Just been announced on Radio Red!

Expected it last weekend, but not this one. Let's hope the new bounce from the new guy ( or gal if Mrs Trew wants that role as well!!) Comes quickly.

Sad, but understandable and not particularly surprising. But am I the only one who really can't stomach this managerial merry-go-round again?

Paul Hart anyone?

Please take Steve Evans!!!

I'm close to the point of giving up after 33 years :(

Are we really going to progress? With this amount of Managers over the last 6 years, i doubt it.

I'm going to a Hockey Game, We're on the Cusp of the Playoffs. We're on a 15 Game winning Streak and it feels Great!!

I'll still support NCFC, But i'm starting to be like,  Blah Blah Blah..............

This intrigues me. I know Evans doesn't come across as a very nice bloke, but his record in management is impeccable. Why do you want to get rid?

I'd take an obnoxious manager who had us challenging at the top over a nice guy who takes us down any day of the week.

If we appoint Steve Evans I am going to have to change my season ticket to a different location, I couldn't bear watching him and his antics on the touchline, he is so obnoxious but as you say successful, I still wouldn't want him though.

I'm gutted, the football has been dire since before Christmas so it is understandable but I wanted them to succeed so badly. Just hope the Trews have someone lined up to come in ASAP. Will never ever forget Oldham away til the day I die.

I'd question the timing of this. It's like the club are hoping for a boost from a new manager to get us over the line. We can't keep sacking managers. Time will tell if this is the right decision.

Posted

I'm disappointed because I wanted it to work, I felt it was important that it did and if we could have survived the drop I felt certain Derry could learn from this season. However, it isn't to be and I can only with them both well. Whoever comes in must be a solid candidate now, someone who knows League One and can man-manage the players.

I have nothing but respect for Greg and Shaun.

Onwards & Upwards.

Ferguson and Mourinho are testament to this. they are out and out winners who try all manner of tricks and mind games etc just to give themselves an edge over their opponents. Nice wins nothing.

i am disappointed and i just hope it proves to be the correct decision, i am not happy though. we have been needing stability, so sacking derry is a step back and what happens if the new manager cant keep us up?

it may have been better to wait but i accept it.

Personally i think he should have had til the end of the season, but hey ho, its nothing to do with me, is it. Can't think who'll come in next, don't want no Paul Hart, or Stuart Pearce or Danny Wilson, who's names are being bandied about. They didn't do anything where they been at. Only get the sack too.

Posted

Sackings always lead to split decisions, I personally hope whoever comes in can get 100% of the fans or as near too onside quickly.

I would hate for the management to be a quick fix, not that I do but look at last season! We need to avoid the topsy turvy seasons and just look to become average for a short while.

Not entirely unexpected given results, performances and this being Notts but the timing is strange.

Not one to say I told you so, but  :)  :hyper:

My other prediction was Paul Hart in charge until the end of season. I'm guessing i'm spot on with that too. Are you paying attention @PTID1862?

Shaun and Greg were lovely blokes who cared for the cause and the club. Last seasons efforts will never be forgotten, BUT

Entertainment has been 0

Tactics have been 0

Player recruitment has been much better. Tooooo many palyers by far and no settled side.

Hopefully if Hart does take over he'll at least have a go at changing the style a little and try to play football.

Onwards and hopefully upwards.

Ridiculous decision. 2 months ago, I could understand it, we could all see what road the season was going down....

I think the problem is that the players are rubbish. Who can we expect to bring in at this point in the season? What are they going to do if they come in? It's the same sub-standard players.

You can't polish a turd. The best you can do is roll it in glitter.

I will be even more depressed about the situation if as I expect, trigger happy Ray doesn't have anyone lined up. I really hope this isn't the case, but my head tells me it is. If we appoint another stop-gap Kiwomya style manager........I despair..... for all Ray Trew has done for the club in saving us from extinction, he has absolutely no idea who to appoint and when to sack them.

I don't think we could afford another home defeat.

I think this move comes at a time where the club realize some decent managers are currently available and are likely to be more open to negotiating terms just to get back into football management. Derrys record was poor for us, that said I do think he would have lead in safe hands next season.

Clearly a risk to great for the club though. Good luck to him!

Put the emotion to one side - Derry & Abbott are useless and should have gone months ago. Why do folks conclude he will be a good manager one day? On what possible basis do you form that opinion? He can't spot a good player, he had no strategy, he has no tactical awareness & he failed to recognise his weaknesses & frailties. He was a dour uninspiring player and he is a dour uninspiring manager.

He talks a good game, granted, but doesn't translate thst into an effective team or decent results, let alone performances. He's saddled us with the biggest load of tripe we've had in a generation - and that is saying something given the other awful managers we have had to endure.

However, I just don't see the point of hoofing out Rodwell last week and now this pair this week. I said before, "we are stuck with them" because it makes little sense to hang on to them through the last, dire 4 months - 16 points from half a season - then can them at the 11th hour. The timing is ridiculous, putting Hart in charge even more so! Dear God, he has "failure" as a middle name as someone else posted either on here or elsewhere. He is probably one of the few people you would want less than Derry tbh.

Rapidly losing faith.

Giving the fact that we have seen two peaks, compared to the one low - I think that would be a safe bet which would highlight Derry's potential. Naturally when the going gets 'tough' it leads to mistakes and people bottle their ability. Had we have stayed towards the top, the story would be all different. However, we fell to earth rather quickly and very hard.

We don't know how he would cope with a more competitive budget, I think personally that would take the stress of wasting it from off his shoulders.

It was a special quality that kept us up last season but he needs to find that formula and on a regular basis.

Is everyone able to be judged whilst 'inexperienced'? It's like expecting a young player to play with the same quality of a more senior player, it isn't going to happen just like that and the perfect example would be how Curtis Thompson got written off as a poor player. It's really for Derry to prove himself now in my opinion!

Gutted, but not one bit surprised.

Right decision? I don't know. I just don't know what to think anymore to be honest. Unless we bring in someone with a proven track record this is an absolutely pointless move. Trouble is we gave them contract extensions a few months ago which need paying off now, and we hardly have a pot to piss in as it is. So all's we're gonna do is appoint someone else untried and untested, then sack them a few months down the line when we go down. Sorry but I think this decision cemented it.

Jimmy Spencer is returning to action, JCR and Liam Noble are back this weekend, surely Derry deserved one last crack at the whip against Scunthorpe?

Just sums up the sorry state of football in this day and age. After the miraculous job they did last season and the amazing start to this season, ultimately they've been victims of their own success I think.

Fully expect us to go down, sack the manager, then sack the next manager when we don't come straight back up, and we'll just rot in league two.

I don't know why I care anymore to be honest. It's not like I see enough games to really comment much more. It dosen't feel like the club I grew up loving anymore, somethings gone

What annoys me is how they said SD would be BACKED, he wasn't.

Some portions of our fans are extremely thickle!

The board probably felt forced.

If I'm not mistaken. when a manager sets a target for the season, it is reflective of the budget. So the performance should be judged in comparison with the budget.

Seeing as we have the 18th best budget in the league, Derry is pretty much on par.

Very, very poor from Trew in my opinion. He deserves all the blame he gets.
