  5. I saw something on Facebook about our gaffer @notts-joe being on Matchtalk last night so I came on here hoping for more details but I can't find anything. How did it go Joe? I hope it's available on catch up when I get home

  6. Notts at heart, through and through. Very sad news, R.I.P John Mounteney

  8. Hey Folks,

I'm currently adventuring in Photoshop, I've decided to have a go at wallpapers. Before the end of the season this was very popular, so if you would like one making please leave a request below.

Handset and it's resolution is important to know.

    Cheers!

  9. I intended to make a post last Saturday, but  forget, about which manager would be the first to go.I didn't expect a dismissal/resignation? so soon.Huddersfield parted company with Mark Robbins after their 4 - 0 home defeat by Bournemouth. So who will be next?

  10. Well just over one week to go until the season starts all over again. It seems only last week we were celebrating on that incredible day at Oldham. Though the scenes of that day will never be forgotten by the 3,500+ of us who were there that day, I'm sure we're all hoping we don't get put through the mire quite like that on the final day at Gillingham this season!

Anyway, with the start of the new league season comes the new prediction league! @notts-joe will be hoping to defend his title and I'll be after revenge after bottling it on the final day!

It'll have basically the same format as last season. There will be a round for all 46 league games, and I'm looking to do a seperate knockout type competition for the FA Cup, but more on that nearer the time of round 1.

    How it works

For a Saturday round, the fixtures will be posted on a Thursday night, giving players a couple of days to post their predictions. All matches included will be 3pm kick offs unless it's a bank holiday, and the deadline for predictions will be kick off time - 3pm.

For Tuesday night rounds, the fixtures will be posted Sunday night.

All's you have to do is simply post your score predictions in the thread.

    Points system
Same as last season, but I'll go through it again:

    correct score: 3 points

    correct result: 1 point

    wrong result: no points

    Example:

My prediction: Notts County 2-1 Ossasuna

Game ends 2-1 to Notts - 3 points

Notts win, but not by a score of 2-1 - 1 point

Notts lose or draw - 0 points

I usually update the scores and league table on a Saturday night although there will be the odd occasion where I don't get back from an away game, either with Weymouth or Notts, till quite late, but I'll give you a heads up.

Other than that there's not much else to say. Just wanted to post to remind everyone that it will be happening again, and I encourage everybody to give it a crack. It's good fun and we have a lot of banter together :)

Hopefully we have even more people involved this season. You don't need to be particularly good at predicting results to take part (isn't that right @tonyhateley? sorry mate ;) ) it's just good fun :)

Opening day round will go up here on Thursday

  11. One of my Friends Posted this on FB, Makes me Bloody Sick to the Stomach.

Our matchday tickets (Ottawa Fury)  are fairly affordable compared to Hockey and CFL (Canadian Footbal League ((Better then the NFL))  in the city and other sports around the country... ($23)  well here's a story from England lol

    http://www.thesportbible.com/articles/you-re-charging-how-much

In a world where you can watch every Bayern Munich home game of the season for £105, West Ham want fans to pay up to £77 for a ticket to their Premier League opener against Spurs on Saturday.

We repeat: £77 to watch a Sam Allardyce team play football. We say play football, we mean watch their defence take turns thwacking the ball towards Enner Valencia while Andy Carroll necks Jaegerbombs on the bench and Kevin Nolan kicks anyone that has the audacity of coming within six yards of him.

    A bargain, we're sure you'll agree.

The East London club have classified their opening day derby against Spurs as a Category A fixture, with the cheapest available tickets costing £50 for members and £55 for non-members. For anyone thinking of taking their kids, we recommend staying clear of the Band A seats, as junior tickets in those areas will set you back £41.

This weekend marks the beginning of the penultimate season the Hammers will spend in the Boleyn Ground and their fans will be hoping that it's an improvement on last year's home form, when Sam Allardyce's '19th century football' heralded only seven victories in 19 games and a miserly 25 goals.

    Hammers fans have taken to Twitter to vent their disgust at the ticket prices;

Adrian Leahy (@adieleahy): '@davidgold if you really are serious about making football affordable how come you keep raising the prices ? More & more fans priced out !'

Danny Smith (@DannyyySmith): 'How can west ham charge £70 to the game against spurs ? Wouldn't mind but we don't even play football! HOOOFBALL!! @davidgold.'

Andrew (@{griffina71): 'I took my son to watch Dortmund last year return flight and ticket cost £6 less !!!!'

At the opposite end of the spectrum,Hull City, who finished only three points shy of West Ham last season, will charge only £16 for adults and £5 for under 15's when Stoke City visit the KC Stadium on August 24th.

The extortionate prices aren't limited to West Ham's matchday tickets, either, as their cheapest season tickets come in at £620, more expensive than the cheapest ones at Manchester United and London rivals Chelsea. At the other end of the scale, their most expensive season ticket comes in at a staggering £910, which works out at just shy of £50 a game.

Following the announcement on the ticket prices, it's understood this was Big Sam's reaction . . .

  17. This seemed to totally skip my radar, although there's something behind the appoint but what?

Notts County have appointed Mick Halsall as their new Head of Academy Coaching.

The 53-year-old held a similar role at Walsall where he guided players such as Scott Dann, Troy Deeney and Matty Fryatt into the first team.

    In other news,

Notts County can confirm that Academy Manager Mick Leonard has been suspended pending an investigation.

The club would like to stress that there is no disciplinary action being taken against Mick Leonard at present.

Now does this mean we've replaced one Mick for the other and given him a totally new title? "Head of Academy Coaching" or does that means he's the head of the coaching staff because I thought a Manager would be.

Really wonder what's gone off here.

  18. This Saturday's fixtures:
    Brentford v Charlton Athletic

    Wigan Athletic v Reading

    Barnsley v Crawley Town

    Rochdale v Peterborough United

    Cambridge United v Plymouth Argyle

    Carlisle United v Luton Town

Come on then, let's have loads of entries!

  19. We are off on our travels again and spending 10 days in Northumberland, it amuses me that everyone round these parts sounds like Vera from the ITV series of the same name.

For @super_ram: I've sussed out a couple of real ale pubs and enjoyed a pint of Golden Sheep from Black Sheep Brewery and New World from Pedigree, the latter was very nice a real strong hoppy flavour.

  20. As some of you may know I run a forum for motorhome enthusiasts with members from all over the country and the world, it's not very often we get to discussing football but I was surprised to see this thread on my forum:

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------

Have we found the most remote Notts County fan in the country?

He was on duty at Breaicleit Community Museum, on Great Bernera which is an island connected by a bridge to the west coast of Lewis. Real "edge of the world" country! Seems he moved up here about 7 years ago.

We've also spotted two Hylos in Lewis, one belonging to the landlord of the Loch Erisort Inn where we've just indulged in some truly succulent langoustines! He's from Yorkshire!

Only got the tablets with us and intermittent 3g, so we'll have to wait until we get home to post pics.

Ferry to Skye tomorrow morning, a couple of nights there then home ... probably!

    ----------------------------------------------------------

It just goes to show that you never know where you are going to bump into a Notts fan.

What unexpected place have you bumped into a Notts fan? Let's hear your stories.

  21. As you can see from my user name I'm a bradford city fan, a long time loyal season ticket holder.

I visited your site to read your comments on jones & thompson as well as a bit of info on Sheehan & Liddell.

In your transfer forum thread on thompson a few said you hadn't heard of him & I can not find anything on jones so I thought I'd give you my personal opinion on the two.

    Gary jones:

he was only with us for 2 years however never has club legendary status being created in such a short period of time. He was our captain & played like a captain every single time put the shirt on. 100% effort is guaranteed & he is a leader who will get the other lads fired up & bollock them when required. He did very well for us in his first season twice leading us out at wembley & he was a big reason why we got there both times.

Now the negative, unfortunately like the rest of us mother time does catch up on us & in the second season a combination of age & a step up in division & the fact he was partnered with another immobile player, made him look slow & was regularly beaten to the ball & left for dead in the Centre of the park. It was sad to watch really from someone who we all idolised he was always a consummate professional, trained hard, kept his self is shape & always gave his all. I don't think it helped that he was required to play nearly every game for us, he would have been better used more sparingly.

I personally would have liked him to be given another 1 year contract here as a player coach, not start as much but used as a sub, someone with experience who comes on at 70 mins to see the game out, couple that with a player coach role as I think he has the attributes to be a good coach & would offer a lot of experience in that department but obviously our manager didn't see it that way, he was realised & many were very unhappy with this on the forums etc.

    Garry thompson:

Joined us around the same sort of time as jones did, played on the wing & can be quite a technically good player, he can pass he is decent in the air ok at crossing & has got a goal or two in him. In his first season with us 12/13 he did well, scored a decent number of goals (2 very important) & played a big part in us getting to wembley twice. He scored the goal vs arsenal that helped us knock them out then in the play offs 1st leg at home we were 1-3 down to burton with the tie seemingly slipping away from us he then scored a wonder goal (a bit of bad keeping involved too) which kept the tie alive ready for the away leg which we obviously went on to win.

Negatives, like jones he is knocking on a bit & for a winger he is slow, you can see he is knackeared & huffing & puffing after his first meaningful sprint, again the combination of age & step up in division meant he was never going to replicate his first seasons contribution & he was largely ineffective last season. This was clear for everyone to see but he kept being selected to start games & some fans did get on his back a little bit. At times he was used as a target man upfront but again he never really did much for us up there.

Like jones he was out of contract this summer & I think it was probably the correct decision to let him go. Upon learning he had got a contract with yourselves a lot of our fans were surprised he had got a league 1 club, I think maybe he would have done better to see out his days in league 2.

Anyway as with all of our history making 2012/13 squad who have moved on I genuinely hope these two do really well for you (except vs us) & wish them both the very best. Don't be surprised if when you come up to bradford you see the best of welcome back receptions you have ever seen for these two from the bradford faithful.

In return for this thread can you give me a bit of unbiased info on the two that have gone the other way?

    Thanks in advance.

  22. Okay, this is more a 'preview' video. We aim to make them much better as we go along, right now I am simply recording him and he tells what the plan is. He's very excited about doing this and although I realize Youtube's got a lot of idiots, I don't want to discourage his creativity.

I will be working very closely with him and monitoring it (as any parent should).
