkipper and @CliftonMagpie. i also know @Chris, @Callum234 and @super_pie are also going.
  8. this is excellent @TheSkipper, i agree with your thoughts on the game. each player does have a role to play and i think we do need to see more movement, we tend to be a little relaxed but i hope luke williams does say the players try to lose your mark etc.
  9. i am happy, the performance to say its our third game of the season was not bad and we just need a bit more effort on goal. if luke williams is happy, so should every other fan, its fair to feel like we should have won but nobody can demand it. the players tried, gave 100% and unfortunately it was not enough to beat morecambe. credit to morecambe for their defending, i thought they looked decent on the break.
  10. i think had we played poorly, it would feel like 2 points dropped but we played quite well. if we had the momentum and confidence to just go that little bit further, i think chances would have come which would have been a lot harder for morecambe to out. we need to figure out how to give langstaff the space he needs to finish. i would like to see mcgoldrick play closer at times and hopefully some of his clever touches will prove to be the difference.
  11. they knew we had the quality to turn the game on its head, they made the most of the chances they had and countered well. i think notts could have won if we had just that little bit more quality from the players but i left happy with the point and the clean sheet. we can feel like we have dropped points, but really we have gained one. neither us or morecambe had a chance that i could say, that there was a clear cut chance that should have won the game.
  12. as i have said on social media i am pleased that we are undefeated in 2, with a clean sheet. two things which should motivate better against doncaster. its still very early days, but i do agree that things are coming along. mcgoldrick was decent, jones had our best chance i feel. we just need a bit more quality on goal but it was not a bad display. now that we have won 1, draw 1 and lost 1. hopefully, we can start to see the intensity of the pre-seasons training giving us a fitness advantage over other teams and with that improved performances.
  13. @Fan of Big Tone it was quite the stretch for him, very good ball by nemane. they almost scored, no idea what was going on. mellon put wide of stones post. they are coming more into the game.
  14. its a good insight into the game, i think we need to be really on the game tonight but its going to be tight. i think morecambe will try to defend much more determined after their defeat to mansfield. i cant see them making it easy, but our midfield is blessed with so much quality that we have to create chances.
  15. i am looking forward to the game, i think if we use our strength in midfield and work hard enough to create chances we can force morecambe to play a more defensive game. its going to be a tight outcome but we have sent quite a good following to the game, so lets hope we dont come back disappointed. ????????
  16. jodi did very well as a team player and individually, i think he would be my man of the match and its not something i usually agree with when the club sponsors choose. he did well, his crosses were excellent and he linked up well with the team. i dont think he will get the goal, but we know it was him who scored. the win is all that matters but i hope to see more goals from him this season.
  17. the second half notts showed their real class, credit to grimsby for making it difficult. i thought they did well in the first half to cause us issues and their second goal was a very nice timed move. thankfully, we showed our better quality to win and i thought jodi jones was class. his crosses were pin point and gave us a means to get back into the game. i dont blame connell rawlinson or aaron nemane for the first goal, these things happen but we do need to make them less common.
  18. its going to be interesting to see if we play with confidence or if we still seem to have those early day jitters. i am hoping we can get macaulay langstaff on the score sheet, as he becomes a constant threat once he has scored and so far hes had chances. hes just been unlucky to connect well enough to put the ball in the back of the net. i think this is the type of game where starting cedwyn scott could benefit our front line. hopefully luke williams will explore this option, along with getting david mcgoldrick playing just behind langstaff but allowing him to drop deeper to pick the ball up from matt palmer or john bostock.
  19. huge relief to get the win, very impressed from the second half and i feel that should be the standard. notts will be fine, but we need to stop making it harder for ourselves. i think the squad were great pulling level and for achieving the win. jodi jones and david mcgoldrick can make things happen.
  20. a sluggish but okay start by notts. the first goal people will complain about connell rawlinson and he should have done better, but it was a silly pass to him. even sillier what he did, as he allowed rose clean through but that was always going to be a goal once you let someone one on one with the keeper. our equaliser got the best out of our players and we started to come back into it, their 2nd goal was a brilliant worked goal. i hold no fault for how that happened because it was a great move, which had excellent timing. 2nd half was a different tempo by notts, best team of the two for the longest period and i think we deserved to win. grimsby played quite well, but kicking our wingers to the ground started to become tiring to see.
  21. if there is a game which notts needs to dig deep and get a good result, its this one. i would take a draw, but a win would be a lot nicer for obvious reasons. it would be annoying to lose to the two teams that prevented us from making our football league return earlier than we did, so quickly into a new season. put the hurt and disappointment aside, we know we have a good squad and provided the players work hard to create chances we can score. defensively we need to be much better though.
  22. 2 games and two red cards, yes this is the cup but its silly. hearing luke williams say that aden baldwin should have left the ball to the keeper, but decided to needlessly put in a challenge says we are not coping with the pressure. it is disappointing because this and just a single shot is not what we should expect from this squad. its very poor, but i have the faith that once we get a win things will start to improve. i just worry that it might take awhile. personally, i would look to williams to try to adjust things. either change who starts or tweak the formation.
  23. its not a knee jerk reaction, but i intended to go to this game even though i have work. yet i have decided against this, as it would mean i would have to rush to get to meadow lane if i finish at half 5 like normally on a tuesday. if i end up needing to say for 6, it would just be to much. so i have decided after seeing the terrible performance against sutton i will save my money. i am not bothered about the cup anyway, but i had intended to go to show my support. the only thing i can say is how seriously will luke williams take it? the players need to use the game to respond positively from their shocking performance.
  24. i feel really let down by the players, i usually can come away with something positive and eventually calm down but i feel disappointed. i feel more disappointed by this performance than any of the ones we had when we went down to the national league. that squad was disjointed and lacking in so many ways, but this squad has the ability to play, they just choked and made it very easy for sutton. some players did okay, but as a team they let us all down. even luke williams said this, but unlike him i think todays result let all our fans down including those who did not go to the game. if we continue to play like this its going to be a long season, luckily for us its the start and we should be okay. luke needs to demand more and better, just the basics would be a start.
  25. i am looking forward to seeing how they compare to other teams, its going to be an interesting season but i think our preparation and focus on training will pay off. its almost on level with what you would expect from the top two divisions in terms of how hard we are preparing. i hope it pays off, but i am excited for our chances of gaining promotion.
