He should have done better with them, in all fairness; it's a difficult league, but they have some very good players. I think Luke Williams should try to find a good League Two or National League team to rebuild and improve with; he's not quite ready for this level, and I think it shows just how capable Notts are when it comes to making life easier for managers.

Agree with @Chris

If I were him I'd go back down to National League level just like Stuart Maynard did. That's if he's still interested in Club Management.

Unlike Ian Burchnall, I think it would be a huge shame if Luke Williams didn't see this as a sign that he could do wonders if he had longer in charge of a club. I don't think this is likely to happen all that high up the English pyramid, Peterborough United, after Swansea City was almost a golden opportunity for him.

Going into coaching again would be a significant sign of accepting that he's not ready for management.

I think we could all agree that Williams does have managerial material in him, whereas Burchnall seems like an exceptional coach and nothing more. At least this is how I would compare the two, even Stuart Maynard has managerial qualities and York City did him dirty after he got them back into the English Football League.

Another point is the owners - surely they won't still be fit and proper if found guilty on 114 counts, so they'd have to leave.

No punishment that doesn't involve the owners leaving will be sufficient. Ultimately, all this stems from the fact that Man City are effectively being used to showcase and sportswash a foreign country. This has to be prevented in future, acting several years after the fact is not good enough.

I think Brian Stubbs should be my number one contender. He played all his playing career at Notts and helped the club go from the fourth to the first Division.

David Needham would be my 2nd choice, him having a long defensive partnership with Brian during our glory years of the late 60s & 70sI think it may be difficult for modern footballers to get into the hall of fame because there is no longevity in the game nowadays.

Maybe in a few years Macaulay Langstaff's name might come up due to his record goalscoring feat for the number of games he played.

It was great to see Palmer back to his best stroking the ball around, he was my man of the match.

Cooper was like a little terrier when he came on he works so hard. We do need someone up front to put the ball in the net on a regular basis though.

Palmer played well depsite being fouled a few times. McDonald also looked well up to speed.

Of the players I've not really seen before, Browne impressed me the most, very tidy and was always looking to play forward passes, and the goal we conceded wasn't on his side.

Palmer wasn't bad. Smyth ran a lot but with no clarity of purpose. Defensively looked OK apart from a shocking goal. Need to cut out some passes across the field sometimes.

A little disappointed to be honest.

A decent run in this cup will help with crowd morale as I suspect one or two fans will get upset when we aren't challenging for promotion.

Gone for Cooper, to me showed passion and desire but not his best game but nobody really stood out

It could have easily broken his leg, if not worse, so thankfully it didn't do anything. It's a similar incident, but on a much larger scale than the Just Eat delivery robot that ran over a harmless man who seemed drunk and tried to fight it. I can't find the video, but if I come across it, I will add it.

Sadly once again we failed to make any inroads when on top. Toothless up front and as for Longelo, he wouldn't set foot on the pitch for me ever again. To stand and watch while Nesbit waved goodbye and created their second is unforgivable. Much work needed during the international break me thinks.

It was a bad mistake from Longelo, but I do think it's a little harsh to not want to see him play for Notts again on the evidence of just a bad mistake & just 60 minutes football for Notts.

It wasn't just Longelo that was at fault. The Reading goalscorer was allowed a free header at the back post.

Hopefully Longelo will get a full game against Grimsby on Tuesday & we might be in a better place to make a judgement.

Similar was happening to Lipsiuc throughout his time on the pitch. Then, and not to make excuses for him, Longelo was caught cold in the same way.

Maybe we have to give some credit to Lisbie, a quality player who can skin people with skill, timing and pace. I caught some of NCT last week and they said L2 didn't have players who could blow you away but L1 will have. Maybe Lisbie and Marriott are what they meant and to be fair Pato was warning about it pre-match.

I think it's fair to ask whether we have anyone to give us a decent full season at Left Wing-Back. On the evidence so far, Lipsiuc just isn't ready. Tsaroulla hates it over there. So Longelo better be up to it.

I think Pato may look at Gibbons-Ness-McDonald-Bedeau and be able to sell a back four to what's left of the technical board. That's a very strong 4, but IMO a dramatic change like that would really put us in the relegation frame. The solution has to be playing like @nottsnutter mentions, with proper support for the WBs

Last season we had too many WBs and not enough CMs. The problem may be reversed this season. The likes of Samuels-Smith, Kouyhar have to play their parts too until we can get to January and swap one of our CMs for quality out wide.
