I felt it was time we had a specific thread for transfers rather than them being separate (Carlton Cole) Now that er are out of the embargo!

*just a heads up, no new signings can play tomorrow as the deadline was Friday/today at 12pm

First rumour/announcement! Alan hardy said it was likely that kelvin Wilson was going to sign with notts

He also said that Nolan has players lined up to be signed

Jon stead is also attracting interest from america as per the nottm post, rumour is its Portland timbers, if we could get cash for him i wouldn't mind but we have to sign a replacement as our only strikers are Campbell, Gibson and forte

I'm a bit sceptical about the Kelvin Wilson rumour, no doubt there will be genuine interest from us but we tried to sign him back before he went to Rotherham United.

Sheffield Wednesday also nearly tempted him to capture his signature, I know some ex Forest players and they informed me of something (which I won't repeat). Yet, I also know his last two big injuries has taken toll on his career. If that would effect him in League Two, I don't know but I wonder if we could actually afford him.

There's got to be value in it.

@BradtheMiller: Kelvin still got it? He seems a bit of a phantom at your end. I know you've made comments in the past about him and Dexter Blackstock.

We can't afford to let Jon Stead go, not at any cost.

Even if we signed another good goalscorer, Stead is a player who can lift us by himself and we need this quality. Besides he's proved his worth now.

Any chance we can coax Andy Morrison, Duncan Ferguson, Garry Ricketts, Roy Keane, Marco Materazzi and Gennaro Gattuso out of retirement?

By today's performance, it is quite the stretch to imagine any teams over in the states would be interested in Jon Stead.

Then again look at what happened with Luke Rodgers.

In regards to Wilson someone did tell me that he had lost his passion for football so whether he would be the right character we want back at notts im not sure

Not to put too finer point on it lads, but Kelvin Wilson is just plain awful. The turning circle of an 18 ton truck, slow, positionally inept & past it.

He'll fit right in then.

The positivity floating around the club right now might be enough to help Wilson find his love for football again, in his home town and he shouldn't be too bad in League 2. As for Carlton Cole, think if he was to come he'd find the back of the net, he did alright when he dropped to the championship with West Ham so I see no reason why a 33 year old Cole couldn't hold his own in League 2 his never been a pacey striker.

We need able and willing players those that want to play for the club.

Wilson and Cole seem like the same mistakes we have made previously, the more I think of it, the more I think it would be a mistake. Would prefer to find experienced lower league players, than ones failing to do it above us.

There's a strong chance Kelvin Wilson would get injured. Not worth the risk IMO. New personnel are essential. When is the embargo due to be lifted? I'd imagine loanees will be a big part of the plan given the window closes tomorrow? I know Notts can sign free agents but they are free agents for a reason......

The first thing I thought of when I read this was Dean Leacock. A centre half that should have been a cracking player, but just did not have any desire to play for Notts and ended up being discarded by Derry. If Wilson is like this he won't last long under Nolan, but I'm sure that KN will have asked around first.

I'm a bit gutted to be saying this but I think the one thing that's becoming clear though is that Stead is nowhere near the same player he was at the start of the season and needs to be replaced, his legs have just gone and is probably a legacy of rushing him back from injury. I can definitely see a centre forward coming in this week.

I don't want to be negative, but please GOD NO! Not the quality or type of player we want at the club.

He would get more stick than Alex Rodman!

Another Port Vale reject! The others have had a great start at Notts, so why not bring another one in! We need a goalscorer not another player that runs around a bit and does nothing else!

Leigh Curtis said he's a terrific goal scorer but his record shows otherwise, there's a reason he hasn't stayed anywhere since Burnley

He can score some good goals, and he did well for Burnley but he's hardly prolific.

We obviously can't judge everyone based on their appearances and records, though from first had knowledge I don't rate him and he's of the mould that is very uninspiring If we are planning for life in the Non-League, then he's the type of signing that we should expect. Otherwise we need to keep clear.

Leigh Curtis bangs on and on about how good Richard Duffy is at reading the game, the bloke talks more sh!te than the Trews & Branston put together

Mark Yeates signs for NOTTS from Blackpool

I've been told he's a winger, not had chance to do any research of him, but fans on twitter were happy with him!

Interesting signing, a winger who has some crossing and dead ball ability, but never seems to be able to hold down a first team place for long. Will be interesting to see what KN can get out of him, but personally I'm slightly underwhelmed as we sign another over 30s journeyman from a league 2 sides reserves. Will support KN's judgement though.

he looks pretty short in the picture, i hope hes not lightweight.
