I don't think some of the more extreme doom and gloom is justified after 13 points in 6 games, but it is frustrating to work ourselves into an extremely promising position, only to slip back again.

Maybe not, but let's take our last 3 results:

0-0 to Stockport - lucky to draw
0-1 to Chesterfield - correct result (they didn't create anything else and neither did we)
0-1 to us v Kings Lynn - lucky to get anything, never mind a win.

That's 4 points in 3 games, but in reality without a large slice of lady luck, it should have been only 1 point or maybe 0.

In all 3 games we have created next to nothing. The only goal we scored was out of nowhere from Jake Reeves and he won't be producing them very often. The only reason our defence stats look good is because we got lucky v Stockport and KL.

@DangerousSausage its obvious that notts struggles to keep consistent when games are postponed, i doubt its all that but the fact the midfield needs to be more creative in the centre of the park. i dont think the doom and gloom is fully justified but i understand that performances need to be better.

its just one of those patches though.

notts are the type of team to have this rough spell and somehow still manage to push on for promotion. im not worried, neal ardley is still the right man for me.

Pilling - 6 - Dropped a couple again, took too many risks with ball at his feet again, made a couple of good saves again.

DKE - 5.5 - Not as good as he has been previously. Not enough contribution going forward.
Lacey - 7 - Dominated.
Rawlinson - 8 - Colossal.
Barnet - 5 - Felt like Walker had the beating of him. Distribution poor at times and caught out positionally also.

Enzio - 5.5 - He was OK, but rarely threatened.
Doyle - 6.5 - Did his job well. Didn't give them too much space and passed well when he could.
Roofe - 5.5 - A bit more athleticism, but also his distribution was poor at times. Ran past the line on occasion.
O'Brien - 5.5 - He was decent, but unspectacular.

Wootton - 5.5 - Feel sorry for him as his only service really was being hoofed up to him, but didn't win anything.
Rodrigues - 5.5 - Again, feel sorry for him as rarely given quality ball in space.

Roberts - N/A - don't think he touched the ball, but great to see him back.
Knowles - N/A - don't think he touched the ball.

Ardley tactics - 3 - Some might see that as a point gained. I just don't see us winning the league if we can't beat that Stockport team. They can't score, neither can we and that's the sort of game you get. Too above average sides play out a bore draw.

A note for their commentators. I think they should have had about 27 penalties if their co-commentator was anything to go by, including for fouls done by their own players. Baffling attempt at being objective, despite repeatedly claiming to be. Highlight was when he repeated praise for the freekick, saying Pilling was nowhere near it.... he was right, because it was a good 4 feet the wrong side of the post and it hit the advertising board.

For their goal, it's impossible to tell if Rooney was offside. I initially thought he looked offside, but despite their repeated claims that another player was onside, then later saying Rooney was onside too, they never showed us anything close to an angle that would've told you. Normally I'd take their word for it, but as they were so biased throughout, I'll reserve judgement.

Why did they think that was a great game to watch? It wasn't! It was terrible. I can't remember a decent passage of play, all the chances came through swinging balls in with the wind, hardly Barcelona.

As Albert Camus once said, "the struggle itself towards the heights is enough to fill a man's heart". In that vein, here's the PON prediction league. These matches kick off at 7pm on Tuesday, and remember your jokers!

Am i right in thinking this is the first bit of business Notts have ever done with Salford City?... We have signed many players over the years, is there any clubs left that we have never done business with?

It seems that from 17th May fans will be allowed back in football grounds.  It will be limited to 10,000 or 25% of stadium capacity, whichever is smaller.  That means we could get almost 5,000 for our final home game against Weymouth on May 22nd.  Hopefully this is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Just wondering if anybody has seen any official figures about the live streaming.... I personally have watched all the games home and away and on the whole have been satisfied with this service...... Any information would be appreciated...

Derby day. Notts won away 3-2. Notts were 2-1 down in the 90th minute. 2 goals in injury time turned the game on its head and the Pies returned to Nottingham with all 3 points. Chesterfield are unbeaten in 3 but they haven't played since January 30th so they are bound to be rusty. Notts are flying and have the winning habit. I think it could be a tough game. Chesterfield will be well up for it but Notts have momentum. It could be a cracking game. 4-2 to Notts is my prediction.

We're getting to the business end of the season (or at least The Proper Leagues are), so get your predictions in and get some points! Kick-off is 3pm on Saturday, and remember your jokers...

Bristol City v Barnsley

Reading v Middlesbrough

Ipswich Town v Oxford United

Doncaster Rovers v Hull City

Newport County v Forest Green Rovers

Salford City v Carlisle United

Altrincham v Boreham Wood

Eastleigh v Stockport County

Pilling - 1 - It wasn't just one thing. He's small, Chesterfield identified that and piled the pressure on and he couldn't cope. He has to stop the goal. Kicking awful and taking lots of risks with the ball at his feet, at one point trying (unsuccessfully) to dribble past their striker. Stockport will target him.

Kelly-Evans - 4 - Part of a back 4 bullied by Chesterfield in the first half.
Rawlinson - 4 - As above.
Lacey - 3 - The worst of the back 4. Hoofing to nobody first half.

Miller - 3.5 - He's still not a defender. Crap distribution.

Doyle - 3 - Too slow.
Reeves - 3 - Too slow and not enough quality.

Rodrigues - 2 - Incredibly poor. Lost the ball repeatedly. Delivery never beat the first man.
Enzio - 6 - The only one who escapes that **** show with any credibility. Beat his man, final ball lacking.

Sam - 3 - He's not good enough.

Wootton - 4.5 - He was OK. Linked up some play, missed half chances (didn't even contact the ball).

Knowles - 4 - Rubbish
Effiong - 2 - Donkey.

Ardley's tactics - 0 - Awful. 3 immobile centre backs and Ardley's first half tactic: hoof it up to the three tree trunks. Surprisingly they dealt with that easily.

I didn't see the automatic topic for this game so I have added it.

There's a saying you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig. So I can say nice things about Kings Lynn but the truth is, they are a poor side at this level. They have lost their last 3 games. They have conceded 38 goals in 18 games. That's 24 more goals than Notts have conceded in the same number of games! They took the cover off the pitch and the surface looks well which will suit Notts's style of play. I'm going for 3-0 to Notts.

Hi again - alleviate some of those lockdown blues by predicting some scores. You know you want to. Kick-off is 3pm on Saturday, and you get a joker each!

Since early 2013, the Pride of Nottingham has flourished as a fan site dedicated to Notts County Football Club.

I'm pleased to say that our host has assisted us with moving to a brand-new server, which performs a lot better than our previous one. The migration didn't take as long as thought, however, DNS propagation is still happening in some parts of the world.

The majority of visitors will be absolutely fine, with the UK, Germany, United States, Ireland and Italy all being settled.

Our old server had reached its end of life in terms of support, so the move was crucial to keeping things smooth.

Please be patient if you experience any downtime.

Pilling 7 The odd dodgy moment but pulled out a first class save when it mattered

DKE 6.5 Industrious but couldnt make the higher up play matter

Rawlinson 7.5 MotM Put the head where it mattered

Lacey 6 a quieter game but another clean sheet

Barrett 6.5 Stepped into left back role effortlessly. Had more room up field than DKE though some crosses could and should have been better

Doyle 6.5 more apparent how he makes space to receive the ball to get things moving

Reeves 7 a wonder strike matched by the work rate

Rodrigues 5.5 Marked by 2 players so getting room to play was difficult for him

Enzio 5.5 Needed more creative thrust. Seemed to lose possession when getting close to their area

Knowles 5 Found it difficult to get into the game at times

Wootton 6.5 More points for hold up play than goal threat, missed one golden chance with a free header

during a recent interview when inoh effiong arrived at meadow lane, he mentioned that he can hold the ball up but is a different player than just someone who just holds play up. he mentioned that he likes to create space for others by using his own movement which make me think that its something notts does not really do much at the moment.

we are far to direct imo, i think we miss cal roberts wanting to rip the pitch up and being direct.

enzio when hes able to take on players and supply that perfect assist.

so i ask, how can neal ardley get the best out of the chances we create? how do you think notts could be more creative on goal?

Be careful: Kings Lynn chairman is on twitter asking for somebody to operate their cameras for the streaming service (for free). Something to consider before you give them your money, it might not even be on.

Their chairman seems like a tinpot Alan Hardy.

Opinions? Will the move to 6pm help the game or will we all be sitting there  at around 5pm checking Twitter to see the inevitable...not what we wanted but...

Pity no camera angel on the other side of the net for Ruben's goal, it looks like his shot was moving through the air.

Quality goals to appreciate

I think Kelly-Evans would be my last choice. Absolutely fearless, but I’d be shooting from the halfway line if I saw him in goal!

I know what you mean, first thought is to get someone bigger there but the likes of Rawlinson and Wootton are too influential. Considering the formation we switched too Doyle ended up being the ideal choice.

No way, Kelly-Evans may be only 5 feet tall, but he's 10 feet tall when he jumps!  When Rodrigues took the green shirt first, I thought it was the best option because he seemed to have the height and agility.  What do I know?  If he had gone between the sticks we wouldn't have seen that stunning second goal.

Well that was rather pleasant, wasn't it?! Leaving two up front and staying positive was definitely the right decision, but to be fair it was also the only decision - parking the bus for 70 plus minutes with an outfield player in goal would have just been an invitation for the visitors to pepper the area with crosses and shots. Great stuff from the whole team. Meadow Lane would have been bouncing.

I hope we can take some momentum from this, and fingers crossed for Luke Pilling in goal over the next few games (those FA Trophy appearances should come in handy now). Unless Schmeichel Doyle wants another go? :D

Looking at the table, we're now 11 points behind Torquay with 4 games in hand. In terms of points per game, we're potentially a win away from catching them. And PPG could matter this season.

very good result, when slocombe got sent off i thought it would end in defeat or a draw at the least.

ruben did very well to smash his goal in, kyle is starting to crop up where needed but his 2nd was a stunner in its own right. i thought doyle did well in goal, perhaps not as much as some keep banging on but if it annoys dagenham then it worth it. great result.
