Checkatrade Trophy: Grimsby Town 2 - 1 Notts County

Think we played really well first half. I would say Grimsby deserved it though. They ran us riot second half and we couldn't keep up with their high pressing football. Annoying because this could have kick started our season. Few things I picked up on, Fitz still looks pants but he is becoming more commanding, apart from corners. Enzio Boldewjin was quiet all game and had about 5 touches. Alessandra looks decent with Hemmings. Disappointed not to see Campbell get a game. If we lose to Exeter I don't really know where we go from here. So no more to add for me because I just don't know what to say anymore, we fielded a strong team. Hopefully get a good weeks training under our belts and go from there. Stead and Dennis both unlucky not to score.

Let me know your thoughts down below.

I’m just annoyed .. it’s the checkatrade yes but every win will boost confidence and right now it’s not doing that. I read simons spilled the second goal ... speechless

Nabbed from Adam on Twitter

"We never win at home and we never win away, we lost last week and we lost today, we'll lose next week and we'll never win a game, NCFC okay"

He did, his fault for the second goal again ... anyone spotting a pattern here?

Some building blocks from the first half , the manager maybe learned more from the second , fitness levels need to improve heard that said by a few to be honest , improvements may take a while .

Hopefully he's learned we're in bad need of a new gk.

Issues here....Grimsby win first header,to head across goal

2 Grimsby players are left totally unmarked at the far post

Yes Fitz could of done better, but on closer examination , shot was deflected?

The refusal to mark the players at the far post was criminal..one cannot say our players were even close to them.  Another mental switch off which in professional football is inexcusable, given the types of goals we have been conceding so far this season.

He had the ball in his hands and dropped it!

Those types of situations a keeper should deal with, we can't keep making excuses for this type of thing. It will only help him if we are honest, he needs to be better. His confidence is shot and he's in no mans land half of the time.

For a second I almost wished Notts was in the back and white stripes there.

This seems to be what sums up the outcome.
