Guy Branston, terrible player, even worse head of transfers or whatever he was.

I had a hatred for Garry Thompson for being utterly useless. I didn't enjoy Alan Smith whilst he was here as he was immobile, but that's not his fault, more the manager who played him.

People tend to say Caskey is the worst, mainly because he just didn't use the obvious talent he had. For me, because he's just a horrid human, it goes to Tom Williams.

Its got to be Guy Branston he lasted one half of a match before he was hauled off, never to be seen again if I remember right.

It's been an eagerly awaited match ever since the fixture list was announced for these two local sides. Matches between both sides have always been very competitive with no quarter given.

Mansfield come into this fixture in excellent form, they are unbeaten in their last five league matches with 3 wins & 2 draws. In their 11 matches played so far they have 5 wins, 3 draws & 3 defeats. They currently stand in 10th place in League 1 with 18 points. They have scored 20 goals & conceded 16.

During their promotion season in 2023/24 Mansfield did the double over Notts & were well worth their wins at that time. The last time Notts beat Mansfield in a competitive game was a 1:0 win on 16 Feb 2019 at ML in League 2.

Two Notts former favourites now play for Mansfield. George Abbott who is a loanee & David Mcgoldrick who signed for Mansfield at the beginning of the season. Notts will need to be weary of the Mansfield forward line & Midfield. Players like striker Michael Smith, Midfielders Jon Russell & Nathan Moriah-Smith, not forgetting George Abbott.

Notts go into this match with lots of confidence after two excellent results against promotion hunting sides where they beat Sheffield Wed 2:0 & a creditable draw against Stockport 1:1, both games at Meadow Lane.

I think that a draw at Field Mill on Saturday against an in form Mansfield would be another very good result for Notts. It's going to be a very physical contest & Notts will have to show all the commitment that they have demonstrated in their previous two matches.

Never a fixture I look forward to, as we nearly always seem to underperform and seem to get out muscled all over the pitch. I’m hoping with the current crop this will be reversed Saturday having read the groups comments from the last 2 games and from those I’ve watched we now have those fighting qualities. I feel a draw would be a good result but have a good feeling we may come away with 3 points 🤞

Just checking in as I go over some of the bugs that have crept in.

I had a wonderful week away at Skegness with my family; we loved every minute that gave us some much-needed quality time with Super. We came back on Sunday, earlier than normal because the weather was quite rainy and the wind was strong. It wasn't fair to Super to hang around longer, just for him to get cold even though I am sure he would have liked to stay longer. It just made more sense to come back.

I'm not glossing over the previous exchange, and I will find time to properly read them all. Since coming back, I have been struck with phlegm and flu-type symptoms. It's making me feel quite down, as I would like to go and see Super to check in on him.

@Piethagoram Mrs. T makes lots of curries, she always makes more and freezes them, we love our curries.

In the end I went with AI’s recipe in the end it made a nice tea for the two of us.

@Chris your break away at Skeggy sounds great I’m glad you all had a good time, I hope @super_ram managed to get some ale down him and plenty of good food. You can’t beat family holidays, we normally go away with our family during the October half term but for various reasons it’s not happening this year, I miss it but we’ve had some fantastic holidays with them in the past so lots of great memories.

A brave lady who deserves to have her name remembered throughout history. Such a sad but interesting story about how someone who played a vital role in the war will be quite rightly remembered as a hero.

I wouldn't call it a mauling either, but I agree with @theAnticlough to an extent. After years of knocking around the National League and League Two and bossing nearly every game, the second half was an uncomfortable watch at times. But tough afternoons are part of climbing the league ladder and were bound to happen. I'm happy with how we played and pleased we still got a point out of it rather an a "Sutton away" experience!

The argument for not putting the clocks back from British summer time has merits on both sides.

Many point out that putting the clocks back in Autumn gives lighter mornings for children going to school which they say is a big safety issue. But others point out that the darker evenings puts commuters at risk too..

Personally I think that when the clocks go back in Autumn, it should stay as it is all year round, with darker evenings in summer along with lighter mornings in summer as well as Winter.

Often amazes me when you hear stories like this how such incredible women seem to get erased or forgotten about despite their brilliance
