Who would you like Notts to sign?

What potential players would you like Notts to sign for next season?

When people ask what 'American Pie' is about, they're missing the point. The song isn't about the lines themselves - it's about what is between the lines. The song is about what isn't there.

Don McLean

Gary McSheffrey. He's 33 now but his delivery from set pieces is reason enough to sign him. Good set pieces are worth 10 to 20 goals a season in L2.

Michael Woods. He's got the right attitude. He'd make a real difference in midfield.

Dan Holman. He has scored 29 goals in 45 games for Woking and Cheltenham this season. He's out of contract in the Summer. I'm convinced he would do a John Akinde or Matty Taylor in L2.

i hope we move faster to sign the players required to turn next season a round. no idea who may be availible on a free but i do expect any fees to be paid.

http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/league-two/endendevertraege/wettbewerb/GB4

That site has all of the players out of contract everywhere, there are some very good players out of contract I believe, even 'the beast' Akinfenwa is a free agent this summer

I must admit that I'm pretty much out of touch with my knowledge of lower division players, to me they are just a shirt number. I would be tempted by Reuben Reid, but think he will end up at a league 1 club.

First priority is a brand new back four, a quality defensive midfielder and a couple of decent wingers, that is where our major budget outlay has to go. With two decent wingers, I wouldn't be as bothered about another striker because Idle and Stead should score the goals with wide service. A solid defence and a defensive midfielder would allow Aborah to push forward, and spray the ball around.

Me too, the odd one impresses me when they play against us but I soon forget their names.  I just hope that 'character' is near the top of the criteria for future signings.  There isn't a great deal of quality in this division, so guts and team spirit can go a long way as Mansfield have showed us twice.  We are a fairly small club with modest crowds and budget, so I don't expect world beaters but the way this squad have been regularly outfought has been hard to take.

What right do you have to tell me I'm wrong?  You're not my Granddaughter.

I spoke to a Plymouth fan a couple of weeks back who said that he was glad Izale didn't play against them, he said Reuben Reid is very lazy, we don't need another Izale!

Lazy in this league just means very inconsistent and under performing.

Players adapt to some managers, so who knows?

Well would you say Izale is lazy or underperforming, I'd say he's defiantly underperforming but he's very lazy aswell which makes him under perform along with having rubbish supply

@Fozzy Have to take issue on Idle and Stead. Even with the free flowing football at home under Ricardo, the number of chances created but weren't scored, suggests we could have done better in finding forwards that can score.

I'm not saying that I wouldn't replace them given chance, but I don't think strikers are our priority this summer. A solid back line is our absolute must get, along with some pace in midfield and out wide.

I seem to remember that Ricardo wanted pace last summer, but it didn't appear to arrive.

only problem is with Michael woods Hartlepool are gonna want more then a bit for him didn't Leeds sign him for around 3-4Millon.

And Dan Holman would be good with those stats again only issue is teams like Pompey or league one clubs will be intrested but hopefully cooper is lookin at these players

if you're talking about goal scores good luck gettin one on a free as for rubein Reid not a chance we tried to sign him and Plymouth wanted more.

They want a stupid price on him if we want a goal scorer Itl cost us a lot of money money I don't think trews prepared to give now he's apparently selling up APPARENTLY.

I hope someone buys us soon so we have a budget an a manager an know what's going on and we are a bigger club at this level not many get better gates or spend what we have cause they don't have the money.

But you don't need money you just need brains Accrington broke Northampthon had no money won the league our gates are only average becuase people won't pay to watch rubbish or no effort or fight.

If cooper can get a winning side with fight talent desire people will pay that 24 pounds or get season tickets again but this year has been terrible head of recruitment couldn't spot a player if he tried

Sometimes, the players considered not to be 'class' can be all the difference.

You need a mix of people, those with skills - battlers - raw talent/promise. Most importantly you need a manager who can judge those strengths, understand how to incorporate them and when.

A field where dreams become reality.

We need to get busy but really do we want those responsible for such poor recruitment last summer to be responsible again ? I personally think not , in an ideal situation the sale of the club can be completed asap then a plan in place and a manager appointed then recruitment on the playing front.

That's easy don't you think , sorry this is NCFC its never easy . Depressed

McSheffrey & Niall Canavan have been released by Scunthorpe. 2 players we could build a squad around. Good attitudes. Better than what we gave now. Hope you are reading this Mrs Trew!

Canavan wouldn't be a bad signing, but I have a feeling he will go to Rochdale where he played out the end of the season. McSheffrey will probably be looking for somewhere that will offer him a 2 year deal as he will be 34 at the start of the season.

James norwood I think his name is, the Tranmere striker has scored 21 this season! And scunny have released Sean McAlister, not seen him play but he's played a lot for them

Rumours of the Mansfield situation, arise fears of footballing debts not being paid  and the real risk of a transfer embargo.

According to the Mansfield chairman we already are under a transfer embargo. Even if we weren't, we'd have major difficulty attracting players.

The club needs to be rebuilt from the bottom up. If nothing changes soon, our only realistic objective for next season will be to escape relegation.
