  1. Has anyone noticed the proliferation (good word) of football players with beards? I was watching football on the telly at the weekend and both on match of the day and on the football league show I saw several players sporting full beards. Not goatee beards or five o'clock shadow but real full on bushy beards. Is it a fashion at the moment?

I know a lot of players are doing Movember but that is moustaches, the players I am talking about have real beards, one in particular is the goalkeeper of a premiership side, I can't remember the club or his name but he has a full black beard and a bald head!! What's all that about? He looks as if his head is on upside down. :joker:

Anyone else notice this and more importantly can you explain the phenomenon? (another good word I must stop reading that dictionary). B)

  2. Not that i'm really bothered (Actually, i'm ecxtatic), but just thought i'd ask anyway. Has anyone seen any post's on that board since the 20th.

WHat an opportunity for PON to take off, and I can see it already with the amount of Welcomes lol

    Keep up the Great work

  3. New members coming thick and fast now, welcome @macstop I hope you will enjoy visiting this friendly community, come and say hello. :waving:

  4. Notice Regarding festive football fixtures

Just a quick notice regarding the next few rounds. Obviously this time of year is really buisy for football, and that means its going to be really buisy in the Prediction League.

This weekend will be the final round before Chrirstmas. Round 21 takes place Boxing Day. I will put the fixtures up on Monday so that it gives everyone a few days to get their predictions in.

Round 22 takes place on 29th December and I will post the fixtures for that round on the 27th.
Round 23 takes place on New Years Day and the fixtures will be posted on the 30th.

Round 24 takes place on Saturday 4th January, fixtures will be posted on the 2nd.

Hopefully that all makes sense. Just be sure to keep checking back, thought I'd put a quick notice up as I don't want  people missing out.

    Anyway, onto this Saturday!

    This Saturday's fixtures:

    Burnley v Blackpool

    Reading v Wigan Athletic

    Preston North End v Brentford

    Swindon Town v Coventry City

    Hartlepool United v Burton Albion

    Scunthorpe United v Morecambe

    Good luck everyone :)

  5. Two teams who would no doubt believe they'd have done better so far this season, Notts have some momentum and the home advantage (get behind them magpies!). Bristol City have the 'new' manager and have yet to really impress them, Steve's first game came in the F.A Cup against Tamworth and they wasn't all that impressive - 2-1 the result but anyone who watched the game would have seen very good chances fell to Tamworth who was somewhat lacking in the final third.

Back to back wins, I'm chuffed to be typing this! Can we make it a third win in a row?

Well, Bristol City are dangerous going forward and can boss the game. We on the other hand have the tools to counter them, the speed of Grealish, JCR and McGregor will cause them problems. Their defence is quite wobbly, so we can rock them further by making sure we send them home with what the UK usually scores in the Eurovision Song Contest! Nil -0.

Let us know your thoughts, it really matters! :D COYP!!

  6. This is a special appeal on behalf of all parties involved in the care of those most vulnerable in our football community

This Christmas time please take the time to find those less fortunate than yourself and offer your full support and continued help with their terrible affliction - Supporting Nottingham Forest - we all know that this can be a disturbing illness that leads to ideas of grandeur and wealth.

All charities both local and in the borough of Rushcliffe would like us all to help them move forward towards a brighter tomorrow, even if that means taking initial small steps in recovery and supporting Derby.

Today is bright, lets us all hope tomorrow is brighter.

  7. So what is on the menu for you this Christmas?

Turkey, goose, duck, beef, pork, chicken or maybe beans on toast.

We are having turkey, we have tried duck and goose before but there is never enough on it. I love to have the turkey around for days just picking at it and making sandwiches etc.,

    What are you having?

  10. So what is your favourite Christmas Film?

Mine is Scrooge the musical from 1970 starring Albert Finney as Scrooge. We have got it on DVD (one of the few DVD's we own) and have to watch it every Christmas otherwise it doesn't seem like Christmas.

I also like to read A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens every Christmas too, it's obviously the same story as the film but is well worth a read this time of year.

So what is your favourite Christmas film?

  11. There seems to be a bit a of a fad at the moment for Christmas jumpers, they are all over the shops and seem to be popular.

Now, is it me or is this just too ridiculous for words, if I buy an item of clothing I want to be able to wear it for more than just a few days!! I mean you would look a bit silly wearing a Christmas jumper in March wouldn't you?

    Waste of money...................bah humbug. :hohoho:

  12. Did anyone else watch Mansfield v Oldham the other night, I was interested to see that Oldham had Michael Petrasso playing for them and he looked very useful, he was linked with Notts not long ago, shame we didn't get him.

He played a major role in Oldham's 4-1 win.

  13. I have to say I don't really understand @Dan, I mean he was acting very strange at Colchester. I picked up my mobile and recorded him for a short while, I consider myself to be lucky because I really obtained an exclusive here.

It's yours to watch, I'm not protecting anyone!

  14. I didn't go to last Saturdays match but my next door neighbour did and he bought me a programme for the match, I have been reading it today and in Colin Slater's column he said that Tony Hateley was very ill and "fighting for his life".

My thoughts are with Tony and I really hope he pulls through.

  15. Here's a fun little question... (Join in if you read this)

Can you share a youtube video of a song that you can relate to? This perhaps might not be what the songs about. Just add the 'share' link inside the text area here and leave a little snippet as to why you relate to it.

Now this songs about being young and drinking, I relate to the lyrics in a different way. I have never been big on drinking but parts like 'I thought I could make it on my own - I thought I was indestructible' and 'I couldn't admit I was wrong - I didn't fit in, I didn't belong'. Obviously this is me being quite open. On another day I could share something much more uplifting I am sure but I'd like you to have a go.

I see this as being a neat way to getting to know the community. Go on, leave a youtube video/song below :)

  16. Back to the usual two fixtures from each league this weekend.

    This weekend's fixtures:

    AFC Bournemouth v Birmingham City

    Doncaster Rovers v Leeds United

    Bradford City v Leyton Orient

    Sheffield United v Swindon Town

Oxford United v Dagenham & Redbridge

    Rochdale v Fleetwood Town

    Good luck everyone :)

  17. Guys n Gals

Please make a post in support of this wonderful woman on LFC online, just honoured with the Helen Rollason Award.

Such a shame that god cut her life short, she didn't see the justice she fought for.

    Love from PoN xx

the thread is Anne Williams tribute.

  18. So Notts travel to Colchester tomorrow in the hope that we can start a bit of a run going after last Saturday's welcome win.

This in my opinion is definitely a match we can win and at least should be looking at getting a point.

    I am going for a 1-0 win.

    What are other thoughts?

  19. Ok it's well into December now so I think I can mention the C word without any fear of reprimand.

Mrs. H. and I have been married for 38 years now and at Christmas time we run out of ideas what to buy each other so last year we had the bright idea of buying a present for ourselves but not telling each other what it is we are buying. This way we get what we really want and we get a surprise when we see what the other half has bought.

Christmas morning last year I opened Mrs. H's present to herself and she opened mine, neither knew what we were opening.

So we had the bizarre sight of me opening a sewing machine and Mrs. H opened my ipod.

We thought it was such a good idea we are doing it again this year. Does anyone else do this or is it just us that are crazy?

  20. Well I have contacted the club (Mrs T) to see if anybody would be interested in a lovely piece of embroidery.

The lady who created the piece is a friend, and did mention that if the price was right she would consider selling.

It quite rightly won "Best in Show" up here this year, the photo doesn't really do it justice, the detail and colours are amazing.

Do you think this is something that would interest anybody else?

  21. How are we all today? (or when you read this)

What have you been up to? how are you finding this festive period? Are you excited?

I've had my assessment today, went better than I had hoped and I am starting to get in the festive spirit even more. Sadly I have been very busy and finding it hard to sit in one position for any length good enough to visit certain sites - I should use my mobile more! I expect I am not the only who's busy or finding other things cropping up.

I can't wait for Christmas, Jake, Ellie and Ava will be delighted! I hope everyone's families also have a great time this year.

Quite glad that we've got the shopping sorted! So, it's just a case of relaxing and trying to take things a little easy.

    Hope you're all okay :)

  22. Delroy is one of the 6 men arrested in connection with the betting syndicate investigation.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/10479667/Football-match-fixing-six-arrested-by-police-investigating-betting-syndicate-as-rigging-hits-British-game.html

I hope this has nothing to do with any of ours. Whoever, a lifetime ban, should suffice.

Denying the fans of an honest and open game is the biggest crime of them all.

  23. Well this year, I am expecting a book for Crimble.

When asked what I would like, the fist thing that came into the old wooden top was:

    Steak Diana Ross.

    Here is hoping...

I told Mrs PTID (galley slave etc etc) to purchase aforementioned prized gift, from t' club shop, not that Brazilian sounding company, that dodges it's taxes.

    We shall see.

  24. Hello Guys, Ian here(Millers fan), just some thoughts on League One's game of the day this coming Saturday, well, the only one....lol.

From reports I read & heard, Notts turned in a much improved display & were unlucky to lose against Brentford last weekend. At the same time, we were in the process of murdering the Gills 4-1 at NYS. Gillingham couldn't really have complained if it'd been 7 or 8-1, such was our domination of the game.

If Notts can maintain the calibre of performance this Saturday v the Gills, surely the three points are there for the taking, & narrowing the gap at the bottom.

I'm predicting a 3-1 win for Notts, so good luck Pies.....

  25. Due to it being FA Cup 2nd round weekend, there's only one game each in both Leagues 1 & 2, so instead of two fixtures from each league we'll have three Championship fixtures, and 3 cup fixtures. The first three are the Championship fixtures.

    This weekend's fixtures:

Brighton & Hove Albion v Leicester City

    Millwall v Wigan Athletic

Queens Park Rangers v Blackburn Rovers

    Bristol Rovers v Crawley Town

    Hartlepool United v Coventry City

Wycombe Wanderers v Preston North End

    Good luck everyone :)
