Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, the PON prediction league is upon us again. So get your tips in by Saturday 2.59Β pm at the latest, don't forget your jokers, and please try not to get more points than me this time :D

Luton Town v West Brom

Wigan v Leeds

Lincoln v Southend

Burton v Rotherham

Exeter v Swindon

Carlisle v Mansfield

Stockport v Eastleigh

Barnet v Chesterfield

The signing of Mr Booty got me thinking. Are there any players out there you wish Notts had signed purely because of their names?

Max Power and Cliff Hercules are two favourites of mine. Any suggestions? :D

Welsh defender ConnellΒ Rawlings formerlyΒ of Port Vale has become Notts county 8th sighing of this transfer windowΒ after his contract was terminated with a year left to go by Port Vale so he could make the switch.Β

Whats everyone’s thoughts?

Is it just me or is it a case that Notts play better away from home? They seem burdened by the weight of expectation at home. They seem to be afraid to try things because of the crowd reaction if they don't work out. Meadow Lane should be a fortress but teams actually like going there because they know the crowd will quickly pounce on Notts if things aren't going well. The opposition feed off that and grow in confidence. Isn't it time for supporters to support the team for 90 mins at home? The fans last night were right behind the team for 90 mins and you saw the result.Β

Welcome to Pon's new member @ExiledPie

Can members help me welcome them to our site, I hope you enjoy the site and join in.

We've been missing a thread for the latest happenings in this wonderful league of ours, so here's one. Add anything vaguely Conference-related here. Might as well make ourselves at home :)

Solihull Moors are top of the table and Wrexham are visiting Meadow Lane on Sunday. Luckily they've got the added distraction of the Scottish Challenge Cup (no, really).

Hilariously, it's now known as the Tunnock's Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup. Are we through the looking glass now?

Any one wanting to get there new home and away kit personalised so I’ve spoke to the club shop and unfortunately there won’t be a delivery of numbers and letters until Friday. They do have a limited number of letters and numbers in stock what they are I’m not sure.

So with Neil Ardley wanting to sign at least three players in the coming weeks what positions do you think we need to strengthen/deepen.?

Game 4 - Sulphurites (A)

Team: Harrogate Town

Date: 13/08/19

Where: Wetherby Road

What line-up should Neal Ardley opt for? What will be the key areas for the Magpies to get a victory? What do you think the final score will be?

  • Really delighted with this result. There are plenty of positives - Sam Osborne starting for the first time, what sounded like a good display by Booty, Enzio scoring with his head (and another lively display from him). And how important are those two penalties going to be for our season? We were under a bit too much pressure for my taste in the second half but we're still taking baby steps.

It's also encouraging that Neal Ardley has switched back to 442. Other formations definitely have their advantages over it, but they have to be worked on during pre-season and we haven't really had the chance to do that. Players generally know what do do in a 442 so that's probably best in our situation.

Big kudos for the away following, 700 is what I heard, not shabby at all. If any of you are lurking, how did you find it?

Neil Ardley give us his pre match a we prepared to take on Barnet at meadow lane on SaturdayΒ Including injury update on Nathan Tyson and Christian Dennis could start on Saturday.

At last the takeover is sorted and a new era can begin! This week I've gone from being optimistic, to utter despair and a real fear that there would be no Notts next season, to this unexpected twist. We don't know the full story of it yet, but I suspect that AH was playing a game of brinkmanship to get the highest price possible, with our club's future and people's livelihoods on the line. I don't think it's a coincidence that this "cut-price deal" came the very day after the Haydn Green estate announced they were considering forcing the club into administration...

But now we can move on. That means paying the bills and wages, signing a stack of players and hoping that Ardley and Cox can form them into a team. I don't know about you lot but I'm on a high right now and I'm hoping that the players can take that and a new sense of togetherness into the season. But if it's a bumpy ride we need to keep the faith, as this summer has hardly been ideal for preparing for a new league. As for the new owners, I hope they're patient, competentΒ΄and knowledgeable (oh, and stinking rich). They've chosen to announce the takeover through the official channel rather than giving a blow-by-blow account on Twitter, so that's a nice change already.

I'd be happy if we can stabilise on and off the pitch this season first of all. Ultimately I'm delighted that Notts County will still be taking to the Meadow Lane pitch next season after the last few months. But maybe there's more in it too. Let's pull together and see what's possible. Bring on the new season!

And here they are. Thoughts?

Β

The home shirt isn't stripey enough for my liking - the big white patch on the front makes it look like the Cornwall flag (look it up!). It'll be sponsored by Utilita during August, then we'll see. Maybe it'll look better with a sponsor on. But I do like the black shorts / white socks combination, that should take us back to happier times :)

That away shirt is mint though! I don't know why but I've always fancied seeing us in green away from home. It's a nice change from blue and a whole lot classier.

Β

Notts county have advised fans still to collect there season ticketsΒ to do so as far ahead of time as they can before tomorrow’s kick off against Stockport.Β

I don’t know if people will agree or not but the mood is definitelyΒ more positive the passion and love has definitely returned for notts .. it’s safe to say we have a hard season ahead of us but right nowΒ it just feels like we can take on the world and win.Β

Game 3 - The Bees (H)

Team: Barnet

  • Both teams started quite well, I felt Notts was the better side for about 35 minutes and the lack of a clinical striker up top was very apparent.

I keep being told Notts requires a tall striker, which I agree with but against Barnet it wouldn'tΒ have changed much. Notts needs to learn to be more direct, there's a lot more pace in this season's squad, but they'reΒ very ineffective with using it correctly.

The issue is, we felt bombarding Barnet would have lead with a second goal for us.

However, it left us wide open and defensively, it's just not there at the moment. Once Notts concedes, confidence is lost throughout the team and I felt the play after this point became extremely wasteful. In recent weeks, I have felt Mitch Rose has been our best player but he underperformedΒ massively. Enzio Boldewijn is an absolute luxury, did he play well? No, voted as the Man of the Match for simply scoring a wonderful effort.

Ben Turner did well at the back, yet the mistake for me was dropping Pierce Bird, who has been quite solid I feel in recent games.

The inexperience of Sam Graham, and I'm sorry to point this out really made it easier for Barnet. The factΒ to the side of him,Β Dion Kelly-Evans struggled not only with Barnet's height but also their pace. Both of these played well in the first half, yet quickly became the point of threat via The Bee's attack.

I would be tempted to use Kristian Dennis has a bargaining chip, his stature and persistentΒ injuries make it hard for me to see how he can be successful in this league.

He tried, however, he didn'tΒ look effective at all and I realise he's the only natural goal scorerΒ on our books who seems capableΒ of scoring 15-20 goals - whilst I would love this to happen in Notts colours too, I just don'tΒ see it happening now that I have seen him against established National League sides. Honestly, I feel if the club can target signing a target man/someone who can hold the ball up - swapping Dennis for a taller and more suitable striker might make the world of a difference.

The confidence and pace of this Notts squad will have teams worried, we'll be hard to play, but the goals conceded won't disappear until we learn to sit on the play and attack games properly.

I thought Barnet played very well, they made the most of their chances and you can see the difference between them and us. They have an established squad who play for each other, ours are still getting used to it. I am only disappointed about throwing the lead away.

So Notts host Barnet at meadow lane on Saturday live on by sport who’s heading to the lane to cheers on the lads.?Β

So Notts welcome BarnetΒ to meadow lane on Saturday what’s the score going to be what’s your guess.?

Hello everyone,

I am RoadSmith, a combination of my job and last name.

I have been a Notts supporter since 1977, born and bred into the club through my family that consists now of 5 generations. I have been an active member of the PON group and Facebook page for a number of years, but I thought I would take the plunge and register on the site.

So it it’s emerged on transfer news LIVE that Scottish side St Johnston are eyeing up a possible bid for our very own Kane Hemmings.Β who has experience of playing in Scotland first with Rangers and then Dundee.Β 3F75C44C-054B-44F4-9466-3644759F2D7F.png

Good eveningΒ Magpies supporters,

I'm a football supporter from Melbourne, Australia. I support Leicester City (not a glory hunter, supported them when we were dead last in the league late in our great escape season), and I'm contemplating supporting Notts County. I support the Collingwood Football Club (AFL - Aussie Rules Football) and they wear the black & white stripes, nicknamed the magpies. I've noticed Notts wear blue/white for their away kit and have a hate for Forest (as all Leicester supporters do).

I'm not fussed about the club currently heading into the season in the national league off the back of relegation from league football, but I would like to be a part of a club in the lower tiers of the football pyramid in English football. Reading all of this above, while still supporting my beloved Leicester City, does any of this make sense and would it still be ethically reasonable to support Notts?

Any insight/feedback is well appreciated. Cheers!

nice to have you here on pon @ISupportTheNotts. welcome.

Guys and girls can you help me welcome @Magpie callumΒ to the pon community.
