In agreement with Tom

ย

Tuesday is a bank holiday, so while you're all slogging away at work (or doing pensioner things, like smoking a pipe) I'm going to put my feet up and be lazy. More importantly, we have a prediction league round on: these fixtures kick off at 7.45pm on Tuesday night, so get your predictions in by then and remember your joker! The scores for the previous round will be posted this evening once I've dusted down my abacus.

Ipswich Town v Hull City

Plymouth Argyle v Millwall

Blackpool v Derby County

Bolton Wanderers v Stevenage

Crewe Alexandra v Gillingham

Morecambe v Accrington Stanley

Altrincham v Aldershot

Dagenham & Redbridge v York City

The match weโ€™ve been waiting for since our return to the league, a sell out crowd, Notts top, Mansfield unbeaten, what a match it promises to be, I just hope the players donโ€™t get hyped up by the atmosphere and make any silly mistakes. I also hope the fans on both sides behave themselves and we have an enjoyable match thatโ€™s safe for everyone. Iโ€™ll be going with grandson @George Lย we are both really looking forward to it.

COME ON YOU PIES!

What line-up should Luke Williams opt for? What will be the key areas for the Magpies to get a victory? What do you think the final score will be?

  • Right, so we've scored 49 goals between us and we're letting in 2 goals a game on average. It's going to be 0-0, isn't it?

I'm a bit nervous as this'll be the biggest test we've had so far, and on the back of a chastening experience in Essex. But it's up to the players to pick themselves up, cut out the silly errors and show their quality. They deserve our faith and support; let's get behind them and NOT jump on their backs. We are a newly promoted team and were always bound to be taught a lesson every now and then. Hopefully we can take Saturday's on board quickly.

@DangerousSausageย Considering how both teams possess the ability to score effortlessly, I believe a 3-3 draw is more probable. However, it depends on whether the players can comprehend the situation. I think we will be more motivated for the game. If Luke Williams doesn't address the players with a statement like, "You are at the top of the league for a reason. The pressure will always be on your shoulders, but it's crucial to respond and handle it. Stay focused, work hard, and enjoy the game. The only thing that can prevent us from winning is failing to take responsibility when necessary. You are capable of achieving this." Or something along those lines.

In the first 20-30 minutes, we should get a sense of how the game is progressing. If Notts donโ€™t challenge Swindon Town enough and the first half ends 0-0, it might be the first game where we hear complaints from more than just the Pavis Stand. We simply need to be at our very best, as clear chances will likely be scarce.

Notts take on Swindon on Tuesday night.ย

How many links can we find between the two clubs.

Iโ€™ll start you off with probably the most obvious one Luke Williams.

Who else can we find?

I know he's had an unfortunate start to his Notts career after picking up an injury during pre-season but by all accounts he's now fit and just waiting for that chance. I wonder how long he'll have to wait though. If the idea was that he'll play at wingback he's now surely 3rd choice (on both sides) behind Chicksen & Adebayo. Maybe he's being trained behind the scenes to play in the central attacking role behind the striker, I just don't know.

With a little bit of rotation likely, he could well feature against Swindon and then I'd get my answer but right now I'm struggling to see how and where he gets into the team.

  • The performance wasn't bad, but the defending and Aidan Stone's passing were the problems. I think Luke Williams should tell the players not to always try to play the ball out from the back. I can see when it is useful and effective, but when a team presses and tries to win the ball, it can lead to problems. Look at the playoff final against Chesterfield. They came out trying to score early and it caused us problems. I don't know why we can't identify these problems before they become a problem, like we saw against Colchester United.

@menzinhoย That's a valid point, I had forgotten about Baj. He seemed to be improving in his position, and while I have great admiration for Jim O'Brien, he doesn't possess the same playing style as them. I'm not implying that Jim isn't deserving of a starting position, but there is a suitable time and place for it. In my opinion, Colchester wasn't that team.

These matches kick off at 3pm on Saturday, let's be having you! And remember your joker!

Norwich City v Birmingham City

QPR v Coventry City

Port Vale v Bolton Wanderers

Reading v Burton Albion

Gillingham v Mansfield Town

Salford City v Newport County

Halifax Town v Eastleigh

Rochdale v Southend United

If you arenโ€™t a season ticket holder and want a ticket for the Mansfield game Iโ€™d grab one now they are going fast. I got two online for me and grandsonย @George Lย and seats were disappearing as I looked online.

Itโ€™s the weekend again, Iโ€™m sure itโ€™s eagerly awaited for all you workers or students, I know I always looked forward to it when I worked.

What plans have you all got? Some will no doubt be travelling to see the Super Notts so safe travels and bring back the points.

Tonight being Friday I will be enjoying Mrs. Tโ€™s famous curry, this time itโ€™s Lamb and Spinach and Iโ€™ll wash it down with my first pint of the week. Tonight we are watching a film on Prime called The Lost Flowers of Alex Hart, which has been recommended to us.

Tomorrow itโ€™s Park Run day, then we are visiting a kitchen shop to finalise the plans for our revamped kitchen, in the afternoon Iโ€™ll be glued to Radio Nottingham.

Whats everyone else up to?
