Notts County have forged links with The Mercure Hotel in Nottingham, the Hotel formerly the George was were discussions first took place which resulted in the formation of the club.

The George also holds fond memories for me as when I was an apprentice in the Printing Trade many moons ago our firm always used to have their Christmas Dinner and Dance there.

Have money on this game so thought I'd listen via MP as I do from time to time with other teams, sounds like an utterly toxic atmosphere, but Coco and Gudjon are nowhere in sight!

LBG

Today was the last induction day for my new job, and sadly I didn't finish it till half 4. Weymouth were at home and the ground is barely 5 minutes away from the offices where I did the induction, so this afternoon killed me, not being able to go.

Finally, I finished at half 4 and ran down to the ground. My mate had been texting me updates. We had dominated the first half but failed to score, and typically, the visitors - Bognor Regis Town had scored two quickfire goals midway through the second half. I didn't expect to see much but nevertheless I went in to watch the final 10 minutes.

Upon entering the stadium, I heard the Bognor fans singing away to my right, while the Weymouth fans were voicing their frustrations. Many were heading for the exits.

As I walked round the corner heading towars my spot behind the goal, I heard a cry of "go on!" - I looked up just to see the ball rolling into an unguarded net. Stewart Yetton had stolen it from Bognor's keeper and pulled us back into it.

I had just got to my spot when the ball was when on the edge of the area. The ball broke for Ben Joyce to fire past a dispearing keeper into the bottom corner to equalise for Weymouth. Out of nothing, we had pulled it out of the fire.

It ended 2-2, and we had sparred our blushes. We earned an FA Cup 2nd qualifying round replay with a side from two leagues below us. Sure, before the game a replay would have been a dissapointment but given the circumstances, it felt like a win!

I saw ten minutes but saw the best part! Someone had to save the day I guess ;)

Have to say I didn't feel sorry for those who I saw leaving as I went in though. Just goes to show - stick by your team till the bitter end, never lose faith. You never know what might happen!

UP THE TERRAS :D

According to Chippers on twitter.

It may only be the FA Cup 2nd qualifying round but St Neots Town's Rene Steer came up with an early contender for goal of the season in their replay with Canvey Island on Tuesday night:

Imagine how many times Sky Sports News would replay this if it was Garath Bale

1-0 Bayern so far.

Hart with another clanger. Fantastic shot from Riberya - but Hart should be stopping that at his near post.

Speiss for England!

Good game though, so far anyway.

For me one of the matches of the day tomorrow will be Chesterfield v Mansfield.

Giving their current league positions and in view of the fact that it is always a fiercly fought local derby it should be cracking match. I used to work in Chesterfield and the Spireites hate Mansfield with a passion.

I will be routing for Mansfield as Nottinghamshire team and also because as a Notts fan I used to get quite a bit of stick from my Spireite colleagues when at work.

So for one day only COME ON YOU STAGS!

Well Mr. McClaren got off to a mixed start. Derby were 4-1 down at home at half time but pulled it back to 4-4.

How is @super_ram feeling tonight? I hope he didn't switch the radio off at half time.

Ok, you asked for it, I have started a blog which I hope to update regularly as the mood takes me.

It's about my life growing up on Meadow Lane, I am not particularly good at writing but I hope you enjoy my ramblings and don't fall asleep. If you want to read it you can do so here

I've just seen this story in the Nottingham Post, apparently Notts could be poised to take over Arnold Town's Eagle Valley Stadium.

Went to collect my grandson George's FREE season ticket today and bonus because the seat next to me just happens to be unused so he's got that one. I'm taking him on Saturday against Crewe to see how he likes it and hope he doesn't get bored, then we'll see how often he wants to come or how often I want to take him.

If anyone has a season ticket and they have children or grandchildren under twelve they can get a FREE season ticket for them. I just had to take George's passport and birth certificate. I think it's a great offer by Notts and hopefully a lot of fans have taken up the offer, take a child to the match and they will probably be hooked for life.

It looks like Steve McClaren might be in line for the Derby job, he wasn't very successful with them over the river, what does @super_ram think?

Breaking news just coming out: Derby County have this evening sacked manager Nigel Clough.

I for one am stunned, I didn't see this coming at all. To the best of my knowledge, he still had the backing of the fans and after spending a few years re-building the club, sacking him so early in a season when there appears to be hope of a play-off push it very odd indeed.

Be very interested to hear what @super_ram makes of it all

I've learned to respect him a lot, I think he did a fantastic job at Burton and Derby (both local clubs). I did feel he moved up a little too quickly but no doubt the championship is suited to a manager of his ability, I feel he's unlucky to have been sacked (as we've already discussed).

Now I've tried giving CK time and whereas I won't directly bring negative comments, I would hate to miss a debate.

Would you take on Nigel Clough as Notts Manager?

Honestly, I've grown tired and I feel we're losing more than we can afford too. CK's long vision plan could be far away - He might never resolve the defensive issues we have but he's got us for the time been being able to attack and break, on a more solid day we might have perhaps won and go forward for more but there's areas which need working clearly.

Yet for me, I'm tired of seeing Notts go through the phases and I'm concerned that we will lose more support if we don't handle the situation.

Nigel Clough can handle budgets, he's pretty decent with youngsters (Will Hughes tends to thank him a lot), He knows good players and he see's how he wants his teams to play. By all accounts he isn't that bad with his tactical choices and personally I would like to see him at Notts.

If we lose against Crewe.. How long until the players go back to their less than inspiring performances and we see a situation develop where heads drop again.

Thoughts?

Not impressive, quite the annoyance for actual fans and whoever runs this account deserves to have it banned. It's clearly not a parody, it's been setup in mind to trick people and it's not acceptable in my opinion. For anyone wondering what I am going on about? Well someone or some people, have set up a fake twitter account which matches the official clubs.

They put this up..

Leaving aside the football I've had a lovely weekend. Yesterday we went on a river cruise to celebrate our friends 50th birthday, what a fantastic day for it too. The sun was shining and it was idyllic cruising slowly down the river having afternoon tea on the boat. When we got back we picked up our two eldest grandchildren (we get to see them twice monthly thanks to a court order- long story) and brought them back to ours for a sleep over.

Today we were all up bright and early to support my son (their uncle) as he attempted the Robin Hood Half Marathon. Recently a stomach bug has swept through the family he has been ill his youngest son Freddy has been ill and then last night George (his eldest son) was up all night being sick. It wasn't the best preparation for a half marathon but he did really well and finished the course in less than two hours, we were so proud of him.

We managed to spot him amongst the multitude at the half way stage at Highfield University Park where we gave him a cheer to encourage him then we caught him again as they went round the lake (we took a short cut) our Grandchildren loved it seeing their uncle run with all the other runners. We stood near a drinks stop where the drinks are held out for the runners and they grab them as they run past and the kids thought they were all a bit naughty throwing their drinks bottles on the floor and not taking their litter home. Bless em. :)

After the runners had gone past we had a long time on the play park with the children and an ice cream before coming home and having one of Mrs. H's lovely sunday roasts. Perfect end to a perfect weekend.

The kids have gone home again now, tired but happy, we've opened a bottle of wine, we're also tired but happy.

What's everyone else been up to, anything nice?

Sorry I'm late putting this weeks games up, been buisy and unwell.

This Saturday's fixtures:

Sheffield Wednesday v Doncaster Rovers

Watford v Wigan Athletic

Preston North End v Swindon Town

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Sheffield United

Fleetwood Town v Exeter City

York City v Portsmouth

Good lck everyone :)

It's an interesting fixture, a side which beat Sheffield United (1-0) rather convincingly I have been told by a good source up north are a little concerned by our visit. The way some of their fans have communicated with me, you'd have though they was in our position and us in theirs!

Carlisle is an untest ground for me, I'm excited about making the journey.

Notts - MUST show the same conviction and passion in this performance, as the one they did against Tranmere. I think away will be a different one to master, as I strongly feel the crowd helped on Saturday (among other contributing factors). I wouldn't mind a slower game, aslong as the passions there. The skill and tricks, well are nice but I want to see a step at a time but I won't moan if the likes of Andre Boucaud insist on splitting their defense with an incising ball forward - Just a case of doing it when someone can run! ;)

Carlisle - I'm not sure, many seem to have this down as an easy game. It would be so much easier if we had Zoko, we'd be guaranteed a goal! Okay, Perhaps not but I still think we should have kept him. There squad will be wanting a win, I don't see them being overly kind to us and possibly cut throat style game.

Just hope it's a game where boys turn into men and believe! Man into Manager! COYP!

Your thoughts?

Tomorrow we have been invited to a friends 50th birthday cruise. It is a cruise down the river with afternoon tea. Sounds lovely.

It will be even more enjoyable if we just happen to be passing the donkey sanctuary at about the time that Fword fans are trooping out having been beaten by Derby. Here's hoping, I might give them a few "you pies" at the top of my voice safe in the knowledge that short of swimming they can't get to me. :joker:

If any of them jump off the bridge in their anguish I won't be diving in to save them.

Hi Joe

I think your pm box is full, I tried to send you a message but it said I can't.

Is anyone surprised by this?

Today's the 5 year since the death of our most legendary manager Jimmy Sirrel, I'm saddened that it seems to have bypassed some and although his memory lives on. I strongly feel that legends never die!

R.I.P Jimmy

Joe seemed to think that a change of manager could be on the cards following your recent results.

Had you lost and this had happened you might now be seriously considering our (STFC) previous incumbent.

Or  ..... maybe The Rams feel a change would improve their home form.

Just a couple of thoughts for you to mull over.
