I met a young lad at Rayo, he came and sat next to me and he seemed very shy so I started talking to him. I noticed he was holding his autograph book, it reminded me of myself when I was younger. I asked him who's signatures he was after and said that I would call them across if I can. He smiled and said that would be great!

I actually helped him and before I knew it he was helping me, he seemed to grow in confidence.

Today I spoke to him and we had a laugh, he took on the kindness I shown him and helped several young magpies around us to get their own signatures. It was great seeing a young fan wanting to help others like this, so I asked if I could take a photo of him with his shirt and said I would upload it to PoN's wall if that was okay with him and his dad. He told me it was fine and so I did this but he didn't stop caring about helping others, I though it was refreshing and the type of young support our clubs needs.

The Media Team have made me even happier, although I hope they can try to track him down. I asked them on twitter "This lad is a credit to the club and it's great to *see* a fan happy. Make his day and try to contact him." - following with "'I'm sure you could feature him in the mag and help him meet liddle. He helped many young shy fans today, great lad." and they've responded by saying "Would happy to if you want to our pass our details on.".

This is why I love Notts County because the genuine people you meet are very inspiring and humble, I hope they can find him and fair play to the Media Team and Club. I'm sure @super_ram will agree, this lad deserves it.

I said I would never do this but today I have subscribed to Sky Sports.

We have BT for our phone, Broadband and TV, so I noticed on BT Vision you can order Sky Sports for a month, no yearly subscription, just pay for a month then cancel. So I bit the bullet (much as I hate give money to Rupert Murdoch) and ordered it for a month so I can watch Sheff Utd v Notts. next Friday. Yes I know I should go but I'm not really keen on travelling away especially for a night match.

Anyway it was £15 for the month and I reckon that is a lot cheaper than travelling to Sheffield buying a ticket and paying for diesel for the car. The other option was to go to a pub somewhere but again I don't really fancy that I can never concentrate on the match and the sound is invariably turned down or it is so noisy you can't hear the commentary. This way I can enjoy the match with a few glasses of homebrew and a curry in the comfort of my own armchair.

So that's it I have confessed, apologies to my former print union colleagues, I feel I have let you down but I will cancel after a month honest and I will NEVER EVER buy the Sun.

I have had two notifications today that I was mentioned I'm someone's tweet, one was a tweet by PoN. When I looked at the tweets it was a list of names with #FF in front. What does it mean? Do I have to reply or anything. Please help.

Yours concerned of Nottingham (twitter Dinosaur)

I see Preston have given Kevin Davies a two year contract at 36 years old.

I think he could be very useful in this league but is a two year contract a bit much? Would you have signed him for Notts?

Just for a bit of a laugh me and my Mum have been having a look at famous people who share birthdays with family members:

I share mine with a certain Pele and Martin Luther King. Incidently if I had been born two days earlier I would have shared mine with Paul Ince! Lucky escape lol

My mum shares hers with Tim Berners Lee (creator of the WWW) among others; my Dad with Chris Gayle (captain of the West Indian Cricket team) and Liam Gallagher; my Grandad with Prince Phillip and Carlo Ancelotti; my best friend with Elton John; it goes on and on.

Then we looked at my uncle Darran, and I wouldnt call the first name that popped up famous. More infamous. My uncle shares his birthday, with Benito Mussolini :hyper:

Actually a right good laugh looking up this sort of stuff. Anybody on here share their birthdays with anyone famous? :)

Apparently we had 60 people on line on July 15th, wish some of them had put a few posts on.

I somehow injured my back at the weekend putting on my socks would you believe? An excruciating pain shot up my leg into my back, Mrs. Hateley thought I was having a heart attack.

I have been taking pain killers since then and have hardly moved from the sofa, it's starting to get me down now, how ridiculous one minute I'm as fit as a fiddle the next I'm laid on my back unable to move. I think its just a matter of resting up until it decides I've had enough torture and gets better, I'm sure if I went to the docs he would say I was doing the right thing, pain killers and rest.

The most disappointing thing is I won't be able to go to the game tonight, even if I managed to get in the car to drive there I wouldn't be able to sit in one position for 90 minutes. So cheer the lads on for me, I'll try and keep up with the score somehow, is is on magpieplayer?

So any hopes of making it out of the Europa League stage has now been dashed, although an impressive performance by the lads against Galatasaray means we have a share of optimism ahead for the new season. I hope to see scenes like against them, fans cheering and singing the lads on and of course the clapping. Very encouraging!

Rayo aren't a side to be dismissed easily, although some might not be fimilar with some of their squad players. They do have a couple of power-houses who can punish us from long range or close.

Not really bothered about the outcome, not for this one. I hope they have some traveling fans tho!

Think we can win, though a good performance would be the icing on the cake.

I've seen things like this before, although never this good. Quality deserves to be shown and shared - So I decided to share this on facebook. I'll sharing on Twitter briefly.

Notts have signed David Bell today, he's a creative midfielder who started off in the lower leagues to end up playing much higher. I know a little about from his time with the Foxes and Coventry, hope we judge him on the pitch though.

Notts County Football Club is delighted to announce the recruitment of creative wideman David Bell.

This follows the mutual termination of his contract with former club Coventry City, where the midfielder has spent the past three-and-a-half years, after signing for an undisclosed fee from Norwich City.

During that time, Bell made 98 appearances in a Sky Blues jersey and scored six goals, including a halfway line strike against Doncaster Rovers that won the 2008.09 Goal of the Season.

The 29-year-old incidentally played his last game for Coventry against Notts in an entertaining 2-2 draw at Meadow Lane on the final day of the 2012.13 campaign.

On that day, Bell was a constant threat to the Magpies’ backline and hit the post with an effort in front of the Family Stand.

This probably won't interest anyone other than @super_ram http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-nottinghamshire-23225105

It will be great to have a pint of good old Shippo's, it was a bit like marmite you either love it or hate it. For my part I loved it but it had to be kept right by a good landlord otherwise it was rank.

Anyone else remember Shippo's it was brewed at Basford and bit the dust in the 70's I think.

Welcome back old friend. :happy banana:

The UK seems to have some real betting addictions, although Football doesn't seem to mind. I recall the fuss about Liverpool being sponsored by Carlsberg - as similar with other clubs like Blackburn who I believe dropped McEwans lager (if I didn't dream that). Now the betting world is quickly taking over, which is just odd from my point of view.

Everywhere is now advertising gambling sites, Sky Bet's purchased the rights to the Football League.

We now play in Sky Bet's League One!!

Is it just me or do you agree that the governing bodies should have more sense. I'm very aware that it's due to £££ but it's probably one of the worst names they could have dealt with.

Banking is different in my opinion, nobodies in danger of saving cash these days. People flocking in their drones to open savings accounts! "Hello Mr Banker, I'd like to trust you with my life savings".

Oh well, I just edited the old league image. I'm not quite keen on it's replacement tho (obvious huh?).

i like watching basketball but i dont really care for others. football is just my main sport.

what about you?

I was up early today, out the house not long after and I was quite excited about the day ahead. It was all for the 'to Derby and back for Jimmy and Jack' event which I had agreed to help out by marshalling. It's been a great experience for me, I have photos and also help from others involved who are going to send me/allow me to use theirs.

Also, I've been inspired to write a little more (don't quote me but I really have tried).

The event was fun, I wished I could have taken part but I sound like a broken record with that, though I really mean it. It was fantastic to see ex players, staff and fans all joint in raising funds for two our legends.

@tonyhateley I sat admiring the view I had, I was one of the furthest away and stationed near a place called nooning lane. My photo doesn't give it justice but it was a very nice area!

I've uploaded the photos from all the football grounds I visited in Northern Ireland. As I said, I visited 8 but only managed to get into 5.

Here's the first album, from The Ballymena Showgrounds - home to Ballymena United. Feel free to flick through :)

Second is the Showgrounds, home of Coleraine FC:

Next is Seaview - Crusaders FC. Interestingly this ground has the only artificial pitch in the whole of Northern Ireland:

The Oval - Glentoran FC. I REALLY liked this ground in particular due to the views from the ground. From almost anywhere you can see Belfast City centre and Belfast Harbour, the Harland & Wolf cranes, but the wonderfull green hills beyond it. Even in a buisy city you never feel far from Northern Ireland's fantastic scenery :)

And finally, Windsor Park. Home to Linfield and the Northern Irish national team. Linfield are Britian's most successfull football club with an incredible 227 first class trophies won in their history! I really liked this ground as well. I do prefer the older, more old fashioned grounds to the new souless, passionless bowls popping up everywhere. You could sense the history and tradition about the place.

I'm quite encouraged by this signing, he looks very keen. I can't comment about the type of player he is, although a Villa friend said he was disappointed with them allowing him to leave (especially since he felt clubs would have paid for him). I guess it's easier for Villa to release, than to keep players on whilst looking to sell.

I wrote a short write up about it (please help share it)

A couple like this, then some key players around. Under the guidance of Chris and Mick, well I don't see this being a bad thing.

6 months will be a good enough length to see what he has to offer.

I know not all will be excited or keen on this, although It's been received quite well and we need to replicate what Walsall and Yeovil have been doing. If we can, we might be able to develop a strong squad, based on promise.

Sad to say it looks like Bishop is off to pastures new, according to Chippers on twitter.

My favourite current player. :-(

Welcome to Pride of Nottingham @MikeCurtis12!

Hope you enjoy the site and we all look forward to your visits.

A big welcome to our latest new member Rodwell. Is your first name Jim by any chance?

I hope you enjoy interacting with our friendly community please come and say hello, we'd love to hear from you.

Evening all, thought I'd just drop by to say hello :)

We landed in Belfast at about half 8 last night, ten minutes ahead of schedule which was nice. By the time we got to our friends place in Ballymoney it was gone 10pm so we just had a drink and a chat and went to bed.

Today I went for a look at Ballymoney United's ground. I did get a look at it but because its owned by the council the gates were all locked up meaning I couldnt get in to take any photos. I'm hoping to go back later in the week to see if we can get in.

From there we went to Coleraine. Luckily one gate was open as the groundsman was cutting the grass, so I was able to get some photos of their ground which I will try to post on here when I get home if i can work out how to! The ground itself was very nice. Theres a seated main stand on one side with an uncovered bank terrace opposite, and two fairly well sized covered terraces behind each goal.

This evening we also visited the giants causeway. We've been there 3 or 4 times before but it nevers fails to amaze you. Its an amazing thing, and it just shows you what nature can do (no, not the giant lol).

Hope your all well and everythings fine back home.

We're off to Belfast tommorow to visit the Titanic museum and hopefully a few of the Belfast based football clubs. I'll let you know if and where we manage to visit tommorow.

Take care everyone :)

JJK vs Notts County.

There's been quite a few positives comments, especially surrounding two trialists. If we win tomorrow, our tour of Finland would be an hat-trick and a very successful tour. The weather, bonding and confidence gained cannot be knocked! Just picture your work place having a staff trip, even if it was only to the end of the road you'd most likely be happy to get out of your normal surroundings! Obviously, I realize Finland is quite some distance. ;)

I've enjoyed reading up on it!

Can't wait to the real tests though! Very excited about them.

Has anyone got any rumours to share? I read something on the PoN facebook page about some possible impending signings, Bradley Wright Philips and Barnes Homer.

I personally can't see us affording Wright Phillips wage demands but not sure about Barnes Homer isn't he in Finland with the squad at the moment or am I getting totally confused with all these different names being bandied about.

Notts County are delighted to announce that the club have signed a new three-year deal with BBC Radio

Nottingham to broadcast all home and away fixtures, starting from the forthcoming season...
The deal extends a long-running partnership between the club and BBC Radio Nottingham and means that Magpie Player subscribers will be able to listen live to every game for the next three seasons live.

Head of Media Jamie Dixon told the Official Site: “We are thrilled to keep the long standing partnership with BBC Radio Nottingham going.

No surprise and nothing exactly major or new, still it's pleasant to see. There's many games going to other types of stations these days, so with that in mind.. I am glad to read this :)

Thoughts

I tuned into Arquin's match. If there's interest, I will share streams and it's actually possible to embed the videos here (just like youtube) so we could open the chatroom, use the 'Popout' function and enjoy the game together. I'd also be open to trying as Liam suggested, making it available to guests.

Arquin didn't do too bad, he tried and had a couple of changes.

Boucaud was unused I hear, I did check but I had forgotten about the game and after I only noticed they won 1-0.

It's quite exciting to see we've got internationals, I can't wait to root for Tempest. (I speak with too many Americans btw, hence sometimes you can read a visible change in my online accent) LOL
