Very Very Interesting.

What do you all think?

I am surprised about Alan Smith, however not so if it turns out he's just for backup/ a coach.

Overall the list makes sense, Dumbuya kept getting injured and never really did much. I wish all the released players well, I am sure the majority will find suitable clubs to push on their careers.

No real surprises, Smith will be a coach which makes sense.

Good riddance to them!!

Erm, so all of dad's army are staying except Mullins? Not happy with that. I can understand the argument for keeping one or two of them, but the prospect of seeing Edwards, Jones, Smith and Thompson in our line-up next season ... well ... I can only hope that most of them have no intention of stepping onto a football pitch next season. We should be building around our younger players.

Does anyone know for sure whether Smith is staying on purely as a coach? Then I could accept it. Maybe he will work with the youth team.

I do think Smith/Edwards will be more coaching roles/backup.

If this is the case, I would not include them in my 24 man squad. I am hopeful that we focus on being fresh talent into the mix because we are crying out for skill and pace, which needs to be injected.

Just when you thought the club was going to get to grips with the sh!te from last season, Moniz or not that lot let the club down badly last season and will do again.

I am genuinely worried about our league status now.

He said a squad of 22 is what he wants, now my maths might not be the best but.....

Although I don't believe Ray & Aileen want the club to be in the conference we are heading that way like an unstoppable run away train.

We couldn't score this year even when given the ball in the opposing teams six yard box with that crap & I fail to see how is it going to be any different next season.

I am actually more disappointed and upset today than I was when we got relegated.

To put it another way I will not be paying any money no matter how small to watch that shower steal a wage packet from the club like they did last season

He said 24!!!

More should have been released or offloaded, we need to improve greatly and I am annoyed some have survived.

My apologies.

Even so I don't see how 2 additional players are going to change that shower into a quick paced attacking team that will win more than a handful of games

Smith and Edwards will be kept to coaching roles I presume, I don't think Jones will play every week because he'll be 38 next month and will understandably wear down at some point, as we all do. Thompson on the other hand was our top scorer last season and by rights has a few crackers in the locker so to speak, such as the goal of the season or his volley against peterborough, of which many strikers at that level and even above could be proud of.

The Ladies team need to be associated to a league club don't they? If so, there's no chance the Trews would risk relegation. The mens team are a means to an end. Nothing more. Ever wonder why fans are asked to pay 24 pounds for a home game? Do you really believe all that revenue is going to the men's team? I don't.

Amazed that we want/need to hang on to Smith and Edwards. How many coaches do we need?

The prospect of the geriatrics trying to compete in L2 is not good. Most of this lot let us down this season, they will do again.

Cr@p players are still c@p, no matter what League they perform in. Hollis will still have the turning circle of the QM2 and be flat footed, easily beaten and clumsy/mistake laden. Murray will, even if & when fit, still be in and out.

With Spencer, Curtis T and a midfield with a combination of Wroe and/ or Noble plus Jones, I'd say there is, possibly, the basis for a decent team but we still need 4 or 5 fresh, new faces who add pace, awareness and invention. That's being generous.

Until some new signings arrive there isn't too much reason for optimism!

Posted

Wow. Keeping Alan Smith is as big of a shock as the tories getting in again!

Edwards as a coach only I hope.

Hopefully when signings start H Hollis will find himself on the bench or out of the squad. He did pickup a little and that may be attributed to Yatesy, but he needs a miracle to make him a class player!

There is the makings of a squad. The signings are vital. Not sure about Bajner or G Thompson or Jones being negotiated with. I hope that is code for we've offered them £20 and a bag of peanuts and we know they won't take it! OK players on their own in a class team. We aren't that!

Posted

The list is hardly inspiring is it? They really weren't joking when they said keep the majority of them

Posted

Thing is we can't keep releasing the whole or majority of the squad each season, the turnover is the 'joke'. I think provided we access the players who come in and perhaps consider going over 24 slightly, we could build a balanced squad.

There's nothing wrong with making up injuries by pushing youngsters to replace them.

Yet the core and squad must be solid. I think its reasonable to be fair, as I say I doubt we could replace some of the players we have offered contracts too and at least Moniz isn't keeping players for the sake of it.

Posted

I think people should wait and see, we have no idea how the existing players will adapt to life within league two. We should have been good enough to survive, you cant go on the sort of runs we do without there being an underlining problem.

Sign in players with pace, energy and skill. Things should be okay!

We will be an attractive club in the new season, we have some good players who others will want to work along side. I am quietly confident we may be able to push on for promotion and sort the mess we are currently in.

i am disappointed with some of the released players, however i accept it for what it is. i do think we are letting go some very good talent which might have settled better in life within league two.

pleased personally to see alan smith remain.

Of course you are! You'd have to change your profile picture if he left ;).

Personally I'm most disappointed with Traoré's departure, but I guess that's just how football is.
