Exeter fans told me Scott Bennett is comfortable in both CB and MC roles prior to him signing for us.

It's odd to see him start there mind but I hope it provides him a chance to start more regularly - It's goalless right now and I have no idea how we are playing. I haven't been listening, not sure it's even wise considering how my head feels. Let's hope we create some clear cut chances, yet before the game I would have taken a draw. Hopefully we are playing okay, that's the important thing.

We are playing way too defensively, I do not see us getting from the game because they look good for a goal.

gutted to read that mcleod has been injured but this should give spencer or someone elses a chance.

hopefully he wont be out for long because he is worth the 25 minutes he performs on goal and pon has just broken we have scored! get in there... :D

I told you this new manager was a brilliant masterstroke by Ray.

How long does it take for us to actually give players a chance? Well done FILIP VALENCIC!!!!

Now let's grow in confidence from here and secure the points.

Will we hold onto the lead? It will be a test for Jamie's men. COYP

JF is a genius. Inspired appointment. Defensive away and hit on the break. Worked a treat. He'll unleash the home tactics next week. Playoffs? Nope. Automatic promotion.

He couldn't have wished for a better start to his managerial career at Notts. it sounded like a typical smash and grab, I'll be interested to see what they play like at home, well done Notts and well done Jamie.

its a good start! defensively we sounded good but we should not get carried away. its just one game against a side we should beat any day of the week.

lets focus on a real test to see what we can expect.

Just a quick comment, Jamie will not have to change much but we need to reflect on how deep we drop back. Defensively today we was superb! More of the same please Notts.

Only word to sum up this match "effective". One can immediately see when defending corners, the set up is that each player knows their position. Every one was back leaving no one up.

As entertainment, apart from Valencic's strike, it was pretty dour stuff. Set up to stop the other side playing.

A welcome 3 points away.

Good to get the thoughts of someone who was there.  I think we've seen that "setting up to stop the other side playing" is standard League 2 away tactics.  If you can't beat 'em, join 'em!

A heavy pitch. Crawley had dominated for the first 30 minutes. We looked shakey but gradually the confidence grew throughout the game. Certainly the half time team talk, saw us more organised after the break and our defence seem to handle things without any major scares. Valencic provided some quality moments and unlike Burke, does run back to defend. When Smith came on, Curtis moved further forward and ran down the clock in the corners. Effective and professional.

The right thing to do first game and away from home.

Please that we got the win, it sounds like it could have been much different had the defence not made sure they were up to the job. For that reason I am a very pleased exile right now!

First away win since the start of the season? Lets hope we dont have to wait that long for our third win.

Well done Notts.

Mark will one day realise that defending well means you can leave with points, rather than attacking and not scoring, yet having nothing to show for it after 90 minutes.

Today was a good result.

Effective,  it dour sums it up from what I've heard. 3 points at the moment are exactly that though. Hopefully when roles and responsibilities are cemented and they begin to play a style regularly that helps the defence organise then maybe the attacking flair can safely come back in.

I have to comment we did squander 2 great opportunities to make it 0 3. Campbell and Stead being the guilty parties.

Well wonders never cease! Despite mine and many other people's concerns you have to say credit where credits due, Fullarton has already equalled Ricardo's away record! Brilliant win yesterday. Don't underestimate what a great result that is. Crawley have one of the best home records in the league and had won 8 of their last 9 home games, whereas we'd not won away since the opening week of the season.

Yesterday's victory was exactly what we've been crying put for for months! It certainly wasn't pretty. It was a scrappy game but we worked really hard, stayed solid and nicked it with a moment of magic.

First half we were camped in our own half, Carroll made a couple of saves and they had one off the line, but they certainly were not carving us open with the ease with which we've seen teams do in the past. We deffinitely looked a lot more organised. In the second half we seemed to grow in confidence and began to ask them a few questions, although in truth the goal was out of nowehre - what a strike!

You would've expected a Crawley onslaught after that but the goal seemed to knock the stuffing out of them, and the best they could muster were a few hopefull efforts fromr ange. If anything we looked more likely to score again. We saw the game out really well and picked up a great win.

Credit to every player, they were all good. Even Bennett looked fairly solid in the middle of the park. Stead's hold p play was sublime and he really deserved a goal for his efforts, and Curtis Thompson as ever covered every blade of grass. He seems to get better every time I see him play. You don't realise how strong he is either! He was holding off 3 players keeping the ball in the corner in injury time!

Credit to the new manager too, it's quite clear he'd done his homework and knew exactly what we had to do to neutralise Crawley's threats. It really was a proper away performance.

I really do hope yesterday can be a turning point and we can go on a good run of form now and get up that league table. Next weekend's game is a very winnable one, and we should be thirsting for revenge after what happened at their place in September.

Great day yesterday! YOU PIES
