2 tweets from Leigh earlier today;

'Notts County fans, I have some news for you tomorrow which will bring a smile to your face and certainly bodes well for the future.'

'Okay I will give Notts fans a clue. It concerns one of the biggest clubs in Europe.'

Intriguing to say the least!

Regards Al

You Pies!

He's hinting at a Juventus friendly probably :P

If there's no news and his tweet turns out to be pointless, he will probably need to take shelter.

Seems legit and not necessarily a friendly or Juve.

Sparking lots of rumours it makes for a great debate. I think it will be some link up maybe us being used as a feeder club, thinking like the Udinese/Watford deal

You Pies!

Same guy owns Udinese and Watford. Doubt it's a feeder link up. Would have to be in a decent league for that. Then again who knows....

I wouldn't be surprised if further news came out which was less exciting, I'm not being funny but a link between Liverpool is hardly inspiring. Will they play us at Meadow Lane in a friendly? I doubt it but I feel this piece of news is just the 'fishing net' and not the catch.

So what is the big news? A link up with Liverpool? They have some decent youngsters, a few on loan would be good.

This is a good example of why you should never, ever, say anything to football fans. "Promising news" becomes "rock-solid investment into the club until we reach the Champions League, a new 100,000-capacity stadium and large-breasted programme sellers" before you can say "Munto".

As for the link, heard it all before. We've had our fill of underwhelming loanees to be honest. The proof of the pudding is in the eating.

I wouldn't say we got relegated because of the loan players we had last season, that's an easy excuse in my honest opinion.

What got us relegated was a series of mistakes, one being not replacing the original loans who manage to help us secure the play-off space we had before I demise. In fact, some of the loan players gave more passion and were more constant than some of the players who we called 'our own'.

The thing about this story, it's a repeated process and nothing ever exciting really happens.

A link up with Liverpool would be good to see, as it would with any top Premiership side but a lot depends on the quality of the players they send out to us. I feel the better products of the Liverpool academy will end up playing in an higher division, so most likely we will be seen as a stepping stone for the younger players without league experience. However, this is why I would never raise the bar by making something sound far more important than it is. It sells papers though, plus it makes you appear more central to Notts if you do.

I think the majority of fans I know saw through it anyway, at least the one's who speak to me seem to have done.

Typical sh!te from the red rag, only exciting due to him supporting Liverpool. I thought the idea this season was our own players?

Lets hope Ricardo speaks more truth than we've heard in recent times ala competitive budgets etc etc.

I wish they wouldn't discuss the budget at all really, we know we're gonna pay peanuts so why make a rod for their own back by using terms such as "competitive budget" "statement of intent" etc raising hopes to then reveal the truth after we have all found out the truth for ourselves.

If they want to say anything discuss the half time beverages cos it don't matter if they say it's Twinnings as the amount of milk thats put in would leave even the most discernable palate bamboozled as to the origin of the tea bag.

its to get him attention for half an hour, the guy cares little about notts but more about his own career. if he did care, he would not take sides and make sure notts was being covered well. hyping this story up just sums him up.

The other journo on the post Paul Taylor is a real Notts fan but he has to cover Florist.

Bad taste considering the way he built it up, it made it seem like it would be amazing news and even if Juve replaced Liverpool. It still would not be all that exciting, yet to make fans speculate it was uncalled for.

A journalist should report, not play games.

When people ask what 'American Pie' is about, they're missing the point. The song isn't about the lines themselves - it's about what is between the lines. The song is about what isn't there.
