This week, @Garry Lee, @super_ram and @william1984 all share the glory of first place. Not a high-scoring round this time (many of you wasted your jokers on Watford), but no one went away empty-handed.

    grafik.png

We have change at the top! @super_ram moves past @magpiejue and @Dan to seize top spot. But we all know I'm going to win in the end.

And there it is, the first round ever to be calculated on my new laptop using the miracle that is Microsoft Excel 2024. But time marches on relentlessly; as such, our next round is on Saturday and will be posted on Wednesday. Have a good week everyone and take care.

Good morning, itโ€™s a dull one again, itโ€™s forecast to be dry but overcast and cold all day here, however this time next week Iโ€™ll be basking in the sun with temperatures in the 20s or 70s for you luddites. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Yes Iโ€™m off on holiday again flying to Lanzarote on Friday for a week of sun and sea. The count down is on so this week will be all about making sure weโ€™ve got everything, checking lists etc.

Have a great day everyone.

Roos clean sheet!

Quoted from the Notts Website.

We have completed the signing of Barnet forward Lee Ndlovu.

The 31-year-old joins us for an undisclosed fee and signs an 18-month contract with the option of another year in the clubโ€™s favour.

Director of Football Richard Montague said: โ€œLee is a player weโ€™ve admired for a long time and adds another dimension to what is already a very strong attack.

โ€œHeโ€™s extremely powerful, a constant menace to defenders and someone who will create space for others in the attacking third.

โ€œLee has been a key player in what we consider to be a very strong Barnet team and weโ€™re delighted to welcome him to Meadow Lane.โ€

  • Has Ndlovu chickened out by not taking the No.9 shirt though? He mentioned Macca in his interview, and was very positive about him. I know they are only numbers but it is strange not seeing any of our forwards with that shirt.

On 25/01/2026 at 20:21, liampie said:

i am not adding this to be negative but i thought straight away, here is the new junior morias.

Definitely, in the sense that it's insurance for the second half of a promotion bid.

Say we keep Jatta, but he got injured....we absolutely have to have a physical presence at both ends of the pitch. I wouldn't like to see us in play-off semis against Salford or Cambridge say, and we get bullied and wimp out like last season.

Apart from that there's not much similarity, different style, age, length of contract. He's got a season and a half to prove himself and make a contribution.. He may only get about 6 goals across that time and still be popular and a good signing.

On 27/01/2026 at 10:16, Mapperley Pie said:

Agree @McPie . Just listened to his interview and he comes across very well. Very clear of his role and how he would fit in. An old fashioned Division 4 forward ๐Ÿค”.

Yeah, I think the new signings and his signing in particular will be a boost and I really fancy us to win well today.

He seems very positive and the way he spoke about Notts County made us sound like the place to be. Would all the players watch that interview? His enthusiasm about joining County could give an extra boost to the positivity and pride in wearing the shirt.

Three wins on the spin for the Magpies & a massive win against one of our arch rivals for promotion.

It could have been a bigger margin if Notts would have been able to take more of the chances they created. They thoroughly deserved the win tonight.

So who is your best player for Notts tonight? I have chosen the starting eleven plus Dennis, who scored the vital winning goal.

Those players are,

Belshaw, Macari, Platt, Bedeau, Tsaroulla, Norburn, Iorpenda, Jones, Grant, Hall, Jatta, Dennis.

  • Show previous comments  8 more
  • I went for Norburn, heโ€™s really won me over now, he was tidy on the ball and he was pressing and hassling all match. We looked a bit all over the place when he went off that last 10, but I think he needed the rest!ย The back three were on top form and Jatta was also brilliant.

It was a very good team performance. Pity that Notts couldn't have taken some of those chances that they created in the first & second halves apart from the two goals they scored.

I think that the team performance was the best of the season so far.

The first goal has now been credited to Jatta, so along with his goal, & due to his exceptional performance, including that exquisite flick that let in Dennis for the winning goal, I award him with my vote for Man of the Match..

Pete Wild: Fleetwood Town boss is dismissed by League Two...

League Two side Fleetwood Town sack head coach Pete Wild and his assistant Adam Temple after a run of six defeats in seven matches.

This is a very strange decision when Fleetwood are still in mid table & only 9 points from a playoff place.

It's always a strange time for someone to take over with the transfer window shut by the time someone is appointed.

The owners could be looking for a new boss to give the side a bounce, but it could easily go the other way. In my opinion it will be tough for Interim Head Coach Matt Lawlor, (who was first team coach under Pete Wild), although his team beat bottom of the table Harrogate on Saturday.

Time for a midweek round with a very League One/Two flavour, which are the only proper divisions anyway. Send in your predictions by 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday and don't forget your joker!

Morning all, another week is ahead of us, I hope you are all fighting fit.

I learned of another friend/former colleagues death yesterday, itโ€™s been happening a lot just lately, either people I know dying suddenly or becoming seriously ill, I guess Iโ€™m getting to an age where people of the same age are having health problems itโ€™s a bit depressing really.

Anyway on a brighter note, in two weeks Iโ€™ll be in Lanzarote soaking up the sunshine. sunshine

Howโ€™s life treating you? Anything you want to get off your chest? Let us know.

Have a great day everyone.

  • Great to hear @Fan of Big Tone that you saw @Chris yesterday. I was beginning to think things had turned a little negative for him, as he hasn't been seen on Pon for a while. Perhaps if we let him know that we are all here for him, our thoughts, prayers and blessings, just reach out and let us help. No one ever needs to be alone in our community, just a message and help is at the forefront. On here or even face to face, never suffer in silence, there is always a way forward. ๐Ÿ™

You Training as a facility manager, is great news as you journey through your career at work. As I found myself going from a worker to a Supervisor, then later into management, it does take up lots of time with work and study. I was fortunate that the Companies that I worked for supported me as I climbed the ladder through promotions, & I had the opportunity to gain management qualifications through work.

if you manage to stay on as a contracted employee, they give you training every year and the longer you are with them the more advanced it gets. i am quite familiar with my line managers role and his bosses duties, so i think the training is very useful because its another level but it does not mean i will be advancing any time soon. still i am grateful to be receiving it.

Nice one @liampie as sometimes it takes guts and determination to want to advance your career as you are doing. Training can be tedious at times especially if the content is matter of fact, laws and regulations.

i noticed chris walking to his seat from the steps near the chip van but i did not get to speak to him either. i dont think he would want anyone to be concerned but it is understandable.

i think chris will know that a lot of the community cares, but i am sure if he noticed messages like this and from tony that it would make him feel well supported. negativity can be difficult, but i dont think this season has been any more or less than previous years. i just hope that he manages to start to find a way to cope with his pain because it sounds like it makes everything else a lot worse.

I tried to explain the situation I find myself in, which I have hidden behind the spoiler below. I will try to get on a bit more even if it's hardly noticable but I can't make promises. I have spent the majority of today fast asleep, again explained below. It's good to see the community holding the torch, I know it's gone quiet but there is a lot of quality from what I have seen in my fleeting visit.

I will be at the game tomorrow, I have promised my friend who does try to drag me to games but unfortunately I haven't been well. It's a mixture of things, but nothing Notts related. All health and outside problems which I can't seem to get past right now. Saturday was the first game I have made in quite some time. It doesn't help with the postponed games as some of those I might have been able to get too.

It's not just pain, although it's highly likely the cause as to what is making me sleep a lot. It's a mixture of those two, and my condition in general.

The good thing is I feel happy, Christmas was somewhat difficult but that will always be the case.

I haven't had a chance to fix my laptop's keyboard, it's not something I fancy doing myself. It's too far into the machine, involving the motherboard to be removed and every other component underneath the keyboard. There's a large black spot to the right side now, which makes typing very frustrating. This isn't an excuse, but part of everything. I am using the Windows virtual keyboard to type this message.

There's some issues this retains from coding, which means bug fixing is complicated and I have also lost access to every site since Chrome updated and decided to corrupt. I am slowly getting back access, and yes this included me being locked out of PON. I couldn't remember what I changed my password, as I don't tend to rely on writing them down, but I will be from here. The password manager hasn't synced either between my desktop/laptop.

I haven't intended to make anyone worry, or be absent. I don't like being AWOL from the site, but I promised myself that my health does need taking more seriously and for the most part November to now has been extremely hard.

There's a lot of positives, despite this and I am hoping to get on my computer since my eldest daughter gave me her chair. I find it supports my back, and had looked to get one for Christmas but she decided that I could have it - as she went to get a different style.

Sitting upright is difficult though; even at games I tend to want to stand up a lot.

I'm sorry it's taken so long to update this, and please continue to do as you are. I appreciate the support, thought and fact nobody has given up because I just disappeared. You are all what makes PON special!

A very good performance by Notts today. A clean sheet for James Belshaw & a vital win for Notts. It was a game where Notts created numerous chances & the final score of 1:0 to Notts could have easily have been four or five to nil.

So who stood out for you today for Notts? I have chosen the starting eleven for you to choose your Man of the Match for Notts today.

Those players are:

Belshaw, Macari, Platt, Bedeau, Jones, Palmer, Norburn, Tsaroula, Grant, Iorpenda, Jatta.

Has anyone heard of any rumours, either players in or out? Iโ€™m slightly out of the loop as Iโ€™m not involved in any of the social media groups.

Seeing other teams in our league already getting a few in early doors.

Not expecting Notts to be bringing loads in- maybe 2-3, but also depends on any outgoings

Good morning, itโ€™s a very cold -3.8 outside and only 15 degrees inside as the heating hasnโ€™t kicked in yet. Weโ€™ve had another small amount of snow. Thankfully being retired Iโ€™m still under the duvet, I feel for those folk who have to go to work, school or college. Keep warm if you can.

We had a walk yesterday on the very icy pavements but we were wearing ice grippers on our shoes which proved a godsend. I can highly recommend them.

IMG_0327.jpeg

We have completed the signing of Harrogate Town goalkeeper James Belshaw for an undisclosed fee.

A lifelong Notts fan, Belshaw signs an 18-month contract at Meadow Lane.

Director of Football Richard Montague said: โ€œAs well as an obvious passion for the club, James brings vast experience and an impressive track record of winning promotions.

โ€œHeโ€™s been a very consistent performer over the course of his more than 200 EFL appearances and has been a hugely popular figure everywhere heโ€™s played, which reflects his character and professionalism.

โ€œThis move will obviously mean a lot to him and his family and weโ€™re delighted to help make his dream of playing for Notts a reality.โ€

Nottingham-born Belshaw grew up in Clifton and regularly attended our matches with his dad, grandad and brother โ€“ even celebrating his sixth birthday as a mascot at Meadow Lane.

The goalkeeping skills he demonstrated as a youngster for Clifton All Whites were spotted by our academy and he spent a number of years with us before his performances for Heanor Town earned him a contract with Walsall.

An outstanding performance against Chelsea in the FA Youth Cup then led to an offer of a scholarship at North Carolinaโ€™s Duke University, which in turn saw him drafted by MLS side Chicago Fire.

However Belshaw decided to return to the UK and build his career in non-league with Nuneaton and then Tamworth, before joining Harrogate Town and winning two promotions in three seasons as the North Yorkshire outfit rose from National League North to League Two.

  • i am happy and i do acknowledge that when we have seen him in goal against us, that he always does well in goal but i did feel it was a bit of a "please the fans signings" and that makes me nervous because we have had chances of signing him before. it makes me wonder why now? i feel for roos a bit, he is just prone to eccentricity. in the ideal world we would still have him competing and pushing belshaw to retain his space but i think the loan releases wages. perhaps roos is on a chunk we cant afford to have him in this situation.

it is nice to see more confident when teams attack, and that fans are fully behind belshaw. i think its a sensible signing, but i would add we should not settle and strengthen this area next season.

not to replace belshaw but so we have two capable first team keepers, with griffiths being able to gain experience.

Brilliant, thanks for sharing @Mapperley Pie! It's always fascinating to see what the outside world makes of us. And he was pretty thrilled with the setup and atmosphere. Not sure that a Turkish meal and a Budweiser are typical English though ;)

I just hit play to watch it, he's talking fast German except for the couple of interviews but the subtitles are OK if you can handle written German. But if you hit the YouTube button in the bottom right it'll take you to the YouTube site with an English AI voiceover.

It just popped up as these things do. Great isn't it? Not sure what Donald Trump would make of it ๐Ÿค”.

When we were last in the nest we had a very good Bratwurst from the pop up stand. Shame he missed it and had to settle for ๐Ÿ•.

This Saturday's fixtures will be posted in the next few minutes. Thanks for playing, see you all over there!

23 games gone, so half way through the season. Who are your players of the season so far?

Here are my top five as it stands (playing in at least half the games to qualify)

5) Tom Iorpenda (23 league appearances)

Being allowed to settle in CM, then getting his first senior goal has pushed him to a higher level. After a great start to the season, his form dipped but he's definitely shaken that off now. I don't see how the skipper and Robbo get straight back in.

4) Matty Palmer (16 league apperances)

Unrecognisable from last season's player. He's recovered his energy, positivity and consistency. Always looking for the ball and using it consistently well. Before his unfortunate injury, he got back to being the midfield general we all know

3) Lewis Macari (15 league appearances)

I think it's gone unnoticed how consistently well Macari has been playing. A solid defender and a composed, tidy passer of the ball.

2) Jacob Bedeau (23 league appearances)

An ever-present and another really consistent performer, especially defensively as a one-on-one defender. He's come in second for me and I still think he was marginally better last season under Maynard than this season.

1) Rod McDonald (12 league appearances)

IMO, nobody else has reached the level of consistent excellence as McDonald did in that dozen-game run of his. He was MoM or a strong contender for it every week. A great pity for him that he went out with the injury, and obviously he'll lose this standing to others playing now. But not yet, for me.

Who do other PON members have on their lists. I would've included Robbo but put in Iorpenda after tonight. Despite the goals I have Jatta and Dennis behind these 5, maybe because of a lack of consistency but I imagine most would have them in.

  • Show previous comments  3 more
  • This is really tricky because before McDonald, Palmer and Robertson got injured theyโ€™d have easily made my top 5โ€ฆ I do think number of matches played has be taken into account because those who have played more minutes really have helped get us to where we are in the table.

    5) Jatta, we know what we get from him in terms of goals but his defensive work and pressing is so valuable too.

    4) Iorpenda, been ever present in the team, versatile having played in both deep and attacking midfield roles. Never stops running and I love how he can just pick the ball up in midfield and breeze past players.

    3) Palmer, even with his recent injury heโ€™s played the 5th most minutes in League 2 for us so far. You realise how much we miss him when he's not there.

    2) Bedeau, think heโ€™s played every minute so far and has been very steady and reliable as our left sided centre-back.

    1) Dennis, signing of the season so far for me, heโ€™s really surprised me because I wasnโ€™t expecting him to be as good as he has been.

Honourable mentions for Tsaroulla, Hall and Macari who have all been impressive in this first half of the season too.

I thought I'd quickly revisit this topic the other side of our accidental winter break and now that a couple of players have dipped under my arbitrary 50% of games mark.

After responses from @Robbieย @menzinhoย @Michael D Pie.ย saying Matty Dennis has to be in the top 5, I thought I'd defer to their better judgment and put him in. But faced with the choices I just couldn't do it!

    5) Tom Iorpenda Being an ever-present maintaining such a high standard is remarkable for a young, inexperienced player. Credit to him

    4) Allesana Jatta If only he could hit this form every week. At his best, he makes a big contribution all over the pitch

    3) Lewis Macari so consistent, rarely less than a solid 6 out of ten, more often a good 7 out of ten

    2) Jacob Bedeau played virtually every minute. sews up our left-hand side single-handed

    1) Matty Palmer great to get him back, looks like he'll soon find the superb form he was in before his injury

For me it has primarily been a team effort that has Notts currently in sixth place just four points behind a promotion place after 23 games.

My top five, not any particular order, who have stood above the rest are.

    Matt Dennis, 22 appearances, 10 goals & 1 assist.
    Conor Grant, 22 appearances, 2 goals & 1 assist.
    Tom Iorpenda, 23 appearances, 2 goals & 4 assists.
Jacob Bedeau, 23 appearances & 1 assist. Captaining the side in Palmer's absence.
    Nick Tsaroulla, 21 appearances, 2 goals & 3 assists.

I think all of these players have performed at a consistent level over a large number of games.

There are also players who have played less games & played at a high level too, but I am looking for consistency over the largest number of games, so that is how I made my choice.

Iโ€™d agree with this list. McDonald is a very close 6th tbh.

A good workmanlike win for Notts today against a struggling Crawley side. A bit of individual brilliance from Jodi & a poachers goal from Jatta gave Notts the points. Notts were unfortunate to concede a late goal from a deflection, but getting back to winning ways will be welcome.

So who's your Man of the Match for Notts today? I have chosen the starting eleven for you to make your choice. Those players are.

Belshaw, Macari, Platt, Bedeau, Tsaroulla, Palmer, Norburn, Jones Grant, Iorpenda, Jatta.

  • A number of different candidates have been put forward so far seems to indicate that in what was a fairly scrappy game there was no real standout performer. A touch of quality from Jodi for the his goal was about it, but not enough for MOM. I'll add another to the mix and nominate Tom Iorpenda.

I'm pleased that Jodi scored with a screamer & Alassana had a good game. Platt was his usual self in defence & the team was solid defensively & unfortunate not to get a clean sheet.

I think I'm going to go for James Belshaw as my Man of the Match for Notts, because he made some vital saves on his debut, & it was an encouraging first game for him.

The Poll has closed. Thanks to all who voted. I am very pleased to announce that on his debut for Notts, James Belshaw has been voted the Pride of Nottingham's Man of the Match v Crawley. Great to see you make your mark for Notts straight away James.
