Football finances

If you learn something from every game, there shall come a point in time, when you should never lose... Jimmy Sirrel

Very interesting article on football finances, I think we all know that football is a greedy rich sport and that nobody really makes a profit (mostly due to the nature of the business). I think clubs must start living within their means, the issue is how do fans get behind a club without complaining constantly about results? That is a pressuring demand, which puts strain on the manager.

Stability won't come back naturally for most clubs due to the nature of sacking managers to achieve short term success.

A field where dreams become reality.

The sports become increasingly greedy and the days of millionaire owners seems to be a thing of the past, more multi-aires will be needed to sustain this game.

Could a monthly fair play rule help clubs to stay within their means? i.e clubs who operate at a loss must ensure they operate with their monthly income? Most teams spread it out across the season [or even a few]. Season tickets and shirt sales are also a big pay day.

Clubs at the lower end of the table must start living within their means.

Has football ever been in a worse time?

Finances and the rise of hooligans makes me quite disillusioned with the game.

Oh oh oh ohhhhh, everywhere where we go, watching super County putting on a show!

Some of that makes scary reading. How are Scunny getting away with spending 150% of their turnover on wages? :o

The fact that most lower-division clubs make a loss is nothing new. Now, however, clubs in the PL and Championship are turning profits, providing an added incentive for club owners to gamble.
