Could it be

Featured Replies

The internet is awash with speculation about who will be the new Notts Head Coach. It could be that Notts have already chosen the person & are just waiting for the best time to reveal it to the football World.

All I want now is for Notts to choose the right person for the job, a person who will take Notts to the next level. And who will be an improvement on our last Head Coach.

Luke Williams coming back? I don’t see it happening. If he were returning, surely the discussions wouldn’t be dragging on. If we keep hoping for it, we might just end up disappointed or fixated on a head coach we prefer. Most likely, the Reedtz brothers will go for someone unexpected, but hopefully the fan base will get behind the decision.

is that not one of those accounts that spit out random rumours in the hope that some stick, but very rarely do they ever. @ARLukomski can we trust this?

He did post stuff about Nemane before anyone else and got that right so who knows

I take rumours with a pinch of salt, but it’s interesting to think about how Notts could look if Luke Williams returned. I don’t think defensive organisation would be the main focus, which wouldn’t be a bad thing, but he’d need to make sure we dominate not just possession but also chance creation.

He brought out the best in several players, including Adam Chicksen, who has now moved on. He could do the same with others. I reckon the club will be looking for a new appointment, while Williams settles back into life where he lives. Returning could unsettle that, but who knows?

2/7 latest on Luke Williams... I presume Swansea would still be paying what he is contractually owed. Maybe a lump settlement for the remainder of his contract....Hence why it is taking so long. The Board may have had an eye on the Message Boards given that season tickets still need to be sold...Anyway, announcement by Friday week?

Bringing Luke Williams back to boost sales and reunite the fans sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. He left at the worst possible time and moved to Swansea, which made sense for him, but it didn’t help us.

If this is the reason for the delay, then trying to please the fans almost always leads to failure. If Williams is reappointed, I hope I’m wrong, but this has been tried many times before. The best choice for the club would be to bring in someone with a fresh approach, focused on getting the most out of the squad.

@Piethagoram, would being paid composition for being sacked really prevent luke williams from being hired? or is the wait connected to notts? i guess swansea could have made some sort of restriction to stop him coming straight back, but i dont see a club preventing a manager from finding a new team just because they fired him. its a curious situation but i dont buy it myself.

@upthepies Jimmy Sirrel returned...the rest is history!

There’s always an exception. Jimmy had been with us through an incredible journey, and moving to Sheffield United was a great opportunity for him.

It’s a bit different with Williams. Jimmy Sirrel’s return made much more sense to me. He had secured promotion multiple times, knew the club inside out, and understood the staff and young players. There will only ever be one Jimmy, but if Williams came back and got us promoted, it would be something special to witness.

@liampie LW would have been on considerable money when compared to his salary at Notts . So the question is, does LW continual to accept his wages, despite being sacked..he would have such terms specified in his contract. I think a LW return would be popular rather than an unknown?

Luke Williams returning one day would be something I’d like to see, but I don’t think now is the right time for us. Like with Stuart Maynard, some fans won’t be happy because of how he left. There are always a few who complained whenever his name was mentioned, as if nobody could acknowledge or appreciate someone who gave us one of the most memorable seasons.

Knowing how some people choose to react, I can see them being frustrating about Williams.

I honestlly think Luke will be an eccellent appointment.

People spitting dummies out because he left to go to Swansea, should grow up.

As a working man who has worked away from home, all I saw was a working man get a better paid job, where he was able to wake up in the same house as his wife and kids. who are and will remain his first commitment.

It didn't work out at swansea.

He can return to a place of work, where he is highly regarded and capable of doing his job.

Bring it on I'd say.

The majority of fans would likely be happy to see Luke Williams back, but I think it's valid for some to be concerned. I just think whoever comes in must be supported because it's crucial to get the upcoming season off to the best possible start. We don't know how Williams will be with a much better back three, but we do know that he has a good rapport with the players he's led here.

We will have to wait and see what happens, as fun as it is to speculate, it could turn out to be a different reason as to why we are waiting on the news.

I would rather have Williams than some of the names on the bookies list that have not managed in the English Football League.

But the second return wasn't so good πŸ™ƒ

@PieHard,This is exactly how I’ve felt most of last season and the previous. Luke made us feel part of the team, even after bad results it didn’t feel that the world was bout to end. With SM he drained any optimism I had about our prospects. His interviews were dry with no emotion. Watch the Wembley pre game team video and see how much passion Luke brought with him. A lot are still bitter with Judas comments, I’d have done the same in his shoes.

There are better and worse options than Luke Williams, but we know he can inspire the squad and get the best out of them. I don’t think we were ever going to get promoted in our first season, and I don’t mind that he left or how it happened. It was the worst timing for us, but it made sense for him. I just don’t think success can be repeated when so much has changed, and he struggles with defending.

Still, I’d be more than happy to see him return, I just don’t see it happening.

I still don't think it would've taken this long if we wanted to get Luke Williams back, even with the issue of compensation from Swansea. From our perspective the board know everything about him and wouldn't have really even needed to interview him. I just can't see why it would take a month to get him back, especially when they've known he's been available since February.

Surely we'll hear something by the end of the week now though, it'll be pre-season soon!
