Looks like we won’t have to wait much longer to find out the identify of our new owners! A statement could be made later on this week, just a couple of minor queries to sort. Hopefully it all goes through. It’s encouraging to see they still want to purchase us even if we drop into the National League (which looks increasingly likely now).

Also news about the other bidders; Alex May and Norman Smurthwaite. Not much about May, but Smurthwaite is the Port Vale owner. Port Vale are also in the middle of a takeover which would mean Smurthwaite will soon be the ex-owner. However, you’d be hard pushed to find a Vale fan with a good opinion of the guy…

Fingers crossed the South African’s are a good bunch…

Fingers crossed they are serious and can deliver.

Otherwise it doesn't look good. Vale fans are protesting about Smurthwaite's stewardship of their club. As for May, according to a couple of Chesterfield forums he was involved in a bid to buy them a year ago. Several figures in that takeover bid had links to none other than Reg Brealey. If he were our only option, I'd beg Alan Hardy to stay.

It sounds good to me.

I don'tΒ much about the people involved, I just hope a clean slate and them focusing on the community would do wonders right now. I'm content to wait until further solid news comes out, hopefully than the takeover will be announced as completed.

has anyone googled him? his mini bio on the search engine refers to him as 'fatty'. ????

you never know, i think notts are a bigger club than port vale. our grounds better in every sense and he might do well with the local businesses around us. vale is pretty much a **** hole if you pardon my language. im more worried that hes from coventry, he might try to get us to play in blue. lol

So who's the actual South African consortium? I thought it was being led by the Port Vale bloke???

No-one knows yet. Can't wait to find out.

The Vale owner and the dodgy-sounding property dealer are other bidders, but it sounds as if the South Africans are preferred.

It's about not putting all your eggs in one basket. Takeovers have been known to fall through, and there's a lot resting on this takeover for Notts, Paragon and Hardy personally.

Any more news of this? It would ideally be concluded by now. Watch it be finalised once they know where we are next season.

I've been thinking the same for awhile now.

A big plus for any new owners as to be the attendances this season..... But will they continue in the Vanarama or League 2??????....... Us and them will soon find out.... Not long now!!!!!! .Β

The whispers going around are about it being connected to Bidvest – A multi-billion company from South Africa, they’re huge. We were sponsored by 3663 the food company a few years back. They are part of Bidvest; Bid Corp and now called Bidfood based in the UK. So there’s a connection there. Interestingly Bidvest also own football team in South Africa; Bidvest Wits (previously know as Wits University before the takeover). I’m sceptical but those are the rumours…

I have a suspicion that no announcement has been made in order to avoid distracting the team before such a crucial match. If that's so, it's a crucial decision. From tomorrow evening we can think about the future.

The new owners will want to discuss terms based on the standard of football Notts will be playing, I doubt its completed yet.

I suspect two prices will have been agreed though.

I'm having doubts that there is anyone, specially with Hardy saying they want him to remain as Chairman. Do they know the Fans DONT want Hardy to remain as Chairman. I think we will see the end of Notts County Football Club now. :(

I don't see what AH has to gain from lying about the takeover, he stated on the radio he expects it all to be done within the next 7-10 days. We've seen Terry Pritchard at the games, I've no reason to believe it's not legit.

In terms of the new owners wanting AH to stay on, that says to me they've got NO experience in running a football club and want Alan to help!

I can't see how Alan can stay on, but novices at the helm is the last thing the club needs right now...Β
