Welcome to Pon hope you enjoy your time with us.

  5. Schofield 5.5 did well, some good saves but needed something special when Jennings beat him

Rose 6 Solid, does what it says on the tin...pity a hard cross wasnt connected with

Barclay 6 one real good challenge in first half, better of the two

    Stubbs 5 some wayward headers

    Milsom 5 nothing extravagant

Doyle 5 was it a poor header that allowed Tranmere to break and score?

    OBrien 6.5 Vocal, driven

Boldewijn 5 more subdued than normal

CMS 6.5 all effort , good touch

Stead 5 Ref gave him nothing all game

Hemmings 4 Awful touch, couldnt keep the ball in play on numerous through balls

    Subs

Gomis 6 unlucky with a flicked shot

Allesandra 3 Cannot beat a man, always checks

  6. Back down to Earth with a crash. Bit of perspective for us.

Schofield - 4.5 - Not commanding, too slow coming off his line and you can see his CBs don't trust him.
    Rose - 5 - Can't say he did a lot wrong.
Stubbs - 3 - Lost the fight with Newport's big lads.
    Barclay - 3 - See Stubbs.
Milsom - 3 - Lost the aerial duel which was where the match was won.

Enzio - 5 - Largely anonymous. A few good runs.
Doyle - 3 - Looked tired. Usual bite and passing not on it today.
O'Brien - 6.5 - MOM - Good touches, some wayward passing. Good shots.
Alessandra - 1 - Absolute rubbish. Gave the ball away constantly, left passes short.

Gomis - 4 -  Anonymous. Touch is dire.
Hemmings - 2 - Demonstrated exactly why he's on the bench. Will stay there the way he's played. Negative attitude.

Stead - 5.5 - Came on and showed how much we miss him when he's not on the pitch
    CMS - 5.5 - See Stead.

  7. It's funny how things work out

Notts didn't lose a league game against Mansfield between 1964 and 2002 (38 years)

Now Notts haven't won a Nottinghamshire derby in 13 years

Mansfield hadn't won a league game at Meadow Lane for 47 years

Now Notts haven't beaten them at the Lane for 20 years

This'll be the first time since Notts returned to League 2, that Mansfield will have the better form going into a derby at Field Mill

Also, due to Notts' recent woes against them, it means they have the better head to head record overall

We were 10 seconds away from beating them in January

I don't think it'll be on Saturday but surely our fortunes have got to change in this fixture soon

  8. Saturday's Fixtures:
Aston Villa v West Bromwich Albion
Preston North End v Nottingham Forest
    Coveentry City v Walsall
    Oxford United v Peterborough United
    Exeter City v Bury
    Port Vale v Morecambe

    Mine
Aston Villa 2-2 West Bromwich Albion
Preston North End 2-1 Nottingham Forest
    Coventry City 2-0 Walsall (Joker)
    Oxford United 1-3 Peterborough United
    Exeter City 1-1 Bury
    Port Vale 1-0 Morecambe

  9. Game 30 - The Exiles (H)

    Team: Newport County

    Date: 19/02/19

    Where: Meadow Lane

What line-up should Neal Ardley opt for? What will be the key areas for the Magpies to get a victory? What do you think the final score will be?

Poor defensively, the inexperience showed massively and I felt the two young centre backs was at fault as they left their areas wide open to be exploited. Too much space and time I am afraid.

I'm annoyed and disappointed, very poor performance and it could have been different. 3 points dropped to a relegation candidate like ourselves just seems poor. First game in which I did but I left early. I couldn't accept it.

Terrible defending cost the game, just mistakes after mistakes. Nobody at the back had a good game and I refuse to believe that Rob Milsom is the best left back that the club has. I would rather see Cedric Evina in there, he's far better going forward.

The games over for them but im sure they r still moaning about losing to us for once instead of being big headed.

We seem to have played better than we have today

  11. Schofield 6 Rarely troubled as well protected from the defence in front. Only real fault was a punch for a ball perhaps he should have caught. One woeful kick

Rose 8 Has plugged the gaping hole at Right Back this season. Great length on throw ins and assured in defence

Stubbs / Barclay share  7.5 Never expected a young cenre half pairing to do it's job so well. What is impressive is how they move the line, to compress space, very disciplined, Stubbs vocal when needed

Milsom 7  Defensively did his job well, it's a case of no mistakes at the back, so not to get caught going forward

O'Brien / Doyle share 7.5 Maybe O'Brien had the better game but as a pair, they are solid in midfield and didn't flinch an inch

Boldewijn 7 Heavily marked so had one of his least effective games. One good shot on lay off by Gomis

CMS 8 Reminders of Lee Hughes work rate...Great shot for the goal but does so much winning the midfield balls

Stead 6.5 Ref didnt seem to give him any protection.

Gomis 5.5 Frightened their back line with his pace, but his lack of a good touch or shooting prowess ...perhaps I was expecting more from a Championship player

    Subs

Hemmings 6.5 Couldnt connect with a great cross towards the end

Alessandra 5.5 Chose the wrong option on a couple of occasions, tends too lose the ball too easily

As a team, rating at 8..... we look like a team that can compete now...

Who was your Man of the Match for Notts County's League Two home game against Mansfield Town?

  13. Ross Fitzsimons or Ryan Schofield?

I stand by my comments that Schofield doesn't get praised for the difference he makes, whilst some made comments that if we didn't sign a keeper in January, Notts would end up relegated. This seems to have been forgotten, football is such a fickle sport. If Fitzsimons starts on Saturday and concedes 3 or more, I am sure excuses would be made.

"It was a big game", "He had no defence". "Difficult game with too much pressure." or "He's not played for awhile."

Where's I do feel many who voice negatives against Schofield are just being petty or critical.

Scholfield isn't a cult hero, he's done nothing to warrant that but he's helped to improve things. The cult hero status was Fitzsimons last season when mindless people wanted Adam Collin replaced [only to want him back this season]. Fickle sport as I said.

  14. Such a funny article in regards to ex notts player Jorge grant.

Mansfield boss wants the ref to give Jorge grant more protection against fouls ahead of the game against Notts County.

    Like thats going to happen....

  16. Just out of interest,
