Tom Iorpenda joins on a season long loan

Featured Replies

A loan signing suits this position well, so I’m pleased with the move. We still need more strength and quality in central midfield. Hopefully, the next signing will be a wingback or someone to take over from David McGoldrick.

its early to say, but it looks like we are adding height and pace into the team in the areas where we could do with it more. rather than just the back, but i agree tom iorpenda looks to be an excellent loan signing.

it will be interesting to see which position we bring in next, still need to hire the head coach. 😁

He looks to have plenty of promise. He is tall & has played on the wing as well as midfield so he will be very useful, being able to play in a few different positions.

I have a concern about his recent injury record but I'm sure Notts would have taken that into consideration before signing him.

I will look forward to where Notts will play him. I understand he's a central midfielder, so will Notts play him alongside Matt Palmer? If he's anything like George Abbott, he will be very useful to Notts.

This signing feels like a real boost. At times, our midfield has lacked that bit of bite, but Iorpenda seems to bring exactly that. His height is a definite advantage, given how we’ve been physically outmatched in some games. Having someone with a strong presence should make a real difference. What’s also encouraging is that he’s already had experience in senior football with Hyde United and Huddersfield’s first team, proving he hasn’t just been sheltered in an academy setup.

Hopefully, he sees this loan as a major opportunity and fully commits to it. If he can stay fit and avoid setbacks like the injury he dealt with last year, there’s every chance he’ll make a real impact. With the right mentality, he could turn out to be a key player in black and white.

Tom Lorpenda looks like a solid addition to the squad. I don’t expect him to be as good as George Abbott, but I think he’ll do well. If he has pace, I’d love to see him use his energy to take players on. Having someone in midfield who can drive forward would be a real boost. It’s a good signing, and I think we’ll see more once the head coach is in place.

The 15 League appearances are a tad misleading, because he’s only played 10/20 minutes here and there in most of his appearances. He got more game time in the EFL Trophy, but these matches are somewhat glorified friendlies. I'm not overly concerned though because George Abbott hadn’t played any β€˜real’ football before. If you are good enough you are good enough basically.

I’ve just done it there but he is going to get compared to Abbott given he’ll play a similar role, which might not be entirely fair as all players are different. Anyway, I hope he does well for us and makes us all feel gutted when he has to leave come next summer!

This seems like a really sensible loan. We’ve clearly learned from last season with Abbott, bringing in someone who’s had exposure to senior football, even just in glimpses, is smart. Iorpenda's got a strong background too, with Brighton and Huddersfield both being good places for young players to develop. The height and versatility in midfield will be useful, especially with the physical sides we come up against in League Two. Hopefully, he gets a good run of games and shows what he can do. Injuries can be a worry, but if he’s fully fit, I’m excited to see what he brings.

The success of George Abbott last season has taught me to be more patient with these kind of signings and we’re definitely building a reputation as a club to send promising youngsters to develop. Fingers crossed for him, oh and he doesn’t take up one of the over 21 slots either

This is the sort of signing I hoped we’d make, young, talented, and with something to prove. Iorpenda looks like he’s got the attributes to thrive in League Two: strong, quick, and willing to put himself about. That box-to-box style fits well with how we’re trying to play, especially if he’s got the engine to get up and down the pitch. The bonus is that he’s come through two decent academies, and clearly has a solid football education. I think if we manage him well and give him regular game time, he could develop into a really important player for us. If he can chip in with a few goals as well, even better!

I'm pleased with his arrival and hope he is ready to compete for his place in the team. As the season unfolds at Notts, I hope he enjoys his time here. He could become part of a select group of talented players who have been given more opportunities, like Ryan Yates and Jack Grealish.
