Well black gold in the form of Saudi oil that is!

Looks like all the papers are signed and the deposit has been paid. Contracts are now legally binding and the only thing left is the Owners test with the FA and we all know how well that works!

Their is a big human rights conversation to be had around this take over, but, in fairness to the Geordies, money talks. They've wanted Ashley gone for a long time and it'll be good to see St James Park rid of all the sodding Sports Direct Banners!

Good Luck to them. Politics aside, superb move for them.

The human rights conversation will be had though!

On this day 8 years ago I was standing in the away end at Brentford watching Notts play out a 0-0 draw. Notts were right in the mix for a playoff spot in League 1. A week later a 4-2 home loss to Bury proved to be the decisive result as Notts missed out on the playoffs on goal difference. Stevenage beat us to the last playoff spot. Fast forward to today, Brentford are pushing for promotion to the PL, Notts are in the Conference, Bury went bust and Stevenage are last in League 2. A lot can happen in 8 years!

Welcome to the community @Bennybigbear, how long have you followed Notts?

Right now, the thought of travelling will be far from anyone's mind.

I do wonder, with people seeming to need to isolate themselves and to pass some time discussing things.

I do wonder what your favourite holiday destination is?

He's on the move again.... Grantham Town....

Alright,

Long time reader, first time poster. I am a huge South Park and County fan, also admire the Scottish brute Jimbo. ????

The sequel has arrived. Same rules as last time, just answer with the square you think the ball is in. *The colour of the text is meaningless, it's just so the names of the squares show up

I'll post the real picture with the answer on Thursday evening...

@liampie came up with a wonderful suggestion, in the weekly round up, which was to see if all of us on PON had any common interests, apart from Notts. Also if there is any new interests while we have been stuck in our houses all day.

My interests have not changed much while I have been in the house for nearly 4 weeks now. I have been baking a lot more now I have not got much to do. So far, I have made scones, cakes (one of them being coffee), brownies, pizza rolls with my brother, jam tarts and some cinnamon sugar crisp things.

I have done a couple of girly things like trying out new hairstyles and painting my nails.

One thing I have taken a keen interest in is art. I did take it it for GCSE but sadly failed it, I really lost interest in it because it was taking over my whole GCSE experience and I did not like my teacher (I am sure @ARLukomski will understand). But now because I have the time again I have been doing it. This is cheating but I brought a Harry Potter colouring book and some crayons, as I do find it therapeutic and it relaxes me, especially if I am having a down day.

Before the lock down got put into place I managed to finish my Harry Potter book collection, so I am going to try and get my way through those, as I do like reading, especially when I am struggling to fall asleep. Been streaming a lot more films and TV shows on Disney+ plus, just fancy reliving my childhood. I have been watching a lot more YouTube and catching up on videos that I missed while I was working. I've hardly been on Amazon prime or Netflix, normally this are the top two streaming sites that I am on.

How have you interests changed, if at all?

For any of you really needing your Notts fix, the media team are showing entire "live" matches regularly on Facebook and YouTube. Spoiler: we tend to win! :D

The schedule is here:

https://www.nottscountyfc.co.uk/news/2020/march/full-match-replay-schedule-310320/

I watched a video earlier on YouTube, it detailed how the WWE had released a lot of its talent and, backroom staff due to the issues caused by the Coronavirus.

Whilst in the long run, I think it will benefit them and perhaps AEW/TNA.

Right now, many businesses are taking the blow and, its putting people unfortunately out of work. I know some won't feel bad for a wrestler because of the money involved, yet some of these people have genuine injuries for doing the thing that they love. It's quite a bitter pill to swallow and, I think it will start causing issues with many other areas of entertainment.

Those who are self-employed especially.

I was just having a chat with Jimmy Redfern with works at Notts as a data analysis.

He mentioned to me that he supports Derby County, which led to this idea. Everyone on here will know that @super_ram does too. He grew up in Alfreton and, his uncle took him to his first football match (which was the Rams).

What connections to football do you have within your family?

Most of mine are Notts fans.

I have one uncle who I absolutely hate and, haven't seen for many years who supports Mansfield.

Aside from that I don't really know of any family members who supports a team outside of Notts. What about you?

I know a few members are married to Forest fans. ;)

How many words can you make from ENCYCLOPEDIA? Keep it swear free please ;)

Cycle

Think hard about this one because I know there's a lot to choose from.

For me it has to be Ebbsfleet away in the cup earlier this season. Coach journey there and back plus a 93rd minute winner to top it off. Had a game of pointless on one of the machines in the pub with @Alexlevy0908

Growing up, I have seen Phil Turner lead the Magpies' - along with Ian Richardson, Neal Bishop to the current day under Michael Doyle.

I'm curious which player has been the most Influential?

What player made you take account of their ability, drive and leadership to the point you feel they're a representation of the football club itself. Which players throughout Notts County's history made you feel proud to be a fan of this fantastic club?

Mine is Phil Turner, all the good early memories I have is of him as a true inspiration to the side he played alongside.

What about you?

So what will we do with the 19-20 season, then? 20 members have voted

  1. 1. How do you want to end the 19-20 season?

    • Wait till the summer, cross our fingers and try to complete the fixtures then

    • Void it - finishing the season isn't realistic

    • Complete the season as it is - automatic promotion awarded, but no relegation

    • Pick up the season again next February; until then, schedule special championships as soon as football is unbanned

And still we haven't got a decision on what is going to happen to the 2019-20 season. In a way it's understandable, but the National League in particular is under a lot of pressure - in two weeks, all clubs bar Notts and Yeovil are going to be releasing players who are out of contract.

We'd all like The Difficulties to just go away so we can look forward to a summer of football. While that would be neatest, any relaxation of lockdown would happen in stages and the powers that be would be reluctant for large crowds to assemble in football grounds.

Then there's voiding the season and starting again in the autumn. While it would be soul-destroying for the clubs chasing promotion in particular, at least this solution is clean and even-handed. An alternative would be to hand promotion to all teams in the automatic promotion spots and not to relegate anyone, so we'd end up with 22 teams in the Premier League and League Two. This way the season hasn't all been for nothing, but it's also unfair as some teams will have had easier fixtures than others.

The elephant in the room is the very real possibility that we can't just restart in the autumn, or that cases rise again and stadiums have to be closed again in the winter. This would put next season in danger too, which would be a killer blow for many clubs. So the final solution is one I read online - we play this season through to the end, BUT we restart it in February 2021, including all cup competitions and play-offs, exactly a year after we left off. Until then, we schedule special COVID-19 leagues, which could be regional, as soon as it is safe and feasible to do so. This way it's fair, and the hard work put into the season hasn't gone to waste. The problem is financial: the lack of a guaranteed income, and the implications for players' contracts.

What do you all think?

This could be easy, hard or just completely good fun.

I would like everyone to name 5 music albums that sharped their taste in music. A similar idea has been floating around social media, I have started writing about 12 albums that have shaped/impacted or inspired me. Now, I want you to name 5.

@liampie @CliftonMagpie @ARLukomski @meg_walshx @KB1862 @cheeky~k8 @super_ram @Super_Danny_Allsopp @Alex @hissingdwarf @upthepies @Piethagoram @Dripsey3 @Rio Doherty @menzinho @magpiejue

I've tagged 16 members of PON who I am curious about learning more about their musical taste. ????????????

https://writeupkb.wordpress.com/2020/03/08/football-manager-2020-the-journey-so-far/

Would like to hear others that also play it

just seen this on twitter.

i know @Chris does not like to self broadcast himself but i think its worth sharing on the forum. it looks amazing!

check out his graphic thread where he mentioned he would make things for members.

well done mate.

How do you feel Notts will respond to returning to football?

Do you think they will come back stronger, or suffer a setback due to the long absence between games?

I think Notts will be keen to kick on myself, if the league ends as it stands. I think they will respond brightly and want to win the league, Neal Ardley might play this down but I think the club would be quietly confident.

Hello @Iateallthepies, welcome to the Pride of Nottingham. I'm sorry, I only just noticed that you have joined but I still would like to give you a warm welcome.

I hope you enjoy being a part of our Notts County community.

You Pies!

Off the top of your head, without searching, how Notts players with different names but same initials can you mention?
