  1. dan crowley is looking shaper by the minute, he really performed well against telford. i thought they did look quite difficult to break down at times, but notts persisted and the two goals were brilliantly taken. i am glad we are also not over pushing the players, but taking the right precautions to avoid any set backs.
  2. welcome to pon @BeestonPie. i hope you join in with us.
  3. out of the 23 teams in our league, i want to make at least 15 of the away games. sutton, bradford, afc wimbledon, mk dons, tranmere and salfrod are all on my list. i might look into some more the picks that @Simon Clark mentioned.
  4. its good to know, i think the home kit is nice. it was good to see it in person and the fact luke williams wanted to have the stripes back is a good thing. we have to value tradition and go forward with. its also good to read the managers thoughts on the players, he made a good call to switch to 442 as it brought the best out of the players.
  5. he looked comfortable and appeared to be a solid defender, young enough to improve and someone who may be happy to rotate/backup.
  6. it will be hard to hear someone connect with mark stallard in the way that charlie did, charlie and stall were great together but i do feel the commentator role needs to have someone who is always there, so i thought this would happen with us making our way back to the football league. charlie always did his best, i wish him well.
  7. its great to read up about him, i remember him working for the @Football in the Community and being involved with youngsters who had nothing to do. his career is a very interesting one.
  8. i think hes really coming into it now, its hard not to like him because of his personality is great. i hope he manages to keep fit and becomes a vital part of our team, as he did well against forest.
  9. it was a good game and the decision to start a stronger squad was the right call, it gave us a better grip of the game from the start but i still believe that stoke squad in the first half were playing in such a aggressive [in pressing} way to prove to their manager that they are good enough for the first team. we looked good, against a strong forest side and i am happy with the outcome.
  10. will this be where we might see more of junior morias? i think we can still afford to experiment for this game, treat the boston game as if we are going into the season. give the youngsters a chance to start from the beginning this time. see how they do and bring on players in the second of half to power up.
  11. aaron nemane did excellent, especially early on. he turned the forest players quite easily, but they caught on and pretty much tried to out muscle him. matt palmer and connell rawlinson were class. its kyle cameron who stood out as being quite poor at times but it was a challenging friendly. he did some good stuff defensively but made some clinical mistakes which he needs to cut out. aidan stone looked good, he was better protected. david mcgoldrick looks fit as a fiddle as does jim o brien. mcgoldrick did some very good stuff. very happy with the account our players put in.
  12. i hope we do sign a couple more, i think two should do it but if we are talking about having depth i am still unsure who will be keeping adam chicksen on his toes. he performs way better when he knows someone else can take his place. a centre back would be a welcomed addition, i agree with everything you wrote @TheSkipper. i think if notts can win the likes of wrexham, tranmere etc we could be in a title race. i will take it as it comes but i feel very optimistic.
  13. i do think forest will allow us to play more than stoke city did, i think a lot of their players wanted to prove a point to their manager. i can see forest passing it around and trying to get into space but without pressing to an intense level. it should be a good game for both teams, nottingham deserves to be known as a footballing city. if we can give a good account of ourselves, that is all i hope to see but if they win by a large margin just remember how much money they have spent of their team. we are leagues a part and really its just a fun friendly. if they beat us its to be expected, they may act all mighty but we are a league two team at the end of the day. us beating a premier league team even in a friendly is something positive and worth being proud about. it will probably end up being a draw.
  14. it dont look promising, i hope they manage to be saved. their owner has ran them into the ground. ????
  15. there was some good play in the first half, just not much. second half we did better but its a friendly at the end of the day. i think we could lose to real madrid and some would not be happy.
  16. i thought dan leivers had left? has he come back then? i dont know, maybe its someone else but i think we are going about things well in the academy department, just need to get them up to scratch with playing in the first team because youth players can become good backups. plus down the line important first team players.
  17. chris puts no end of time and energy into doing something for others, he does not ask for the credit but he most certainly does not get it. very underappreciated by some parts of our fan base. this is a great blog, i really enjoyed it.
  18. keeping macaulay langstaff and building the squad further, adding depth into those key areas where we could do with just a bit more quality should pay off. its great to read that the players are enjoying being back, training hard and working towards another good season. its a very exciting time for us notts fans and we need to enjoy it as much as possible.
  19. i am not too concerned about the injuries, its pleasing to know jodi was not injured but was resting due to only just coming back. i think the squad is big enough that we can focus on getting them fit and ready before the season starts. hopefully, then we can try to keep the players fully fit as much as possible. i would not risk any against stoke but i do hope to see jr morias play at some point.
  20. we usually do stick with two teams, it seems a trend for pre season games but i do think games like this we should put out strongest players that are fit out. leave the alfreton and boston friendlies to tinker, use these higher standard friendlies as a means to get the squad somewhat settled. as if it was a league game and the others were the cup. whatever luke williams chooses i am sure he will have thought everything out.
  21. i think its a good chance to build momentum like we did last season, in my personal opinion the bigger games are grimsby town and tranmere rovers but notts needs to treat them all the same. i think its also nice to get those two games out of the way nice and early, i think if we can build winning streaks like we did in the national league, confidence will grow. i am very much looking forward to the new season.
  22. the way notts plays, any striker will get chances and i think macaulay langstaff benefits from this but hes still a superb finisher. im glad we have managed to keep him so far.
  23. it was good to see how different both teams were setup, i think the first was a bit more defensive minded and the second had more attacking options. it was good to david mcgoldrick. jim o brien was superb. aidan stone looks like a good keeper to have between the sticks. i hope he plays against stoke.
  24. when did we last have a squad like this? there are players who would make my starting 11, but others who could come in at any point. there are no players that have been signed who i dont think could start or be a key player. this is the first time in ages that i believe we have had so much depth in this area. luke williams is building well and i just appreciate his views on this. hes leading by example.
  25. i cant wait, either. i think the back of the promotion at wembley and the recruitment again has played a big part in why i am looking forward to the season. i generally do, even when we have had bad seasons and poor owners, with those antics thankfully seeming like a thing of the past. gareth jones comment about the reedtz rings home, i am very thankful for their leadership.
