Shaun Derry targets two players as board backs signings.

"I am very satisfied with what I want to do. The board has given me their full backing and these conversations started two or three weeks ago. Whoever comes in has to be better than what we already have otherwise it defeats the object."

If we can tinker around with the loan players we have, then we wouldn't need many 'fresh' faces and perhaps two could do. I would like to see a defensive midfielder signed, most we have are offensive and only Alan Smith or perhaps Hayden Mullins but a striker and DM would be my preference.

We could loan a winger, right back provided the funds permit.

I'd give Cassidy the chance to return to Wolves, he does try but I think we could find better.

Thoughts?

His goal scoring record isn't bad within League 1/2. He is rumoured to be exiting his loan spell with AFC Wimbledon, with Portsmouth, Bristol Rovers and Luton Town supposedly interested.

I can't see Bournemouth wanting him or avoiding putting him back on the loan market.

A few years back his name kept cropping up with us, would you take him on?

Like it says...

IT IS SNOWING WOO HOO!

A real Xmas at last.

Please join me in wishing 4everapie a very happy birthday.Have a good one.

@Blackville and I are going tonight. He's not been to Pride Park before.

I can remember going to this game in 1975 with a Leeds supporting friend, standing in the pop side.  Two very good, but dirty teams, lots of fights, sendings off, great goals, diving (Charlie George, Peter Lorimer, Francis Lee - nothing's new in this game), dreadful pitch, over-full ground, dreadful paper programme, great atmosphere. All in all - proper football!!

Bradford City are one of them teams I strongly dislike, I'll openly admit that. It could be their fans or something else, I don't know but I just do. For this reason I want Notts to crush them and their glory supporting fans (they're a big club don't you know).

I do respect them, what they achieved in the League Cup was special and how they made it to the Premiership ALL THOSE YEARS ago.

Also I liked Neil Redfearn as a player, so back then they had a few which I did but I've never really liked the club.

It's another tough game, one which Jones and Thompson will have to be wanting to win against surely? I see us being able to beat them provided we stick at what we do and attack them, chances will come but my only concern is surrounding the backlash of missing good chances. I'd dream of 5-0 (never going to happen), I'll take 1-0 to us.

Thoughts?

Who scored pon's goal of the month?

I always check lifeline to see if I have won, today I looked and saw the name Hateley against a £50 win, my heart skipped a beat until I realised that is not my real name.

I think my alter ego is starting to take over, I was in the supermarket car park the other day and someone shouted "Tony" and I looked round. :joker:

Well here we are, the end of another year. Our year has been mixed with some highs and some very low points but we look forward to a new year full of hope that it will be a good one.

Tonight we won't be going anywhere to celebrate but will prepare a nice meal and at midnight we will probably be in bed reading but we will have a glass of wine to toast the new year.

What's your year been like? If you are celebrating what will you be doing? Whatever you do stay safe and have a good one.

Crystal Palace have sacked Neil Warnock this morning, I bet Shaun is glad he didn't join him there.

It's good that Ellie and Jake both realize this is spot on...

Today was superb from the fans I see on match day, I love the banter and laugh (it really cheers me up).

You Pies!

Welcome @johnboy, I'm pleased to see you have arrived on here mate.

I thought I might have known by 'JohnBoy' which fan it was, however I was wrong. Yet that said, I'm pleased. Thanks for joining us John, would you tell the community a little about yourself buddy? Hope to see you on from time to time.

Merry Christmas!

Hello and welcome to @jonnyt.I hope you enjoy your time with us.

I'll start with Borussia.

Bundesliga: Currently 4th - in the "Champions League" play-off spot. Settle for that of even 5th or 6th at the end of the season. However, the commitments of the German Cup (away to Kickers Offenbach in the 1/8th final) and the Europa League (Sevilla in the 1/16th final) may prove too much for the club's squad. Gladbach have a lot less money than the other current top 5 clubs, as well as some lower down, e.g. Dortmund and Hoffenheim. Good management and good coaching can only take you so far these days. The defence got very creaky without Martin Stranzl towards Christmas.

That said, a great first half, home crowds averaging 50 000, still selling out every away game in Germany and Europe (e.g. over 10 000 went to Zurich on a Thursday night in October).

Whilst the title race is just about over, FCB go to Wolfsburg on the opening day of the 'Ruckrunde', the interest is at the bottom with 5 'Traditionsvereine' (Traditional Clubs) in the bottom 6 and the Goat-worshippers not far above, HSV have huge money problems and Stuttgart are badly run behind the scenes, but I expect Doofmund to escape.

And no I don't mean the o especially on Tony H's boat!

It's still manic out there. Even in places like Pets at Home this afternoon where I decided to treat the must to new extendable lead, there are people pushing and shoving all over the place. Car parks are full.

Come on people. Give it a rest now so I can get back to my little shopping trips, not major bloody events.

Derby County sign Aston Villa striker on loan

_80019720_pa-10162014.jpg Derby County have signed out-of-favour Aston Villa striker Darren Bent on loan until the end of the season.

The 30-year-old England international has just ended a loan spell at Championship rivals Brighton, where he scored two goals in four games.

Bent previously played under Rams boss Steve McClaren in the England side.

"He knows where I play, so it's a case of me just bedding in, trying to get involved and scoring as many goals as I can," Bent told BBC Radio Derby.

"I wanted to come here and be part of something that could be special."

Bent, who has 13 England caps, made eight appearances for Premier League side Villa this term, seven of which came as substitute.

He is set to make his Rams debut against former side Ipswich Town on 10 January.

"Darren has scored goals wherever he has been during his career and we believe he can contribute on the field for us," McClaren told the club website. "He adds to our already excellent attacking options."

The former Charlton, Tottenham man has scored 25 goals in 72 appearances for Villa since a £24m move from Sunderland in January 2011, but has not been a regular under Paul Lambert and spent last season on loan at Fulham.

Derby sit third in the table, one place below Ipswich and two points outside the automatic promotion places.

He's become a shallow part of his former self, he used to be underrated and then overrated but he's a quality striker. I think Derby will get the most out of him, now which Ram's strikers could we perhaps pinch?

No seriously, what do you think of this?

Notts County duo Kyle Dixon and Greg Tempest set to extend Boston United loan deals.

Dixon's and Tempest's deals expired last Saturday, however our magpie pair look very likely to extend their stay with the The Pilgrims. Boston have been granted permission to discuss it with Notts as Dennis Greene is keen to extend their stay...

Good news? They seem to be doing well. Thoughts? Let PoN know, comment below.

With all the excitement building up to our New years eve party I forgot to wish @MuddyPatchPie a very happy birthday..I always enjoy your comments on here.I hope you  recovered enough from the recent bug to enjoy your day.

Here's a good tip I saw on the other forum that deserves an airing here.

If you want to use Magpie Player on your mobile or tablet, download the Fli Player app from the Google Play Store. You can watch all the highlights and interviews even on devices that don't like Flash, and the commentary also works on my phone (Samsung Galaxy S3). I could never get this to work previously.

Talking to our 6 year old grandson about Christmas and he says that Santa doesn't exist and the postman brings presents.

Apparently it's a ridiculous notion that reindeer could fly!! Is he the only 6 year old in the world who doesn't believe in Santa? It made me a bit sad to be honest.

Oh how opinions have changed over at Ipswich
