@piedestrian Notts need to get better with their communication. Good communication stops or at least cuts down the on rumours spreading.

I agree, if Barry Cotter has been sent back I would be somewhat disappointed because all he needed was a run in the squad to get his fitness levels up. He was in and out, and that seems to impacted his performances but there's clearly a good player there. Whilst I think we have good options in his position, and perhaps he would fall behind, I think he would still be worth keeping but if he was to go back I would understand it.

I would still be disappointed that we never got the most out of him, and his pre-season friendly goal against Cardiff is a clear sign of his quality.

I want to start off by acknowledging that PON needs to return to a level of consistency with regard to the news, match reports, and so forth. I have numerous finished content pieces which I have put off because I wanted the site to be in full motion, but I haven't managed to keep to the standard I wish to set.

Moving forward, if I can't do something, I will ask one of the team members, and I am sure in time things will improve to a standard that visitors and members have enjoyed in the past.

I am also pleased to say that I have built and set up a system status page, which can be found here: https://status.prideofnottingham.co.uk/

Transparency and being up front is something I strongly believe in, and this system page will allow those who wish to see what is operational across the site. Issues will be posted as events, and updates will be given in a timely manner. If PON should happen to go down, you will be able to find out why by visiting this page.

You may subscribe to email alerts by entering your email address in the "Notify Me" box. Please remember to choose which updates you would like to stay in the loop about.

In the event one of these areas encounters a problem, you will be emailed and kept up to date with the progress, but only if you subscribe to this service. Bug reports will still be taken by the site and addressed within the forum.

Over the past week, I have spent time improving the mobile experience. While most of this will be noticeable only to team members, it does bring improvements to the header and logo for regular members.

There are subtle changes and a few improvements from a recent upgrade, which I plan to make the most of with these new features.

Awards will be given out on a merit-based routine, which will be more frequent. In areas and during the site's downtime, I will finish adding the rest of the ones I created.

There are a few more things in the pipeline, but they aren't quite ready to be mentioned.

My main focus is to get more organised over this weekend and pick up the content. It's a privilege to represent Notts fans and provide content to be enjoyed. I very much appreciate everyone's help, and a more oganised me will be a better PON experience for everyone.

Thank you for reading this,
Chris

  • I really appreciate all the hard work you and the team have put into the website. It’s clear that a lot of time and care has gone into it. As members, we should try to match that same level of effort. I include myself in that. It’s only fair that we support the work by staying involved and doing our part.

I think the site is shaping up really well. I’m genuinely pleased with how it’s coming together.

I do like all the improvements made over the past few months. They've have improved the site to a degree.

I would like to be able to go straight to a numbered Topics page rather than have to scroll down one by one which takes time. The number of the page that you could select was a much better option than we have now.

@Robbie if I am understanding you correctly I think you can go straight to a numbered page, see this screenshot. Is this what you mean?

Still think James Belshaw could do a job for us

Swapping a 33 year old Roos for a 35 year old Belshaw doesn't look like it would be for the long term that could make Notts any money if they wanted to sell him on.

I would prefer Notts to go for a good goalkeeper in his late 20s that Notts could improve & become more valuable.

I noticed how he got a hamstring injury in the second half yesterday form zero contact and no action, which needed the trainer to come on for a longish period of treatment to his upper leg (must've been quite long because all the Harrogate players were ages at the touchlines getting drinks and instructions from their manager)

So sorry, I don't think his body can sustain the vigours of pro football if he goes down as easily as that ;)

  • Harrogate boss night be frustrated but he would be wouldn't he. He didn't seem to be frustrated about his side wasting time or the other fouls in the penalty area that Harrogate got away with.

Notts were worth their point for their 2nd half display, & if Notts has taken their chances, they would have won the match at a canter.

That was a bit of a hard watch. Even in the second half, when we showed more urgency, we barely tested their goalkeeper at all. It's always difficult when the opposition is as compact as Harrogate were, but of all the crosses we put into their box, we were first to very few of them. As for the penalty, I thought Jarvis played for it at first, but on viewing the replay the Harrogate player had his hand on his back (and must have been pushing, otherwise he wouldn't have gone down with him). I missed the big handball shout on PiesPlayer and they didn't show a replay, so i can't comment on that.

Jatta, Hall and Tsuroulla had a quiet day. I thought Bennetts did OK, but nobody was really attacking his crosses. If Grant had taken his early chance first time instead of taking an extra touch, it could have been a very different game.

Harrogate deserved to take something from that game simply because of the spirit they showed with their backs to the wall, but from our point of view that game was winnable. At least we rescued a point.

Harrogate came with a game plan & it nearly paid off, but Notts managed to salvage a point and keep their unbeaten run going. Martin Paterson's choice of substitutes made the difference.

So who's your PON Man of the Match for Notts? I have chosen the starting 11 plus 3 substitutes for you to make your choice.

Those players are.

Roos, Macari, Ness, Bedeau, Tsaroulla, Robertson, Iorpenda, Bennetts, Grant, Hall, Jatta, Palmer, Jarvis, Dennis.

  • I went for Grant - partly because many of his 1st touches seem to elude many supporters. He’s aware, instinctive and creative. I thought he provided the spark, as opposed to Gall who seemed lethargic and off the pace until the last 20 mins.

The obvious difference between the 2 halves was Palmer tho’. He provided a bit of stability and balance and also allowed Hall a bit more freedom. Robbo & Palmer together are an ideal combination in the centre of the pitch. We look a good side when they play together.

I'm not sure anyone was head and shoulders above anyone else. I don't think the attacking players covered themselves in glory. I have gone for Ness. His run down the left in the first half shows he is more than just a head and kick it defender. We will need players of that quality if we get promoted. A shout out for Macari as well, often goes under the radar.

Morning all, there was heavy rain in the night but it’s dry and bright at the moment.

We are having a walk up to the doctors surgery this morning, Mrs. T is still having a few ongoing problems and she’s finished her antibiotics, she then wants to go and see her girlie friends for coffee so I’m on my own till lunch time but I’ve got plenty to do.

Later I’ll be watching Notts on the box, safe travels to our supporters.

I hope everyone is well, let us know what’s happening in your life.

Martin Paterson has chosen a few different midfielders for the first eleven this season, however it appears that he has settled for Palmer & Roberson as his first team picks in the centre of midfield, & has decided on an alternative of Iorpenda, Hall, or Grant in the attacking midfield positions.

That leaves Norburn & Iorpenda as an alternative in the centre of midfield & Dennis, Iorpenda, Hall, Grant or even Jones & Jarvis who could all fill the AM positions.

So far this season I think that barring any injuries, Palmer & Robertson have made the central midfield positions their own & they are my preferred picks.

I think it is a little more difficult in the AM area. At the start of the season Jones was picked to play as an attacking midfielder but it was obvious that his best place was on the wings.

Iorpenda started in CM but lately MP has been playing him further forward with Grant or Hall, then we have Dennis who has been unable to get so many starts since Jatta's return. & we have Jarvis who can play as an AM or Winger waiting in the wings...

My preferred duo in the AM position at this time would be Grant & Iorpenda with Hall & Dennis very close. I think the AM positions are still up for grabs & we may even see some additional player recruited for that position in the Jan window.

It is certainly going to be very fascinating in the weeks ahead to see how Martin Paterson works it all out. What are your Thoughts?

  • I've said that countless times myself @Piethagoram ! You must have missed the umpteen times I've made exactly that point )

For now though, I'm happy to support him as we look to gather enough points to put us in a good spot come January.

Obviously Hall is ahead of all AMs, but in the absence of Luker, Grant is worth one of the AM shirts, bearing in mind that Iorpenda hasn't notched a single senior goal yet, and looks better playing deeper.

I think the thread might need a disclaimer. Us fans will always comment honestly on how we see the team, sections of the team, and individual players....usually from the standpoint of wanting success and the advancement of our club.

But when we have doubts about players, I think we all want to be proven wrong. We want nothing more than players proving themselves and making the critics eat humble pie.

I'd be over moon if, say, Grant and Iorpenda proved themselves to be promotion calibre No. 10s. The club's advancement is pretty much the be all and end all of being a fan. This should go without saying, but may get a bit lost on forums when debates and discussions get going.

I think that as a CM pairing, they don't come much better than Robertson and Palmer who really compliment each other.

It's the AM duo that's gonna cost us. I personally think Grant is the weak link. Sure he's got intelligence and presses well, but it's only good up until he's 20 yards and closer to the goal that he turns to mush.

Hall I think deserves more time to really make the position his own.

I'd like to see Jarvis and Traore there as they both look intelligent and can drift out, but for the love of god don't put Jones back there.

Fwiw, had Luker been here the whole season, we would be smashing the league and probs go up.

Saturday is once again prediction league day - you know what to do! All the matches kick off at 3pm (or 3:03 pm in the case of the Vauxhall Conference, something about having three promotion spots - outrageous cheek) and you get one joker each. Good luck!

  • Wow, great story and great news.

Like a lot of fans, I'd given up on him and just didn't think it would happen for him with us. So much had gone wrong, it seemed ill-fated.

It's testament to his determination then that he came back stronger than ever and he's been outstanding over the last dozen games or so.

And kudos to Montague for recruiting him in Jan '24

We don't have to worry so much about ever losing Matty Palmer either - the baton can be passed on to Robbo. And the way a young, physical midfield of Robbo and Iorpenda looked at Cheltenham is a nice option to have now and a possible glimpse into the years ahead.

Great news to start the weekend, he's been really good since returning to the side. It's great to actually be in a position now where we are renewing contracts before the end of the season too, means we definitely won't lose him on a free as I'm pretty sure League 1 sides would've been interested in him.

I wonder if we in talks with any other players whose contract is up at the end of the season? 🤔 Tsaroulla and Platt will be out of contract next year...

  • Football League World is nothing more than a gossip column, so I don't really put much credence into it's reports.

Personally I think that David made a big mistake leaving Notts, but he did & I think our club has now moved on. Notts have had some really good replacements for him who are scoring goals & are doing just fine.

Hopefully, Notts will strengthen the squad in January with a striker & another attacking midfielder to add to the talent we already have.

I'm sure Didzy will come good again at Barnsley, & I wish him well for the rest of the season.

i dont think we really need him, it would be like going backwards despite the quality he could bring. being amongst the league one divisions most shots, says something that he still has it but maybe he is just struggling to convert challenges. i would rather persist with tyrese hall at this stage, because much like dan crowley we have learned to live without david mcgoldrick now.

Yeah, the he calls for his return have quietened down now he hasn’t scored a goal or provided an assist in the League since August…

If we had an unlimited budget I’d say yes, but I just can’t see how we can justify paying his wages (he’s probably on even more than he was at Notts now) knowing he can’t play every 90 minutes anymore. There’s also an argument that due to how we press more and play more direct he might also be less effective now.

On Saturday Notts take on Harrogate at Meadow Lane, how many links can we find between the two clubs, players, managers, coaches etc.

My starter for 10 is Paul Bolland who played for Notts from 1999 - 2005 making 106 appearances scoring 6 goals he went on loan to Harrogate in 2012-2013.

How many more can we find?

  • Unfortunately I think the return of Macca is a bit of a pipe dream for us, especially as we are still in League 2. Pretty much every club in League 1 would be happy to have him (assuming they can afford him!)

if we signed macca back on loan, he would be the push needed to give this season all the fight we could.

tho i do think peterborough united would be a good chance to revive his career, i just would not expect williams to be there at the end of his loan or permanent move depending on if anything unfolds. i think its a difficult job for williams and a striker wont solve all the problems he has.

I don't think that Macca will ever return to Notts apart from being an interested spectator. I'm actually happy with what we have & Notts now play a little different to accommodate Jatta.

Changing mid season to accommodate Langstaff would be a backward step in my opinion. I think we would be getting a tall strong striker in January to back up Jatta & Dennis.

A massive win for Notts tonight against an inform team. This win takes Notts into a promotion place in League 2 for the first time this season.

Notts had a brilliant first half & could have been double their actual lead at half time. Cheltenham came back into it in the 2nd half but Notts held out for that vital win.

So who is your man of the match for Notts? I have chosen the starting eleven for you to make your choice from.

Those players are,

Roos, Macari, Ness Bedeau, Tsaroulla, Robertson, Iorpenda, Bennetts, Grant, Hall, Jatta.

Am I missing something, why do we need a fan shirt? I don’t understand but apparently they’ve sold over 700 so far so fair play it all helps the club.

What are your thoughts?

Time to dust off the crystal ball again! These all kick off at 3pm on Saturday - don't forget your joker!

Doncaster Rovers v Barnsley
