  1. yes, we seem to allow the best prospects slip through the cracks but in one way. notts is not the type of team to give them the chance they need to secure a place in the first team, most would probably end up released and picked up. its something notts should try to improve. with all the stats and knowledge of what makes a good player, i would have though the reedtz would want to bring that side to the academy as a way to enhance it.
  2. part of his plans to keep the team and fans in balance ahead of the game, we just need to approach it in a manner where we concentrate on our own performance and creating goal scoring chances.
  3. thank you for taking the time to wish us well, the national league has not been that bad and it has made us approach things differently. our new owners have started to rebuild the club wisely.
  4. its great to see the club finally having luck with good strikers, signing macaulay langstaff was a touch of genius and i hope he stays around for a few more seasons. i think notts and langstaff can progress further together, but even the memories of the goals he has scored during this campaign will be remembered for all his efforts.
  5. jackie sewell did sound like a very good striker who was an all round player, him, les bradd and tony hateley sound like a very lethal strike force. i saw jackie swell at a few games being wheelchaired into the ground bless him when he was alive. i am glad he saw out his days watching the club that meant so much to him.
  6. @Fozzy you are too good at this and are such a tease when it comes to naming the player. @CliftonMagpie wants putting out of his misery.
  7. i think it makes the managers role easier when the squad structure is there, its just a terms of balancing the rest of the wage budget to bring in players that add strength to the team. i think if we can renew the majority of the out of contract players, bring in jodi jones and improve the defence we will we will be a much stronger. hopefully we will win the playoffs, which would add more money to the coffers. i think each of the signings this season has been a boost to the squad. notts are blessed in midfield and unfortunately that does mean there is little space for ed francis. he has not been the same player since michael doyle left but i think he will pick up again if he was to move on and play more.
  8. Huddersfield Town 1-0 Reading Millwall 1-3 Blackburn Rovers Middlesbrough 2-0 Coventry City joker Preston North End 1-1 Sunderland Bradford City 3-0 Leyton Orient Newport County 0-1 Crewe Alexandra Tranmere Rovers 0-0 Northampton Town Walsall 2-2 Doncaster Rovers
  9. welcome to pon @Kelly and @Prodigal Red, do say hello.
  10. i dont watch much football, i prefer to watch the italian and german leagues. the passing backwards is a modern way to make our formation work, it enables space to open up and gives us the advantage when we have 5 or more in midfield. it makes it difficult to play against us as an attacking team.
  11. i dont think we need to fear the home game, we just need to stay focused at the job at hand. boreham wood are a good team but nothing special.
  12. voted i was starting to wonder when this would take place.
  13. lee hughes is who i would say, the whole squad from 09-10 was amazing. ricky ravenhill, neal bishop, mike edwards, luke rodgers, craig westcarr but hughesy was the best i have seen.
  14. voted, its harder than choosing the player of the season. quite a few members have been posting some great comments all season.
  15. i have voted for ruben because hes been much better consistency wise this season. on his day, he is the difference between 3 points.
  16. i think the biggest impact from a player has been from sam austin, yes, macaulay langstaff has been incredible on goal but austin has just been amazing in midfield.
  17. i have voted, i think this is going to be difficult for everyone but i went for what i felt was the best.
  18. Reading 3-1 Wigan Athletic Stoke City 1-1 QPR Accrington Stanley 0-2 Cambridge United Derby County 1-1 Portsmouth Morecambe 0-2 Lincoln City Carlisle United 0-1 Salford City Gillingham 1-0 Newport County Northampton Town 0-2 Bradford City joker
  19. clifton had many notts fans, its one of those areas where fans settled after the rebuilding of the meadows began. i would say where i lived with my parents, there was more notts fan but there has been an increase in those over the river during my time. i frequently bump into notts fans in beeston, most are very upbeat and friendly.
  20. hes done very well this season, he has enjoyed playing and for the most part hes been incredibly lively on the ball. a very dangerous player for us, who likes to tease and cross in those inviting balls for our forwards. i am delighted hes staying, i thought he might decide to move on but his commitment is worth praising. also well done to luke williams for bringing the best out of a player who had been a vital part of the teams promotion hopes.
  21. @Chris i think adam chicksen will play in the upcoming match. it would be disappointing to see sam austin dropped for jodi jones, but i believe he will still be on the bench. it’s always tough to make these decisions and i’m sure the team will do what they think is best for the game.
  22. i am glad adam chicksen has signed on again, 2 more years means we should see plenty more goals from him.
  23. haha i would have loved to have been able to watch this training session, you just could not make it up!
